Flood Early Warning Detection System Prototype Based on IoT Network
This paper proposes a basic prototype of flood early warning detection system based on internet of things network. This paper will also explain regarding how the system works (using Arduino and ultrasonic sensor), where the data should be sent (to the cloud server), and who can access the system to get the information about the current water level (involves GSM and GPRS module). The system will give the flood early warning when the water level reaches certain height. The results show that the system was running well, but there are still some drawbacks: less sensitivity of sensor readings (about 20% accuracy) and low responsiveness of GSM and GPRS modules to some commands that effects the Arduino functionality. However, based on our experimental results, this system will be useful as one of solutions in order to reduce the number of flood casualties that might happen in the future.

International Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications, 2018
Floods are the most damaging natural disaster in this world. On the occasion of heavy flood, it can destroy the community and killed many lives. The government would spend billions of dollars to recover the affected area. It is crucial to develop a flood control system as a mechanism to reduce the flood risk. Providing a quick feedback on the occurrence of the flood is necessary for alerting resident to take early action such as evacuate quickly to a safer and higher place. As a solution, this paper propose a system that is not only able to detect the water level but also able to measure the rise speed of water level and alerted the resident. Waterfall model is adopted as the methodology in this project. Raspberry Pi is used to collect data from the water sensor and transmit the data to GSM module for sending an alert via SMS. The analysis will be done to show how the Raspberry Pi will be integrated with the smartphone to give an alert. The system is tested in an experiments consist of two different environment in order to ensure that the system is able to provide accurate and reliable data. The project is an IoTbased which significantly in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0, supporting the infrastructure of Cyber-Physical System.
Early Warning System for Flood Disasters Using the Internet of Things
Floods are one of the most frequently occurring natural disasters in Indonesia. It is therefore of special concern to reduce the risk of flood fatalities and other damage. The purpose of this study is to design a flood early warning system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). In this work, we use an ultrasonic HC-SR04 sensor to collect information about water levels. Further, we use an MCU8266 node as a microcontroller to analyze the sensor data and test it using a fuzzy inference system (FIS). To monitor the server activities, a Blink application is used as an iCloud IoT to hook up to smartphone devices. The test results show that all the devices function properly and that the system can classify water levels into normal, standby, alert, and danger categories in real time. Thus, the server can send information to the output device before a flood disaster occurs.

Flooding is considered one of the most destructive natural disasters in the world. In countries like India with climatic conditions occurrence of heavy rain fall and subsequent discharge of water leads to Flood. Flooding creates major damages to life, their habitats and the economy By installing of flood alerting systems near major waterways vital information can be provide so that lives and property can be protected. Normal Weather monitoring and alerting systems are not quick and accurate enough to predict floods in time to prevent personal or environmental damages. The government has to spend tons of money in flood mitigation plans to help the victims and also to reduce the number in the long run damages that can occur after flooding. Since Most of the flood alerting systems involves high cost they are deployed on select locations based on priority. In this project we make use of a cost effective system using raspberry pi board and sensors, to measure rise of water level in rivers and water bodies and alert government authorities and people instantly by transmitting information using IOT. In the present work we have used thingspeak-IOT platform and GSM module. The data can be accessed from android smart phones using things View mobile application at anytime from anywhere in the world where GSM module is used to send the alert message to the people.

Flood Monitoring and Alerting System based on IOT
International Journal of Advance Research and Innovative Ideas in Education, 2021
Flooding is one of the major disasters occurring in various parts of the world. The system for real-time monitoring of water conditions: water level; flow; and precipitation level, was developed to be employed in monitoring flood in Nakhon Si Thammarat, a southern province in Thailand. The two main objectives of the developed system is to serve 1) as information channel for flooding between the involved authorities and experts to enhance their responsibilities and collaboration and 2) as a web based information source for the public, responding to their need for information on water condition and flooding. The developed system is composed of three major components: sensor network, processing/transmission unit, and database/ application server. These real-time data of water condition can be monitored remotely by utilizing wireless sensors network that utilizes the mobile General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) communication in order to transmit measured data to the application server. We implemented a so-called VirtualCOM, a middleware that enables application server to communicate with the remote sensors connected to a GPRS data unit (GDU). With VirtualCOM, a GDU behaves as if it is a cable directly connected the remote sensors to the application server. The application server is a web-based system implemented using PHP and JAVA as the web application and MySQL as its relational database. Users can view real-time water condition as well as the forecasting of the water condition directly from the web via web browser or via WAP. The developed system has demonstrated the applicability of today's sensors in wirelessly monitor real-time water conditions. I.

Journal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
Flood is one of the natural disasters that cannot be avoided. It happens too fast and affected so many lives and properties. Before this, most of the existing system that has been developed are only focus on certain areas. Other than that, majority of the public cannot monitor and have no idea when the flood going to be happened since they do not have any information and data about the weather condition. By having Smart IoT Flood Monitoring System, this will solve all the drawbacks of the existing system. The proposed system is suitable for cities and village areas. Furthermore, if the public has an internet access, they can monitor what is happening and predict if there is any upcoming flood at the web server. The proposed system is a low cost in design and easy for maintenance. This project will update the water level at the web server and the system will issue an alert signal to the citizens for evacuation so that fast necessary actions can be taken.
FLOOD MONITORING AND ALERTING SYSTEM
Flood is one of the natural disasters which cannot be avoided totally. Every year, death rate due to flood increases because of absence of early warning. To solve this problem, this paper demonstrates the idea and implementation of a Flood Monitoring and Alerting system using Internet of Things (IOT) technology. This system comprises of three parts. The first part measures the height of the water using ultrasonic distance measuring sensor. The second part is sending the height information to web page using the Ethernet shield. The third part is making call to residences to alert them about flood through voice message. The call is made through the most popular mobile standard Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and ARP33A3 is used to play the recorded voice message.
