Home automation trade has drawn goodish attention of researchers for quite a decade. The main attraction of any automated system is reducing human labor, effort, time and errors due to human negligence. With the development of modern technology, smart phones have become a necessity for every person on this planet. With the increase in consumption of energy and population, there is a grave need to conserve energy in every way possible. The inability to access and control the appliances from remote locations is one of the major reasons for energy loss. This paper presents a survey of all such systems.

Home automation is to control home devices from a central control point. Today we are living in 21st century where automation is playing important role in human life. Home automation allows us to control household appliances like light, door, fan, AC etc. It also provides home security and emergency system to be activated and adopted in many applications beyond just SmartPhones.This design is based on the popular open sourced Arduino prototyping board where the sensors and electrical appliances are connected to the input/output ports of the board. Pattern based password protection is implemented to allow only authorized users to control the appliances. Another implementation is Google's voice recognition feature that recognizes users' voice commands to control appliances. The main objective of home automation and security is to help handicapped and old aged people who will enable them to control home appliances and alert them in critical situation. Smart Home Systems: Overview and Comparative Analysis

Smart Home Systems have achieved great interest in the recent years to make people's life easier and more comfortable. Smart home system offers people to control home environment in efficient and comfortable manner. Technological advancement in recent years resulted in producing a large number of smart and sophisticated systems which promoted smart living technology. This paper presents complete analysis of various smart and intelligent home automation systems. Comparative analysis of existing smart home system has been made which provides a clear idea of the pros and cons of the existing systems. Working principle of different types of smart home systems such as Dual Tone Multi Frequency based, Global System for Mobile based, voice recognition based, Zigbee based, Bluetooth based, Internet and Wi-fi based, and Gesture based smart home systems has been studied. Comments according to different aspects and features have been made for the studied smart home systems which enable users to select suitable technology according to budget and needs.

The proposed Smart Home Automation is an application of Internet of Things (IoT). The developed system has features like controlling the appliances and intrusion detection. Controlling can be done through the App as well as manually. The system also helps in monitoring humidity and room temperature. The home automation becomes important because it gives the user the comfort and ease for using the home appliances. The implementation and design of wireless home automation control uses MQTT protocol technology. The mobile application via Wi-Fi is used to control the selective home appliances with integral security and protection. CASE STUDY: ADVANCED HOME AUTOMATION
Home automation is a topic which is gaining popularity day by day, because of large advantages. One can achieve home automation by simply connecting home appliance electrical devices to the internet. The implementation of home automation in this project employs two systems, IoT and speech that are voice controlled based home automation. Internet of Things (IoT) conceptualizes the idea of remotely connecting and monitoring real things through the Internet. When it comes to our house, this concept can be aptly incorporated to make it smarter, safer and automated. The first scheme uses GSM/GPRS technology for controlling the electrical appliances via Internet through a website. The second scheme uses Bluetooth technology for controlling of electrical appliances by voice control when we are at home via an Android app. The proposed system is implemented on Pic 16f877a microcontroller. In this project, the goal is to develop a home automation system that gives the user complete control over all remotely controllable aspects of his or her home. The automation system will have ability to be controlled from a central host PC, the internet, and also remotely accessed with smart phone. Home automation system gives accessibility, comfort, energy efficiency, security by providing control and monitoring of appliances, security surveillance.
Home Automation System by Using Smart Devices

This paper presents a home automation system by using smart devices. This system used the embedded system and ZigBee technologies to overcome the drawbacks of traditional systems. It could be installed and used in many places, conveniently. The proposed system has been tested at the Smart Home Laboratory. The result of this study indicated that the automatic controlling function is the most effective feature in reducing the energy consumption. Consequently, the performance indicators analysis revealed that the proposed system could reduce the power consumption in the home was equal to 20.03%.
