Using Mobile Devices for Educational Purposes in Compulsory Secondary Education to Improve Student’s Learning Achievements

Sustainability, 2020

The number of mobiles surpassed the population of the planet in 2018. Without a doubt, they have become the tool of reference in our social life, as well as in our work and leisure, but in educational centers, they continue to be used inefficiently or are declared off limits to some classrooms. This study aims to establish the relationship that the use of mobile phones in secondary education schools may have in regard to the student’s academic performance. For this purpose, we will carry out a secondary exploitation of the Ministry of Education database for 2017 with the data of 1,887,027 students from 7381 compulsory secondary education schools in Spain. As a method of analysis, a multilevel correlation study is carried out. The results show a strong correlation between centers and territories that allow the usage of mobile devices in education and academic performance. Although the methodology that accompanies the use of the smartphone as an educational tool is very important, the...

Mobile Device as a Support Tool in Student Learning

Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Information Communication and Management

Nowadays people use mobile devices in different ways to make a profit. In this paper we present a literature review to know the use of the mobile devices as a learning tool, the factors that influence their use, and the advantages and disadvantages of the use of mobile applications that strengthen learning. Researchers seek to dispel doubts about the possibility of choosing mobile devices as tools for learning. As a result of this study it was found that the factors that influence the adoption of these tools are relevant, the advantages are really beneficial, and that students' academic performance can increase relatively.

The use of mobile devices in the students' learning process on elementary and secondary school

" If we want students to become smarter than a smartphone, we need to think harder about the pedagogies we are using to teach them. Technology can amplify great teaching but great technology cannot replace poor teaching " (OECD, 2015). Nowadays, the Neumann Galaxy lives together with the Gutenberg Galaxy. Both printed books and mobile devices can be applied in education. The following question often arises: In which proportion should they be used by teachers and by students? We believe in the learner-centred pedagogy and we analyse this question from the student's side. We are focusing on the types of mobile learning. Mobile devices allow the students to develop innovative learning skills. The question is, whether they can leverage these potentials? Do they know the relevant online curriculums, platforms and applications? Do they have incentive for integrating mobile devices in their learning process?

Mobile devices on teaching-learning process for high school level

The objective of the study is to describe the main characteristics and use of mobile technology as a fundamental element in the construction of knowledge, with the use of technologies the possibilities of interacting with students and teachers are increased without the obligation of physical presence, improving communication between high school students. In today's society in continuous growth, technological progress appears to give clear answers to computer advances and communications. That is why today mobile technologies appear giving way to a new social, cultural and educational model. The article creates theoretical conceptualizations in the use of mobile devices in high school, the current impact on the practice of these terminals in regular education at the Baccalaureate levels. The devices are really becoming tools available to teachers and students in order to improve their teaching practices, consult, research and access information from anywhere on the planet at any time in all sectors of society.

Use of Mobile Technology in Education

Technology has played a significant role in changing the face of higher education. Mobile technologies are playing an increasingly important role in college students' academic lives. Devices such as Smart phones, tablets, and e-book readers connect users to the world instantly, heightening access to information and enabling interactivity with others. Applications that run on these devices, let users not only consume but also discover and produce content. As such, they continue to transform how college students learn, as well as influence their learning preferences, both within and outside the classroom. A complex relationship exists between education and technology. The learners of 21 st century live technologically integrated lives. They do not distinguish between cellular telephones, text messaging devices, cameras, internet browsers, email readers, music players and satellite navigation systems. They just carry them in their packets. Mobile learning (m-learning) is an extension of e-learning that includes the use of technology that can be carried easily in a pocket or purse, used 'on the go', turned on instantly without the need to boot up, is internet capable through a wifi connection and other features such as word processing ability, html browser, SMS messaging, camera, MPs players, GPS etc., The popularity of mobile technologies among college students is increasing dramatically. Many universities now use mobile technologies and create mobile-optimized versions of their websites or build stand-alone applications that can be downloaded from mobile application stores. This paper will help us to understand how mobile technology very much useful in the field of Education.

Mobile Technologies in Education

Mobile Technologies in Education, 2013

The lowering prices and the growing functionalities of the mobile technologies combined with the increasing need of interactions not only between people but also between people and various kinds of information have led to significant broadening of the mobile technologies usage. Once used mainly for voice and messaging services, they are now tools for socialization, entertainment, shopping, work, and learning. The application of mobile technologies in the learning process was regarded a novelty 10 years ago but now it is more and more widely considered common, and, in numerous cases, very important. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of some key aspects of the mobile technologies applications in the learning process – brief history and definitions, current state, and tendencies.

The Use of Mobile Devices in Education

The use of mobile technology increases around the world and therefore is growing interest in its use in education. Mobile technologies are dramatically influencing how and when students learn. Technology plays an increasingly important role in education. This paper deals with the possibilities of mobile technology in the education and it shows how teachers and students readiness to work with mobile devices. Aid questionnaires were verified what relation to mobile technologies have teachers and students. It was also verified how teachers use their mobile devices in preparation for learning and teaching. Research methods were used questionnaires, interviews and a pedagogical experiment. Results of surveys and experiments show that mobile devices can enhance teaching, but also brings the new difficulties and problems.

SOME DIDACTIC OPPORTUNITIES OF APPLICATION OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES FOR IMPROVEMENT IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

In this paper, on the basis of the analysis of the experience of using mobile devices as a learning tool described in the scientific, pedagogical, methodological and technical literature, some didactic possibilities of their use in the educational process are revealed and their descriptions are given. The possibilities of mobile technologies to support the traditional educational process (both during the lesson and during homework) in educational institutions to improve the quality of education are discussed. The issues of using multimedia educational web resources, quick access to educational sites and other educational resources, the use and development of personalized training materials for mobile communication platforms, the use of mobile technologies in the educational process of educational institutions through the use of modern communication channels are being studied. Features of Mobile Devices and Its Implications into Education: A Literature Review

Computers have changed such as the size, weight and usefulness, and they have become portable devices with the developing technology. This has led to the creation of mobile learning concepts. Devices supporting mobile learning are called mobile devices such as PDAs, Smart Phones, Netbooks, and Tablet PC etc. Computers use in educational environments as it is devices that enrich the educational process, grant to a student-centered education, and facilitate access to sources of information, support individual and lifelong learning. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the education supported of mobile devices and to use of mobile devices in education. For this purpose, the literature examined is about the subject and the data obtained from literature have been discussion under the headings, reading, writing, communication, interaction and integration.

Design, Development and Implementation of Mobile Applications to Support the Educational Process in the Greek Secondary Education System

European Journal of Engineering and Technology Research, 2020

The purpose of this paper is the design, development and presentation of two applications that are created in order to be used for supporting the students’ learning in the Greek secondary education environment. More specifically, we present the structure and the functions of two applications under the names “Aepp_App” and “CS_App”. The applications are intended to be used by teachers and students during a lesson as well as outside the classroom settings, with the use of android mobile devices. We present the tools that have been used to develop the mobile applications and the applications’ use in the educational process. Additionally, we present the feedback received by teachers, to whom the applications were presented, who seem to like the idea of using game applications for mobile devices in order to enhance their students’ interest.
