With the advancement of technology and modern science, people are expecting information about the location of any object for tracking purposes. GPS is a system which has been implemented and is accessible without any restriction. Having the facility of GPS, we need a GPS device to calculate the location from the information taken from GPS. This paper presents a study on Location Based Services and is directed on locating and tracking of Android devices. In this implementation I am using Global Positioning System (GPS) and Web Services, and android smart phone device since Android devices have a built-in feature of GPS service. Some latest demanding tools and technology used for this implementation are Java, AVD, WAMP etc.
Design and Development of a Low Cost Ubiquitous Tracking System
In this paper, design and development of a ubiquitous tracking system is proposed, in which vehicles are tracked and controlled using the prevailing cellular technologies. The system contains a GPS receiver and a GSM modem interfaced with a microcontroller. To track any vehicle, the vehicle’s owner has to send an SMS to the tracking system installed inside the vehicle. Upon receiving the SMS, the microcontroller takes the current location’s longitude and latitude coordinates from GPS receiver, packs it into an SMS and sends it to the owner and on a web server using GSM modem. When the web server receives the SMS containing vehicles coordinates, it will show location of the vehicle on Google Maps. For android users, the location is also displayed on an android application. In case of vehicle theft, the owner is able to turn off the main ignition switch, check status and speed of the vehicle simply by sending an SMS. The system is also equipped with a special security button for parked vehicles. By turning the button ON, the system will come in ACTIVE mode and will keep a special check on the vehicle’s movement meanwhile performing the normal tasks. If the system senses any movement of vehicle during the ACTIVE mode, it will turn the main ignition OFF and will inform the owner immediately be sending 5 SMSs. Record of the vehicle’s movement will be continuously managed on the web server where each owner will have vehicle’s account. We have used a wide number of technologies including, but not limited to, Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) and Microcontroller.
Integrating GPS, GSM and Cellular Phone for Location Tracking and Monitoring
The wide spread of mobiles as handheld devices leads to various innovative applications that makes use of their ever increasing presence in our daily life. One such application is locationtracking and monitoring. This paper proposes a prototype model for location tracking using Geographical Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technology. The system displays the object moving path on the monitor and the same information can also be communicated to the user cell phone, on demand of the user by asking the specific information via SMS. This system is very useful for car theft situations, for adolescent drivers being watched and monitored by parents. The result shows that the object is being tracked with a minimal tracking error.
GPS BASED SMARTPHONE APPLICATION: REAL TIME BUS TRACKING SYSTEM FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
Proceedings of GSRD International Conference, Tokyo, Japan, 2019
GPS (Global Positioning System) based tracking system has many applications in today's world, including vehicle tracking, child tracking, any equipment tracking, etc. These services offer many advantages to the mobile users to retrieve the information about their current location and process that data to get more useful information. The development of a bus tracking system for android based smartphone with the aim of enabling educational institution students, faculties and staffs to locate their buses with ease and in a convenient manner. The system consists of two sides, server side and client side. The client side provides the facility to the user to track buses remotely through the mobile network or WIFI and the server side's main responsibility is to provide the exact location of the bus to the server. Any type of user can see the live location of their desire bus with only 5 seconds of update interval. This will reduce unnecessary hassle and waiting time for the users. It will provide multiple services to the user based on their category.
IJERT-Review on Personal Tracker Systems
International Journal of Engineering Research and Technology (IJERT), 2014
https://www.ijert.org/review-on-personal-tracker-systems https://www.ijert.org/research/review-on-personal-tracker-systems-IJERTV3IS030939.pdf In this paper, some recent development of tracking system using GPS/GSM has been focused. The GPS and GSM are both most important technologies now a days. The information is transmitted to tracking server using GSM/GPRS modem on GSM network by using SMS with tracking server through GPRS. Tracking server also has GSM/GPRS modem that receives person's location information via GSM network and stores this information in database. This system contains single-board embedded system that is equipped with GPS and GSM modems along with ARM processor will be installed with the person. While moving object motion, its location can be reported by SMS message. A software package is developed to read, process, analyse and store the incoming SMS messages. The use of GSM and GPS technologies allows the system to track object and provides the most up-to-date information about ongoing trips. Recently numbers of GPS technologies are available for person tracker. Some approximate study of research work done on tracking system has been explained.
