The aim of this research is to carry out a critical discourse analysis on the ideology of feminism in the novel Mudzakkirāt Thobībah by Nawāl Al-Sa’adāwī, through linguistic feature in the symbol of sound, vocabulary and text structure or the dialog contained in the novel. This research utilizes qualitative approach with content analysis method of Philipp Mayring. Data is collected by way of reading the novel, identifying, marking, classifying and interpreting meaning. The findings are 1) patriarchal sound symbols because of the existence of non (nir)-sound in Nawāl Al-Sa’adāwī’s Mudzakkirāt Thobībah linguistic feature. They can be identified as patriarchal because the text is commonly read by men due to minimum access of education for women. Women are illiterate and experience oppression in education. Gender stereotyping is an age old phenomenon used by patriarchal societies to maintain the hegemony of men over women. In this connection, literature serves as a powerful tool that the male society uses to promote sexism by representing woman as inferior Other of man. This research employs Mill's feminist stylistic framework to determine how male and female authors differ in representations of women in their works. For this purpose, feminist stylistic analysis of Mueenuddin's (2009) 'Saleema' and Shahraz's (1998) 'Zamindar's Wife' has been undertaken. Using qualitative method, the analysis has been done on the phrase/sentence level by adopting purposive sampling technique. The results indicate that sexism and gender bias against women dominate in Mueenuddin's writing who has tried to maintain the male status quo unchallenged. In comparison, Shahraz has portrayed an unconventional and bold female character, yet her writing, too, is not totally free from gender stereotypes because escape from 'internalized patriarchy' is not easy. The study is significant as it validates and reinforces the previous studies that intervene on behalf of women by exposing and fighting the sexist attitude present against them in literary works. Future researchers can investigate the same data by analysing the text at the discourse level as proposed by Mills to further explore the issue.

A B S T R A C TThis study aims to describe the characterization of feminism movement figures in Sibel Eraslan's novel “ Aisyah ( Wanita Yang Hadir Dalam Mimpi Rasulullah )”, which reflects the reality of women's lives and the struggle for equality between men and women. The author is interested in researching this novel, because this novel is able to present wise or intelligent female characters in carrying out feminist movements to break down those who narrow the space for women's movements by using the feminist literary criticism approach. The research data is qualitative data in the form of facts, information, statements or descriptions obtained by researchers from research sources, namely the novel Aisyah ( Wanita Yang Hadir Dalam Mimpi Rasulullah ) by Sibel Eraslan. The data collection technique uses descriptive qualitative methods that focus on content analysis, which is an in-depth analysis of the content of written information.

This study aims to describe the comparison of the image of women in the novel Wa Nasitu Anni Imro'ah by Ihsan Abdul Quddus and the novel Kartini by Abidah El Khaileqy through a comparative Literature Study. This type of research was qualitative with descriptive method. Qualitative research is research that intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by research subjects such as actors, perceptions, motivations, and actions holistically and by way of description in the form of words and language, in a special natural context. The results of this study present some of the data obtained as research evidence, namely, the female image of the novel Wa Nasitu Anni Imro'ah by Ihsan Abdul Quddus and the novel Kartini by Abidah El Khaileqy, namely: 1) the personal image of women 2) the image of women in the family, and 3) the image of women in society. The two novels show that women are capable and can become highly educated, have a career and get the same rights as men, without having to be limited by customary rules.

There is a general perception that a male member of the society projects only male perception of life and generally ignores female perception of life. As a result, women are discriminated and subordinated to men which is projected in the literature as it reflects the true picture of society. In the present study, the researcher has tried to find out the stylistic features that represent the gender discrimination in the play of Wajahat Ali. The present research has been conducted to decode the text of The Domestic Crusader stylistically by applying 'Sara Mills' model of Feminist Stylistics. The data have been analyzed at the level of words, sentences and discourse. This research has been conducted by qualitative approach. The present research concludes that the writer has used negative words and sentences to represent women and men and used body parts to describe a woman while man is described overall either positive or negative. Furthermore, the writer has used generic noun, woman as marked form, naming and androcentrism, semantic derogation of women at the level of words, readymade phrases, metaphors, jokes and humor and presupposition and inferences at the level of sentences while fragmentation has used at the level of discourse. Moreover, the writer has portrayed male character opposite to female characters for instance when female has defined as sex object, weak and helpless, the writer has used male as pleasure seeker, terrorist and extremist.
Representation of Female In Arabic: Feminism and Gender Relations Perspective

When discussing about gender, it matters not only as a grammatical phenomenon, but also as a deeper meaning of the relationship between men and women. As a representation produced by human being containing certain values about an abstracted object, language embodies personal value, social values, cultural values, and political values. The correlation between gender and language in Arabic language has a characteristic since it is also influenced by the religion affected the relationship between men and women. Therefore, the main problems are how women depicted in this language and how their image is compared with man. In order to gain the depiction, feminism is seen as an appropriate tool for analyzing it. This approach is chosen since feminism approach providing general analysis about condition contributed to woman and digging into cultural understanding towards what is meant by being woman. The findings conclude that woman depiction are seen as 1) a branch while man as a root; 2) imperfect person since their thinking are unequal to men.

This paper addresses the horned dilemma of sustenance of women's suppression in Pakistani patriarchal societyby critically analyzing a renowned Pakistani Urdu novel, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, by Umera Ahmed.Apparently, the novel seems to raise voice in favour of oppressed Pakistani women, butbehind the lines, it works as a tool to reassure the women to bear the injustices and inequalities in the patriarchal society as their destiny. The analysis of the novelis carried out under the umbrella of critical discourse analysis by employing three-dimensional framework of Norman Fairclough (2015). The research design of this qualitative study consists of the basic tenets of Critical Discourse Analysis, Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis, Feminism, Lacan's Psychoanalysis and Moscovici's theory of social representations. It has been found out that the narratives like Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishanhave been paving the ways for the sustenance of male's hegemony. They impart the message that the women are subaltern and subservient to the traditions, values and norms of the society. They are bound and restricted to the boundaries raised by the demons of the societal and cultural norms. The writer stamps the destiny of the women through the depiction of docile and subservient female protagonists like Saba. The chains of social, cultural and religious norms are only for women whereas the men of the system are considered mostly as exempted from these restraints.
Translating Feminist Literary Theory into Arabic

This paper is informed by feminist translation as theory and practice, in the sense of feminist translation as an extension of feminist writing. It is based on the assumption that the translator's feminist position (or lack of it) influences the translation of a feminist text; and it attempts to answer several questions: What identifies a feminist discourse? What are the intersections between feminist theory and translation studies? Which translation strategies help preserve the feminism of a text? What are the feminist translation strategies that can be adopted in the translation of feminist texts into Arabic? What makes feminist translation a political act? This paper is, therefore, divided into three main parts. The first part discusses the issues related to the translation of feminist discourses and feminist translation strategies. In the second part, the paper addresses various issues related to feminist translation praxis, with particular reference to the intersections between feminist theory and translation studies, as manifested in the notions of visibility, foreignisation and simpatico/simpatica translation. The third part is based on a case study; namely the translation of feminist thought into the Arabic language. The example used here is that of a Reader in Feminist Literary Theory and Criticism published in Arabic, consisting of a selection of articles published in English on various aspects of feminist literary studies. The paper explores the strategies used in translating these articles into Arabic. The paper ends with concluding remarks on feminist translation praxis as knowledge-production and reflects on feminist translation as a political act, with particular reference to the Egyptian/Arab context.
