A Web-Based Intelligent Decision Support System for Low-Technology Greenhouses

Computers in Agriculture and Natural Resources, 23-25 July 2006, Orlando Florida, 2006

This work describes the architecture of a system developed to introduce computer management into the cultivation process in low-tech greenhouses. The proposed system is implemented as a web-based application using open source technologies and subsystems comprised of modules that provide:

Integrated Online Platform for Agricultural Products and Information

International Journal for Research in Applied Science & Engineering Technology (IJRASET), 2022

Agriculture is the basic and most important profession of our country as it balances the food requirement and also the essential raw materials for several industries. The implementation of smart technology in agriculture practices needs to be focused on for better land productivity. Internet of Things technology has brought a revolution to each and every field of common man's life by making everything smart and intelligent. The development of Intelligent Smart Farming based on IoT is day by day turning the face of agriculture production by not only enhancing it but also making it cost-effective and reducing wastage. The aim of this project is to propose a Novel Smart Interactive Platform for Integrated Information of Agricultural Products based Agriculture system that can assist farmers in crop management by getting Live Data (Temperature, Humidity, RainFall, Soil moisture content) for efficient environment monitoring which will enable smart farming and increase their overall yield and quality of products. This system proposes an interactive platform for integrated information of agricultural products which combines farm production, supply and marketing of agricultural products. This will help the information platform to play the role of information collection and distribution, and to improve the efficiency of the circulation of agricultural products.

Management and control applications in Agriculture domain via a Future Internet Business-to-Business platform

Information Processing in Agriculture, 2015

The Agriculture business domain, as a vital part of the overall supply chain, is expected to highly evolve in the upcoming years via the developments, which are taking place on the side of the Future Internet. This paper presents a novel Business-to-Business collaboration platform from the agri-food sector perspective, which aims to facilitate the collaboration of numerous stakeholders belonging to associated business domains, in an effective and flexible manner. The contemporary B2B collaboration schemes already place the requirements for swift deployment of cloud applications, capable of both integrating diverse legacy systems, as well as developing in a rapid way new services and systems, which will be able to instantly communicate and provide complete, ''farm-to-fork'' solutions for farmers, agrifood and logistics service providers, ICT companies, end-product producers, etc. To this end, this conceptual paper describes how these requirements are addressed via the FIspace B2B platform, focusing on the Greenhouse Management & Control scenarios.

Web-Based Agricultural Management Products for Marketing System: Survey

Academic Journal of Nawroz University

The development of information systems motivated scientists to use their knowledge to improve new tactics that can provide competitive advantages in a highly complex environment, primarily in the management of agricultural products marketing systems. Farmers often blame marketing issues for their struggles. Poor prices, a lack of transportation, and substantial post-harvest losses are all issues that they can recognize, but they are typically ill-equipped to solve. Modern technology, particularly Internet and mobile connectivity, makes it easier for people to do their work across a wide range of activities, including economics, commerce, marketing, and agriculture. Agricultural Information Management Systems (AIMS) are becoming more popular as a useful sector as agriculture expands and becomes one of the world's most lucrative enterprises. In recent years, people have become increasingly dependent on this technology. Systems have evolved from passively absorbing information to a...

A knowledge management system for exchanging and creating knowledge in organic farming

Agriculture must evolve into a more environmentally-friendly approach while remaining economically workable. This type of agriculture is said to be sustainable. It has a systemic logic and therefore requires a strong knowledge base. In this study we propose a knowledge management IT-based system. In the first part of our article, we discuss the potential actors of the system and their possible implications. The second part deals with the knowledge selection and formalization. The third part describes the main computing features of the knowledge server we propose.

Transforming Information-Based Agricultural Portal to Knowledge-Based Agricultural Hub

2008 3rd International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies: From Theory to Applications, 2008

The paper proposes an approach to transform an information based portal into a knowledge-based hub. The study is made on the Agribazaar, which is an informationbased portal provided by the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-based Industry, Malaysia. Basically, the portal has been developed to offer an internetbased commerce infrastructure for buyers and sellers of agriculture products. Agribazaar has been found to be successful in bridging the rural connectivity between users locally and globally. The applications has been accepted and utilized by a substantial number of users in Malaysia and other countries as well. However, the percentage of usage of the portal could be increased if it is made more competitive. One way to obtain a greater percentage of market shares is to reconstruct the portal into a new paradigm which is known as a "knowledge-based" hub. The transformation approach proposed involves five stages namely data repository, metadata, knowledge-based services, application, and security. The approach proposed aims to illustrate the use of existing information to reconstruct and transform the informationbased portal into a knowledge-based hub. It is also intended to serve as a model for transforming a information based portal to a knowledge-based hub.

Design of Agricultural Greenhouse Monitoring and Production and Sales Unification system

This research project design a new agricultural greenhouse monitoring and production and sales unification system, aim to solve the problem of traditional greenhouse cannot be remote control and sales channels narrow. Based on internet of things technology, the detection and control of the indoor environment is realized and the production and sales unification platform is constructed. To achieve a scientific control of the growing environment of crops and the platform-based of agricultural products sales. The system integrates data acquisition, intelligent control and production and sales together, helps to reduce the cost of storage and preservation and slow-moving phenomenon.

ONLINE EXPERT SYSTEM IN AGRICULTURE

The Internet was opened to general users in 1994 and this new era of information and communication technology has played an important role in the field of expert systems. The Web technologies allowed the knowledge engineers and domain experts to build the expert systems that were having dynamic knowledgebase capabilities [Marwaha et al. 2002]. The domain experts could update the knowledge at the central server and the users had an access to the recent knowledgebase through a Web interface. AgriDaksh, a tool for building online expert system for various crops, has been developed at Division of Computer Applications, Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi. AgriDaksh has modules on Knowledge Model Creation, Knowledge Acquisition, Problem Identification, Knowledge Retrieval, Ask Questions to Experts and Administration. AgriDaksh enables domain experts to build online expert system in their crops with minimal intervention of knowledge engineers and programmers. With its use, it is possible to build online expert system for each and every crop in significantly less time and resources. Online expert systems have the capability to transfer location specific technology and advice to the farmers efficiently and effectively. This in turn will reduce losses due to diseases and pests infestation, improve productivity with proper variety selection and increase in income of the farmer. A Web System for Farming Management

Journal of Economics, Business and Management, 2013

This paper presents a web system for farming management that implements a conceptual framework for modeling the production system at a farm scale. The web system supports the design of the production system, which is logically split in three parts: the decision support subsystem the technical subsystem , and the bio-physical subsystem. Additionally, the web system was designed using interdisciplinary research project management (IRPM) concepts, with an architecture known as Model-View-Controller (MVC), that is, it was developed applying the MVC Evolutionary Acquisition IRPM.
