Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental syndrome that is defined by unusual, restricted, and repetitive behaviors along with deficit in social reciprocity and communications . There isn’t any widely accepted treatment for ASD’s. In spite of great improvements in early diagnosis and interventions, most children diagnosed with ASD are unlikely to live independently upon reaching adulthood. As the number of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) continues to grow in our country, we are reminded of the needs of this community. Language skills of children with ASD may vary on a wide spectrum. Some children may have difficulty developing language skills and following a conversation. While some children with ASD may be unable to speak, others may have rich vocabularies and be able to talk about specific subjects in great detail. Their communication skills vary depending upon their social and intellectual development. In order to support their development, teaching reading to them is crucially important. Literacy programs which are based on visual learning style of children with ASD show more steady progress at their reading comprehension. Following a rigorous and comprehensive research conducted on academic literature and software market, we conclude that there is lack of mobile educational applications designed to teach reading and writing in Turkish specifically to children with ASD. Our research objective is to develop mobile educational application software to teach reading and writing in Turkish to children with ASD. With regard to their visual learning style, Patricia Oelwein’s method (1995) is implemented to strengthen their comprehension through the stages of recognition, matching, selecting and naming.( Broun, 2004). We use tablets and smart phones as our application’s environment as children with ASD show interest in experiencing them. There is also evidence that touch screens are easier to use for some children with ASD because they may have difficulties of using different physical devices such as screen, mouse and/or keyboard in coordination.
Krisha: An Interactive Mobile Application for Autism Children

The intelligent system has presumed a new hope in almost every field, a hope of improving things and making those things effortless for each person. In the same way, hope rose in the direction of distressed and impaired people like disabled people, handicapped people, autistic children, and many others. According to the study, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is easily found in 1 among 68 children. The main aim of our work is to help autism children to be adaptive, adjustable and interactive with outer world. For this we conducted survey and on the basis of the survey result analysis it was understood that the major problem the autism child suffers from is the Life skills and Emotional skills. So, we designed a Krisha mobile application which is friendly and easy to use, have games after every module so that autism child can enjoy learning and also have interactive interface that coincide with the current environment to keep them motivated and busy. The evaluation and the testing of the application were done. The result of which states that the autism children are benefitted in learning Life skills more than the Emotional skills.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is an overall developmental disorder that causes delays in social skills, communication, and behavior in children, so it is very influential in academic and non-academic results. In this case some parents of children with ASD get difficulty to communicate and understand the wishes of their children, so parents cannot provide learning and therapy to their children outside the time of therapy. Most parents use instructional and therapeutic media aids that still use books and other aids, which are less effective in terms of cost, as well as learning to use books or pictures that are always in a state of silence (not moving, not active, and not changing the situation), and lack Multimedia applications that provide a variety of functions (communication, learning and therapy) in one application. Android-based mobile application as a tool for communication, learning and therapy was built so that children with ASD can express their desires and emotions easily, facilitate the learning process, and assist them in the therapy process. Based on the results of testing an android-based mobile application as a tool for communication, learning and therapy for ASD patients, 25 respondents consisting of parents, therapists, and teachers, showed that the application validity reached 82%, in this case the validity level of the application was in good criteria. Research shows that Augmentative and Alternative Communication can improve the quality of life of children diagnosed with ASD and non-verbal, by supporting and improving their communication.
Incorporating Mobile Technology into Evidence-Based Practices for Students with Autism

This chapter discusses how mobile technology can contribute to the quality of life of children with autism across their school years and through the transition to adulthood. Mobile technology has the potential to support students not just at school, but also across all environments in and throughout their lives. There are a number of educational practices and strategies that have been identified as having a strong evidence base to effectively support students with autism. The theoretical framework underpinning this chapter is the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which prescribes that these practices be integrated into instruction from the outset to ensure equal access and participation of all students in the classroom. Case studies of students on the autism spectrum with diverse needs and during different stages of their lives (from the school years to the transition to adulthood) are used to demonstrate the benefits of incorporating mobile technology into evidence-based educational practices for people with autism.

Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was firstly described as a disturbance of affective contact, including language deficiency, social interaction limitation, and repetitive/restrictive behaviors. ASD individuals are to be motivated and encouraged to seek for independence and cognitive development, in order to overcome the restrictions imposed by the disturbance. This paper presents the development of an application aimed specifically at helping ASD children aged 8-12 years improve, by establishing a sequential and highlycustomizable routine. Developed with the help of professionals that work with autistic children and their caregivers, the application proves to be a support tool for the ASD individuals' reality.
Design and Evaluation of Mobile Learning Applications for Autistic Children in Pakistan
In this paper, we present the design and evaluation of culturally specific mobile learning applications, designed as a tool to encourage social interaction in autistic children. These applications were designed for Pakistani children keep their cultural context in mind. We performed longitudinal evaluation (around eight weeks) of these applications at an autistic school in Pakistan. Our initial results, based on pre and post evaluation questionnaires and video analysis of social interactions, showed that the applications had a positive effect on the development of socio-emotional skills of children and were appreciated not only by children but also by the teachers.
Multimedia Educational Technologies for Teaching Students with Autism

Visualization of educational materials in the education of students with autism is a useful and convenient learning tool. At the same time, choosing the most useful and effective multimedia educational technology to support such learning is a problem, as there is a wide range of developed technologies, and each participant in the process of education of children with autism assesses such technologies subjectively. Each participant of IT-support of education of students with autism, i.e. inclusive school teacher, psychologist, parents, IT specialist has its own criteria how to assess such multimedia technology, and development of objective criteria for evaluating such technologies will become the basis for developing an appropriate system that will form a complex information technology of education of a student with autism in an inclusive classroom. Applying the analytic hierarchy process, allows to make reasoned decisions.
Digital and Mobile Applications for Autism Inclusion

The purpose of this research analysis is to identify the contribution of online applications to the integration of autistic individuals in typical educational contexts. The difficulties faced by both autistic people and teachers are analyzed. These difficulties are calls to improve the technology that has been introduced into the daily life of children and adults with autism. As people are becoming familiar with technology by a very young age, inexpensive applications can be used through devices such as mobiles/tablets. These applications have the power to strengthen areas in which autistic individuals fall behind. The research articles we have studied present data over the last decade, and their results are applicable to a large portion of the autistic population. Data highlighted in current analysis may be useful for improving web applications targeting autistic individuals and their families.
