Abstract
The United Nations is one of the most important international organisations promoting such values as human rights, sovereignty and justice, and when it comes to the Security Council - international peace and security. The United Nations is the main international body to which countries turn to in the presence of a crisis or war. Even though the organisation seeks to ensure the mentioned values, it is being criticised and is offered reforms, which are seen as necessary in order to maximise the potential to succeed, yet it seems to have difficulties in finding ways for improvement. The thesis presents the object of the thesis - Russia’s veto in the United Nations Security Council between the years 2007 – 2019. The goal of the thesis is to reveal the bias performance of the Security Council, specifically analysing the case of Russia, as the main body which is responsible for the achievement of fundamental human rights, values and peace.
