This chapter takes a close look at the film at the center of the influential<br> interaction research project the Natural History of an Interview. The film, commonly<br> known under the alias of its main character "Doris", was made in May 1956 by<br> the anthropologist and cybernetician Gregory Bateson and the cinematographer<br> David Myers. It was subsequently studied in detail by an interdisciplinary group<br> of psychiatrists, linguists, and anthropologists brought together by the psychiatrist<br> Frieda Fromm-Reichmann.
