The importance of coastal geomorphological setting as a controlling factor on microtextural (original) (raw)
This study investigates the influence of coastal geomorphological settings on the microtextural features of quartz grains in tsunami deposits, specifically the 2010 Maule tsunami in Chile. Analyses reveal geographic dependencies in microtextures, with varying occurrences of dissolution textures and mechanical imprints across different coastal environments. The findings emphasize the importance of contextualizing geomorphological settings to accurately interpret microtextural signatures in sediment samples from tsunami events.
