Students’ Impressions of Online Learning in Albania

The consequences of epidemic Covid-19 forced the education sector around the world to face online learning among these two last years. Many countries in the world had to face this new and very difficult challenge. Unfortunately, the education system of Albania was one of those that had to overcome the difficulties and continue the academic year for all its levels. The main purpose of our study was to analyze the impression of Sports University of Tirana’s students about some aspects of online learning. The Attitude of High-School Students Regarding Online Learning During Covid-19 Pandemic Situation: The Case of Albania

In this paper, we present a study of the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic situation created in the pre-university education system in Albania for two years. We are mainly interested in students' attitudes on online learning and its effect on their knowledge and future learning. For this, we have performed a survey composed of 28 questions answered by 1506 high-school students, of which 67.5 % study in public schools. Most students, 87.7 % of them prefer traditional learning, i.e., being in the classroom, while only 6.6 % seem to prefer more online learning. 79.4 % of the students have answered that they had the entire necessary appliance for online learning, but only 9.3 % of the total students admitted that they never had technical problems during online learning/teaching, while most of them usually had. Internet use for learning by the undergraduate students of University of Tirana in Albania

The development of information technology has reduced the information processing costs and the internet has facilitated the communication. Internet has become an incredible valuable information resource. The goal of this study is to analyze the use of Internet by undergraduate students of University of Tirana in Albania. Data were collected through the use of a questionnaire during the period December 2016-February 2017 from the second-year and third-year enrolled students at Faculty of Economy and Faculty of Natural Sciences of University of Tirana. The results indicate that 28.8% of the students use Internet for academic learning for five or more hours weekly and 84.5% of them use social networks every day. The results of chi-square test of independence indicated significant relations between year of study, Faculty, study program, number of hours spent daily on Internet, computer use skills and the number of hours spent weekly on the Internet for learning. The results of Tobit regression model indicated that gender, program of study, and faculty, where the respondents were attending their studies, influence the number of hours spent weekly on Internet for learning. The results of this study are useful for students, lecturers and administration of University.

Global pandemic situation caused of COVID-19 brought challenges in every aspect of our lives. One of the greatest challenges in our country was educational institutions closure. Aleksandër Moisiu University-Durrës in Albania was one of the first higher education institutions that implemented online teaching through different platforms such as “Google Classroom”, “Google Meet”, and “Zoom”. Students’ Perception of Online Learning during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Case Study on the English Students of STKIP Pamane Talino

The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the Indonesian government through its Ministry of Education and Culture to implement policies moving conventional classroom to online classroom. The current study is a collective case study consisting of analysis of survey on students' perceptions of their online learning during the pandemic. Sixty-six students of English Language Education Study Program at Pamane Talino College of Education (STKIP Pamane Talino) were involved. Their perception s of their online classroom that were recorded through a survey. The recorded perceptions are in terms of students' participation, accessibility, material and assignment delivery, and the use of e-learning platforms. The results were then summarized into tables and narrative descriptions. The study identified three major obstacles in conducting online learning in English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino: the first is availability and sustainability of internet connection, the second is accessibility of the teaching media, and the last is the compatibility of tools to access the media. The result of the current study suggests that accessibility is still the major factor influencing the success of online learning. Online learning for English Language Education Study Program at STKIP Pamane Talino, and potentially Indonesia in general, requires some more friendly platforms so that students' participation can be increased. This is especially for students who reside in rural areas with limited internet connections and other support systems.

Adaptation and Perception of Online Learning during COVID-19 Pandemic by Albanian University Students

The aim of this study is to evaluate the perceptions and challenges of Albanian students during online learning carried out due to COVID-19 pandemic. The students were invited via email to give their perception of ongoing online learning. Responses were obtained from 627 college students from various study fields, such as natural, medical, and life sciences. The results showed that students had a more positive attitude towards the classroom learning environment. The main challenges that students faced were the unavailability of internet connection and the lack of technology devices. Students enrolled in technology-based programs and also those with high academic performance were more comfortable and satisfied with online classes (p0.001). During the pandemic period, in terms of continuation of education in Kosovo, it was presented as an immediate request, immediate action and otherwise, by teachers. Teachers who are considered as the main agents of social change management, tried to show again that they are key factors in this regard. Teachers of all levels in education have been committed to giving their best to continue their daily work, despite the challenges they regularly face, due to the pandemic situation (COVID-19). Some of them did not have difficulty adapting to new situations and working conditions, but, for a significant part of teachers, online learning was not a trivial problem. The purpose of this study is to research and present the opinions of teachers regarding the challenges and advantages of online learning since the beginning of the pandemic until today. To carry out this research the mixed method was used all along with the quantitative and qualitative ones. Online questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were used as research tools. The number of respondents was 120 in total, of which 69 were females and 51 males. Their age and work experiences have been different. Based on the findings generated by the questionnaires and interviews, we can say that online learning has been presented as a challenge for teachers; however, their work results have been satisfactory.
