Empowerment of Fishing Community Business Groups in Kalibaru Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta

The purpose of this activity was to empower fishing communities in Kalibaru, Cilincing through introducing knowledge of food handling and processing technologies, especially green mussels-based products. The partner involved in this study was the Annisa Bakti Business Group having 15 members of single parents. The profession of family members was green mussels peeler. Peeling process performed was through boiling, peeling the shell, icing, and then selling. The handling of green mussels with peeling was mainly intended to solve the problem overproduction which was not absorbed by the market as life green mussels. The appearance of peeled green mussels were usually pale, and the peeler usually introduced synthetic dyes to make them more attractive. The types of dyes used are generally not allowed for food because they are harmful to health. Saramaake, as one of the villages in Kao Bey of East Halmahera, is known as a fish-catch production area, with an anchovy (Stolephorus spp) as its main catch commodity. These training and mentoring on community empowerment activities were carried out from June 2017 to January 2018, aimed to improve knowledge and skills on lift-net fishery, fish quality, marketing of fish products, and institutional development (cooperative). The training and mentoring were carried out through presentations of theory, discussions and practicals for participants (n = 19 persons; consisting of 9 fishermen and 10 fish processors). Based on the activities conducted, the community has a better knowledge and skills of the lift-net fisheries and were able to process marine products better quality. This study analyzed the appropriateness of empowerment program regarding the needs of traditional fish processors. This study applied the descriptive qualitative method using the model of Context – Input – Process – Product (CIPP) and Focus Group Discussion. Various activities were described based on observation and interview data. This study was conducted in three areas in Lampung Province, namely: East Lampung Regency, Pringsewu Regency, and Tanggamus Regency. Community empowerment activities were carried out in Alor Regency - East Nusa Tenggara through the application of fish-based food processing technology in 2018 & 2019, aiming to: (1) improve the economy of the people in the coastal areas of Alor Island; and (2) develop the concept of sustainable empowerment. The intervention stage was approached with the Community Capacity Building method. Anchovy (Stolephorus spp) is one of the better-known marine fishery commodities in Indonesia. The fish species is commonly caught in the Saamaake coastal waters, East Halmahera Regency, in the North Moluccas Province of Indonesia. The present study was conducted for 7 months from June 2016 to January 2017, aiming to evaluate the management of community empowerment through improving the quality of anchovy product and initiation of market development. The methods utilized in this study were survey, training and mentoring. The targets of the study were the fishermen (15 fisherman-groups being 60 persons in total). The program implementation was conducted based on a needs assessment result which was evaluated at the end of the program. This research was qualitative in nature, through phenomenology of approach, but the results showed that coastal community empowerment holds an important role, in addition to strengthening the economic base of coastal communities also have an impact on the distribution of seafood to Indonesia Society consumed and exported, so that with the potential results of the sea that was owned directly by coastal communities is expected to be the locomotive of development who are able to prosper both micro level as well as the macro level, the concept of empowerment is made by the Government to do continuous improvement, given the komplesitas problems of coastal communities is very need attention, it takes policies and support from various parties to make coastal communities are able to live prosperous peace in the form of either physical or non physical.

Lamu Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency, which is included in the Tomini Bay area, has abundant potential for marine products such as squid. For this reason, we empower fishermen housewives through training and mentoring activities for fishermen housewives in making processed squid products in the form of squid sambal as an entrepreneurial opportunity in Lamu Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Regency. The purpose of this activity is to add insight and skills regarding the manufacture of processed squid products as a business opportunity and improve the community's economy, especially for fishing housewives in Lamu village. The method used is training and mentoring with an active participatory approach. The result of this activity is that fishermen's housewives already have insight regarding the manufacture of processed squid in the form of squid sambal products. This activity provides new knowledge for fishermen housewives that squid sambal can be made into a product that can be marketed in the community and is an opportunity for MSME businesses. Squid sambal products are accepted by the public from the aspects of color, taste, aroma and texture of sambal in the likes category. The training activity for making processed squid was successfully carried out, seen from the participants who enthusiastically took part in the training activities and the acceptance of participants in the category of liking processed squid products. Untuk itu, kami melakukan pemberdayaan ibu-ibu rumah tangga nelayan melalui kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga nelayan dalam membuat produk olahan cumi berupa sambal cumi sebagai peluang wirausaha di desa Lamu Kecamatan Batudaa Pantai Kabupaten Gorontalo. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah menambah wawasan dan keterampilan mengenai pembuatan produk olahan cumi sebagai peluang usaha dan meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat khususnya bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga nelayan di desa Lamu. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan berpendekatan partisipatif aktif. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah ibu-ibu rumah tangga nelayan sudah memiliki wawasan terkait pembuatan olahan cumi dalam bentuk produk sambal cumi. Kegiatan ini memberikan pengetahuan baru bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga nelayan bahwa sambal cumi dapat dijadikan sebuah produk yang dapat dipasarkan di masyarakat dan merupakan peluang usaha UMKM. Produk sambal cumi diterima oleh masyarakat dari aspek warna, rasa, aroma dan tekstur sambal pada kategori suka. Kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan olahan cumi ini berhasil dilaksanakan dilihat dari peserta yang antusias mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan serta penerimaan peserta pada kategori suka terhadap produk olahan cumi.
