In an effort to help reduce fire hazards in Oman, an extensive study was conducted for its causes and results in the country. In a previous paper 1 , the authors could establish the severity of fire accidents that took place in the last decade. In continuation, a questionnaire was conducted in order to investigate the public awareness in Oman about fire regulations. The results of this questionnaire will give light as to what extent people are aware about fire safety precautions and the procedures which must be taken in the event of fire, to identify their main weaknesses and areas where they lack knowledge, and to investigate in what way they are interested. In addition to that, statistical data results from this questionnaire will be valuable in understanding the extent of awareness of people about fire regulations and how strict these regulations are complied with. This will be helpful in improving statistics, education, methodologies, design and tools for fire safety.
Critical Factors Affecting Fire Safety in High-Rise Buildings in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE

The purpose of this paper is to identify the critical factors affecting fire accidents in high-rise residential buildings in the Emirate of Sharjah in order to find solutions that contribute to reducing injuries and deaths from fire accidents. A large urban expansion of the Emirate of Sharjah has taken place in the form of high-rise buildings, and the Emirate is now third in the UAE in terms of the number of high-rise buildings and is home to 19% of the population. As a consequence, an increase in the rate of fire accidents has also been observed. INTRODUCTION: Fires in residential buildings, commercial complexes, and small and large industries cause a lot of financial, human, and environmental damage in different communities annually. This study is conducted with the aim to evaluate the fire risk in the selected commercial buildings in Mashhad, Iran. METHODS: This was a descriptive-cross-sectional and applied study conducted in the spring of 2019 on 10 separate commercial buildings in Mashhad. First, the necessary checklists for fire risk assessment from the NFPA 101 standard were prepared and compiled by the researcher, and the necessary information was completed according to the field surveys and obtaining the urban planning documents of the buildings. This is a research in progress where authors seek to investigate the factors of residential fires. As part of the research, this paper aims to analyse the fire problems faced by the community of Malaysia. Data regarding residential fires between 2012 and 2014 was collected from fire investigation reports prepared by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department. Descriptive analysis is conducted to summarize the data collected and describe the common phenomenon of residential fires. The distributions of the fire characteristics suggested that residential fires are commonly occurred during daytime, confined within the room of fire origin, caused by electrical failure and cooking negligence, started from kitchen, and occurred in multi-units housing. Further analysis will be conducted in order to investigate the relationships between the characteristics and residential fires.
A Five-Year Fire Incidents Data Analysis in the City of Ozamiz

Fire incidents in any cause may lead to a devastating effect to the community or family where the fire incident happens. It is considered as an accident that could destroy properties of the family in a very short period of time. This study determined the five-year trend analysis of fire incidents in Ozamiz City using the available historical data from 2016-2021. The study employed retrospective method of research. Since it is a retrospective study, the result of interest has already occurred, and the data obtained is from records, no volunteers will be used in this study. However, the Bureau of Fire Protection Officers of Ozamiz City will offer the study's relevant data. According to the findings, electrical related fire incidents are the most common cause of fire in Ozamiz City, whereas LPG related fires are the least likely to cause fires. It is suggested that Ozamiz City's Bureau of Fire Protection hold monthly lectures or programs on fire safety and prevention in the community. Ozamiz City residents should exercise caution when leaving their homes and avoid using the octopus connection to avoid power outages. Furthermore, staff from Ozamiz City's Bureau of Fire Protection should conduct more frequent fire inspections in the city's businesses.

Fire is universally accepted as important to human life, it was regarded as the greatest discovery made by humanity, and in the technological evolution in the growth of civilization. Safe practices have to be implemented and maintained at all times as a preventive action and also have a fire protection system in place, including adequate numbers of firefighting appliances, as recommended by the The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) and installed and maintained in operating condition at all times. Fires and related incidents in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (2006–2013)

Fire incidents in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, reported to the Forensic and Mechanical Engineering section of the Dubai Police Forensic Laboratory during 2006-2013 were reviewed. A detailed examination of more than 5000 incidents, representing a wide range of fire types is presented. Statistical comparisons on the type of incident and the cause and origin of the fire have been evaluated. City areas covered by each police station are also identified. The outcomes of the study indicate that more than one third of the total number of incidents involved motor vehicles and these accounted for more than half of all deliberately set fires in Dubai. A further one third of the incidents reviewed were in residential units. Electrical failures were shown to pose the highest risk of accidental fire and the Bur Dubai Police Station was the busiest in terms of fire investigation caseload.
Fire Risk Assessment of Residential Buildings Based on Fire Statistics from Selangor

Fire risk becomes an important issue in building fire safety. In consequence, the incidents kill and injure thousands of people every year, besides the significant damage and loss. This research aims to identify the fire risk for different types of buildings in Selangor using Brushlinsky’s Approach. Data regarding fires between 2012 and 2017 was collected from fire investigation reports prepared by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department. The results showed that most fire cases occur at residential buildings and commercial buildings in which terrace house recorded the highest number with a total of 1,458 cases out of 6,015 cases. Meanwhile, the probability of the fire occurrences building in Selangor is increasing from 0 to 2 case per day. However, the probability of 3 or more fire occurrences in a day is decreasing for each year.
