Problems of youth: A study of college students in context to their gender

The purpose of the study was to examine gender differences, if any, in problems faced by youth in adolescence with the help of Youth Problem Inventory (YPI) designed by Mithilesh Verma. Youth Problem Inventory explores various bottlenecks experienced by youth under four main areas namely family problems, college problems, social problems and personal problems. 56 participants, 28 males and 28 females, were included in the study and completed the questionnaire. Results were calculated with the help of statistical tools like mean and t-test. The results indicated that no significant gender differences lie in family problems, college problems, social problems or personal problems of college students. A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE PROBLEMS OF ADOLESCENT BOYS AND GIRLS STUDENTS

Adolescence is a period of stress and storm where both boys and girls face many challenges in their lives. Adolescent students spend nearly eight hours in the school for their academic development. Hence school plays a vital role in moulding the personality of each individual. Hence, the present study aims to know and compare the level of student’s problem of adolescent boys and girls and emphasizes the need for life skills by adopting Descriptive Research Design. The researcher will administer Students Problem Inventory developed by Dr. Harkant Badami in 1977 and the reliability coefficient is 0.832.Hence the researcher has selected one boy’s school and one girl’s school for the study. The universe of the study consist of 400 students studying in IX standard and the researcher collected data from 200 students(boys – 100, Girls – 100) by using stratified proportionate sampling method and data will be analyzed and necessary life skills Intervention will be suggested to promote well being of school students.

A Study on the Problems of Adolescent Students in School

Adolescence is a conversion period from childhood to adulthood where the adolescents face lot of physical changes, psychological changes and social changes which pose a major threat for their positive development. They are loaded with academic pressure and also have problems in finding their friends, adjusting with the peers in class and maintaining cordial relationship with teachers. Even at home they find it very difficult to adjust with their parents and siblings. The study aims to analyze the problems faced by the adolescent students in school and suggest suitable life skills for their positive development by adopting descriptive research design and using systematic random sampling method to collect data from 101 students studying in XI standard by executing Student Problems inventory developed by Dr.Harkant D.Badami(1977). The findings revealed that there is significant relationship between the age and the level of adolescent student's problem.

Gender Difference Between Youth Problems

The study was undertaken to study the youth Problems of male and female college students of district Jalna (M.S.). The sample of the study consisted 400college students (200 male students and 200 female students). Randomly secreted from Difference College of Jalna District (M.S.). Youth Problem Inventory by Dr. M. Verma (2004) was used data collection. The data collected was statistically treated by using mean, SD and one way ANOVA. The findings of the study revealed that Girls have significantly high Family Problem than Boy. Girls have significantly high School Problem than Boy. Need of Guidance for Youth Problem of Higher Secondary School Students belongs to Rural Area- A Study

In the present day, Indian adolescents are faced varieties of problems which can be associated with their family, school, social and personal life. Adolescence is a period of active growth and development physically, sexually, socially and emotionally. It is a period of up and down and stress and strain. This is also a very important phase of their education life. During their higher secondary education, they have to make very important decisions regarding to their future. Due to sudden changes of many aspects of their life, adolescences are faces adjustment problems on the school and society. Therefore it is necessary that adolescents get proper guidance from the society, school and family relative to their problem. The main objectives of this study are to examine the need of guidance for youth problems of higher secondary school students belong to rural area. 400 higher secondary school students from rural area of Bilaspur district are randomly selected for the study. Guidance Need Inventory developed by Dr. J. S. Grewal and Youth Problem Inventory developed by Dr. M. Verma are used for the study. It has been found that there is a significant correlation between guidance need and youth problem of higher secondary school students belong to rural area.

A Study to Assess the Psycho-Social Problems among Adolescent Students of Selected Pre-University Colleges

Psycho-social problems have been identified as vital among adolescents at particular times when they enter the Pre-University. The various reasons were examination stress, personal and family life events. Psychosocial health problems are one of the hidden public health problems amongst the children and adolescents. Early identification, diagnosis and interventions are very important for preventing further complications. The aim of the study is to assess the psycho-social problems among adolescent students of selected Pre-University colleges. Taking 286 adolescent students from 3 Pre University Colleges of Belthangady Taluk of Dakshina Kannada district were selected through purposive sampling method. A Cross-sectional comparative descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The study was conducted in selected Urban and Rural areas of Sangli district,to assess the psychosocial problems among adolescents of selected urban areas and rural areas, and to compare the psychosocial problems of adolescents between selected urban and rural areas. The sample comprised of 500 sample from urban area and 500 sample from rural area of Sangli district. Sample was selected using nonprobability purposive sampling technique. Data collected by Self-structured questionnaire to assess psychosocial problems of Adolescents and data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.The finding of the study showed that 4.8% of urban adolescents and 5.4% of rural adolescents have scholastic problems. In domain of emotional problems 14.4% adolescents from urban area and 15.2% from rural area facing emotional problems. 13.4% adolescents from urban area and 11.4% form rural area have communication problems. 22.2% adolescents from urban area and 18% from rural area facing the interdependent problems. And in the domain of social problems 19.2% adolescents from urban area and 17.8% from rural area facing the social problems. The study concludes that adolescents of urban area have slightly high percentage of communication, interdependent and social problems as compare to rural adolescents. Were as adolescents from rural area has slightly high percentage of scholastic and emotional problems as compare to adolescents from urban area. Results showed that there is no significant difference in the average score of psychosocial problems between the urban and rural area adolescents.

PREVALENCE OF EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS AMONG ADOLESCENT STUDENTS.

The present study was conducted to examine the prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems among adolescent students studying class tenth to graduation from the state Andhra Pradesh with specific reference to Vijayawada city. A total of 200 students were selected, between 13 and 18 years with a mean age of 16.26 (?1.87) years participated in the study to examine the prevalence of emotional and behavioural problems of students and to determine whether problems varied according to age, gender and so on. More than half the sample (69%) constituted girls. Data was obtained for administering the English and Telugu versions of Youth Self Report (YSR) developed by Achenbach. The significant influence of age, gender and number of friends on certain behavioural and emotional problems were noticed and father?s occupation has been found that no significant influence.

Psychosocial Problems among Adolescent Students: An Exploratory Study in the Central Region of Nepal

Recently, schools have drawn attention as dominant factors for psychosocial development of students. Nepal, however, has limited studies on this issue. This study sought to assess the prevalence of psychosocial dysfunction and its association with family-related factors among adolescent Nepali students. Taking 787 adolescent students from 13 schools of Hetauda municipality, we accomplished a cross-sectional study. A set of structured questionnaire and Y-PSC was adopted to collect data, which were analyzed using SPSS with 95% of confidence interval. One-fifth (17.03%) adolescent students suffered with psychosocial dysfunction. Male students (9.50%) were more affected, compared to female students (7.80%). The proportion of psychosocial dysfunction rose with the rise in age group and grade. Frequency of family dispute was significantly associated with psychosocial dysfunction OR = 13.24 (95% CI: 2.27-17.23). Review of literature will show sparkling light on the path of the researcher to acquaint himself with the current status of the selected field. The researcher will get good chunk of ideas relevant to the chosen topic and how to process further with confident and clear direction. Basically, from the review the researcher will come to know the tools, methods used and findings from the study followed by research gaps. A total of 21 journals were reviewed related to number of adolescence issues across the globe including both qualitative and quantitative. It was found that all the reviews are of equal importance related to adolescence problems, as all the researchers have thoroughly discussed about the problems followed by solutions at various length and breadth.
