Stability and controllability of a class of 2-D linear systems with dynamic boundary conditions
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I-regular Papers, 2002
Discrete linear repetitive processes are a distinct class of two-dimensional (2-D) linear systems with applications in areas ranging from long-wall coal cutting through to iterative learning control schemes. The feature which makes them distinct from other classes of 2-D linear systems is that information propagation in one of the two independent directions only occurs over a finite duration. This, in turn, means that a distinct systems theory must be developed for them. In this paper a complete characterization of stability and so-called pass controllability (and several resulting features), essential building blocks for a rigorous systems theory, under a general set of initial, or boundary, conditions is developed. Finally, some significant new results on the problem of stabilization by choice of the pass state initial vector sequence are developed.
Controllability and Gramians of 2D Continuous Time Linear Systems
2020
The controllability of a class of 2D linear time varying continuous time control systems is studied. The state space representation is provided and the formulas of the states and the input-output map of these systems are derived. The fundamental concepts of controllability and reachability are analysed and suitable controllability and reachability Gramians are constructed to characterize the controllable and the reachable time varying systems. In the case of time invariant 2D systems, some algorithms are developed to calculate different controllability Gramians as solutions of adequate Lyapunov type equations. Corresponding Matlab programs are implemented to solve these Lyapunov equations.
Control theory for a class of 2D continuous-discrete linear systems
International Journal of Control, 2004
This paper considers a general class of 2D continuous-discrete linear systems of both systems theoretic and applications interest. The focus is on the development of a comprehensive control systems theory for members of this class in a unified manner based on analysis in an appropriate algebraic and operator setting. In particular, important new results are developed on stability, controllability, stabilization, and optimal control.
Adaptive control is an effective method of controlling unknown dynamical systems. While many research results on one-dimensional (1-D) adaptive control are available, little has been accomplished in the area of 2-D system theory. The main reason is due primarily to the difficult algebra of 2-D systems and the complexity of the underlying theory. In particular, when both independent variables in the 2-D space are unbounded, the problem is very involved. In this paper, we propose a model reference adaptive control scheme for 2-D discrete systems which are described by Roesser state space model and their both independent variables are unbounded. The input of the underlying 2-D system is assigned according to a closed-loop control law incorporating the system state and the reference model state as well as input. In this closed-loop control law, certain feedback gains are fixed, but others are adjustable. Those adjustable feedback gains are updated two-dimensionally subsequently, utilizi...
On controllability of diagonal systems with one-dimensional input space
Systems & Control Letters, 2006
This paper deals with diagonal systems on a Hilbert space with a onedimensional input space and a (possibly unbounded) input operator. A priori it is not assumed that the input operator is admissible. Necessary and sufficient conditions for different notions of controllability such as null controllability and exact controllability are presented. These conditions, which are given in terms of the eigenvalues of the diagonal operator and in terms of the input operator, are linked with the theory of interpolation in Hardy spaces.
Stability and Control of a Physical Class of 2D Continuous-Discrete Linear
2006
In this paper we give new results on the analysis and control of differential linear repetitive processes which are a distinct class of 2D linear systems of both systems theoretic and applications interest. The new results relate to stability and control in the presence of uncertainty in the process state space model. The family of control laws used have a well defined physical basis in terms of the underlying process dynamics.
