Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî (The Dîvân of Şems-i Tebrîzî); consists of the poems of Mawlana which do not take place in his poetry book of Mathnawi. They are known as Dîvân-ı Kebîr (Great Divan), Külliyât-i Şems-i Tebrîzî (The Collection of Şems-i Tebrizi) or Gazeliyyât-i Şems (The Songs of Şems). This book was named Dîvân-ı Kebîr by Mawlawis. Though gazel was written in the form of poetry, Mawlana named some poems of Dîvân-ı Kebîr as 'kıta'(quartets) and some others as "kaside". All of the gazelles in the Dîvân are in Persian language, though there are also some couplets in Arabic, Greek, and Turkish. The poems in the Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî reveal the excitement and enthusiasm of Mawlana. One of the basic topics in these poems is the eagerness that the wiseman feels for his original country (paradise). There is no any direct address in the Dîvân-ı Kebîr. The oldest copy of Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî is found in the Mawlana Museum in Konya. This copy was written by the scribe Hasan b. Osman Mevlevî between the years 768-770 AH. Generally, today based on this copy, a work called Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî was prepared. This article is the translation of the article "Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî" in the Iran Dânişnâme-i Jihân-i İslam. In this study, information was given about Dîvân-ı Şems-i Tebrîzî and it was mentioned by whom it was prepared later.
