Customer and non-customer perspectives for examining corporate reputation
Journal of Product & Brand …, 2009
Purpose -Several studies on corporate reputation have proposed a customer-based approach for assessing corporate reputation. Other studies proposed examining corporate reputation from the perspective of other primary stakeholder groups such as employees, investors or suppliers. Hence this paper aims to examine corporate reputation by considering both the customer's and the non-customer's views. Design/methodology/approach -This study was applied to the US wireless telecommunications industry. A random sample of 1,088 respondents composed of 518 customers and 570 representing the non-customers, was generated for this study. The sample was randomly distributed by age, gender, income, education and geographic location. Findings -The findings of this study revealed that the formation of perceptions about corporate reputation differ between customers and noncustomers. The dimension of emotional appeal is specific to the customer group and the dimension of vision and leadership is specific to the noncustomer group. Finally, social and environmental responsibility was not a significant element in forming the perceptions about corporate reputation for both customers and non-customers.

The aim of the present study is the proposal of a set of drivers on which the organization can operate to improve its reputation. These drivers are derived from a new model ("Governance-structure-system" model), which enables the understanding of the working mechanisms of corporate communication activities of large companies. Starting from the individualization of the differences between corporate image and reputation, we propose a causal map of key influences on image and reputation. Then, we describe the factors of GSS model and select, from them, the specific drivers for corporate reputation management. In other words, we individualize the drivers through which it is possible to act on corporate key influences affecting corporate reputation. In the second part of the study, we present a critical analysis of the drivers actually used in some crisis cases, come to some conclusions and try to point out some directions for future research.
The Impact Of Corporate Reputation On Customer Trust
Increasing competition in a globalized economy promotes the identification of sustainable competitive advantage drivers in the field of intangible assets. Creating and exploiting intangible assets allows companies to drive markets, rather than to be market driven. Recent literature acknowledges corporate reputation as the most critical, strategic, and enduring intangible asset of the firm. Investigating its consequences is therefore of interest to practice and research alike. This study examines one important customer-related consequence of corporate reputation, customer trust, for one important stakeholder group, customers, within telecommunications sector in Turkey. Based on a sample of 580 GSM subscribers, empirical results of the study indicate that corporate reputation contributes to customer trust.

Business Research
The study of reputation figures prominently in management research, yet the increasing number of publications makes it difficult to keep track of this growing body of literature. This paper provides a systematic review of the literature based on a large-scale bibliometric analysis. We draw on bibliographic data of 5885 publications published until 2016, inclusively, and combine co-citation analysis and bibliographic coupling with network visualization. Results show how research on corporate reputation is embedded in the broader field of scholarship on reputation in general. When zooming into the publication cluster on corporate reputation more closely, the concept’s origins in economics, organizational studies, and marketing as well as corresponding theoretical and methodological discussions are revealed. Beyond providing a structured overview of the field, the bibliometric analyses also reveal conceptual incoherencies that lead to ambiguities in research. Our assessment builds on t...
