Analysis of Factors Affecting the Number of Foreign Tourists to Indonesia

Indonesia's tourism potential can be used as the main driver of the Indonesian economy. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector and analyze the factors that influence the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative analysis method and static panel model analysis. The type of data used in this study is secondary data, including annual time series data for five years, from 2010 to 2014. It also includes cross-section data from nine countries that are the main visitors to the Indonesian tourism sector, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, UK, and the USA. The development and growth of the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector increased in the period 2010 to 2014. The number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia is influenced by the variables of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of the country of origin, economic distance, relative prices, and security dummy which have a significant effect on the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, while the exchange rate and dummy travel warning variables have no significant effect. Therefore, the government needs to maintain the stability of the exchange rate and inflation rate as well as the coordination of related parties and institutions in maintaining political, economic, social stability and increasing the promotion of Indonesian tourism to foreign countries.

Determinants of Domestic Tourism Demand in Indonesia

Domestic tourists have an essential role in the development of tourism in Indonesia. Knowledge of the variables that cause domestic tourists to travel is essential as one step to driving national tourism. This study aims to identify the economic variables that affect the travel of domestic tourists. The impact of changes in income, fuel prices, and the exchange rate of Rupiah per the US dollar will be estimated and tested. Dummy variables are also used to represent the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Multiple regression models will be used to analyze the relationship and influence of these variables on domestic tourists travelling using time series data for the period 2001-2020. An important finding in this study is the significance of income and fuel prices variables. It shows that income and transportation costs are the determining factors for domestic tourists travelling in Indonesia. Another finding is that the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 caused a decrease in domestic tourist travel.

The determinant of household tourism expenditure in Central Java Province, Indonesia

The purpose of our paper want to determine the factors of household tourism expenditure in Central Java Province, Indonesia. This paper used ordinary least squares regression. The findings from this paper, (1) the significant factors that affecting household tourism expenditure are marital status, sex, household income per capita, education for head of household, education for member of household, number of household, urbanrural, and industrial origin for head of household; (2) For variables which have positive relationship with household tourism expenditure, the variable of marital status has a biggest value from others; and (3) For variables which have negative relationship with household tourism expenditure, the variable of industrial origin for head household has a biggest value from others.

Factors involved in the number of tourist visits in the Muara Badak, Indonesia

The natural tourism sector which still exists today is the beach. Beach attractions have brought economic, social, and cultural activities in an attractive environment. This study discusses at factors such as: tourist revenue, cost of travel, cost of travel to other attractions, travel time, and facilities, which influence the number of tourist visits in the Muara Badak district, in Indonesia. The study approach was designed by a survey and we conducted interviews with 99 questionnaires (domestic and foreign tourists). The use of the OLS model is used to simplify data analysis techniques. Empirical findings presented that tourist income and facilities significantly influence the existence of tourist visits. This is evidenced by the significance of the two variables are 0.007 and 0.035 (p <0.05). The implications of this study provide evidence of the importance of supporting factors such as travel cost and travel time for tourists because it is inseparable.

Economic Impact of Tourism Development in Samosir Regency, North Sumatera, Indonesia

Samosir Regency's small contribution of the tourism industry to regional revenue shows that the development of tourism is still not optimal, both in terms of tourism objects, government and community role. This research aims to identify and evaluate the economic impact of tourism development in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The method used in this research was the interval score with a median division of 100 respondents in Samosir Regency related to tourism. The primary data derived from questionnaires and interview results, while secondary data were from study-related local government offices. Using Spearman correlation, data analysis was conducted. The findings showed that simultaniously tourism products and tourism visits had a positive and significant impact on the economy. The relationship between tourism products and tourism visits on the economy is very significant and able to explain the economy by 67.70%.

Tourism Development in Indonesia

This considers issues pertaining to tourism development in Indonesia and will examine several aspects of tourism growth, regional tourism backgrounds, and tourism development, and the impact of the transitional period of regional autonomy in Indonesia (1999 - present). At a national level, tourism growth is analysed in relation to such aspects as domestic-foreign visitors, tourist destinations, and the significance of tourism to the regional economy in Indonesia. Discussion of regional tourist development follows. Other issues examined include: investment relating to regional economics; tourism stakeholders and destinations, regional investment and tourism impacts, and the military and Indonesian Chinese involvement in the tourism industry. Finally, project developments will be considered from a regional autonomy perspective to distinguish the key stakeholders of tourism project developments, particularly in the three regional tourism centres of Yogyakarta, Bali, and Batam.

Factors Affecting the Purchase Behavior: A Case Study on International Tourists in West Java Indonesia

This study aimed to examine the effect of predictor variables (Age, Gender, Main Purpose, Frequency Visiting, Length of Stay, Traveling Partner, and Kind of Accommodations) with tourist’s expenditure during the tour in West Java Indonesia. Data was collected from Passenger Exit Survey in Husein Sastranegara Airport on the period of September to October 2013. The result is the relationship between the predictor variables with tourist’s expenditure has a weak relationship, with great influence a total of 16.90%. While 83.20% of tourist’s expenditure variables influenced by other variables outside Age, Gender, Main Purpose, Visiting Frequency, Length of Stay, Traveling Partner, and Kind of Accommodations.
