Emotional Maturity of Adolescent Students in Relation to Their Family Relationship

The present study is aimed to investigate emotional maturity of adolescent students in relation to family relationship. For this purpose, sample of 60 adolescent students (30 boys and 30 girls) of higher secondary level were taken from Karnal city. For this purpose two questioners were used 1 st inventory standardized by Dr. G.P. Sherry and Dr. J.C. Sinha and 2 nd was emotional maturity scale which is given by Dr. Yashvir Sinha and Mahesh Bhargava. The testing of hypotheses was done by using 'r' test to find out the relationship and't' test was used to comparing the score of two groups (boys and girls). The result reveals that there is a significant difference in emotional maturity of boys and girls adolescent. The result also reveals that there is significant relation between emotional maturity and family relationship of adolescent students. This shows that family relationship determinates emotional maturity of adolescent students..

Effect of Home Environment on Different Dimensions of Emotional Maturity of Adolescents

The first lesson of a child's life is learnt at home. The family nurtures the individual and prepares him for his role and function in the society. Healthy parental relations in the home are a medium for making children into wholesome and adjustable personalities. These ongoing changes in the society have not only affected the thinking of people but has also changed the perceptions of people, their lifestyles, even the dimensions of anxiety have changed, now even the small children are facing different kinds of pressures, so adolescence which is considered an age of storm and strife is bound to have more pressures which affect their emotional maturity. The main objective of the topic is to find out the effect of home environment on different dimensions of emotional maturity of adolescents of Bilaspur District of Chhattisgarh. A sample size of 120 Adolescents was selected and taken up for the study. Home Environment Inventory by Karuna Shankar Mishra and Emotional Maturity Scale by Dr. Yasvir Singh & Dr. Mahesh Bhargava are used for the study. It is found that there is significant effect of home environment on all the dimensions of emotional maturity of adolescents.

Study of Difference of Emotional Maturity among Adolescents of Dehradun

The purpose of the study was to investigate the level of emotional maturity of adolescents and compare adolescents in terms of sex and locality on emotional maturity. The researcher employed descriptive survey method which was included quantitative method of data collection approach. Total sample of 100 subjects were contacted personally from the rural and urban schools of Dehradun district. The sample was equally classified into rural and urban and further into boys and girls using stratified random sampling technique. Emotional Maturity scale prepared by Dr. Yashvir. Singh & Dr Mahesh Bhargava (2012) was used for data collection. Mean, SD, ANOVA and correlation were applied for the purpose. The major findings of the study were (1) boys and girls differ significantly in emotional progression, a dimension of emotional maturity; (2) there exists significant difference between rural and urban adolescents in independence, a dimension of emotional maturity.

INFLUENCE OF PARENTAL EMPLOYMENT, GRADE AND GENDER ON EMOTIONAL MATURITY OF ADOLESCENTS

The present research study was undertaken to assess and compare the emotional maturity of adolescents in relation to their gender, grade and parental employment. The sample consisted of 480 adolescent students studying in 8th, 9th and 10th standards from Hyderabad district out of which 240 are male students and the remaining 240 are female students. Emotional maturity scale was given by Dr. Yashvir Sinha and Mahesh Bhargava. The obtained data was analyzed using means S.D and 't'-test concepts. The result revealed that there was a significant difference found between the emotional maturities of grade wise students and also between emotional maturity of adolescent male and female students. It was also found that there was no significant difference between emotional maturities by parental employment of adolescent.

Influence of Home environment and peers influence on Emotional maturity of Adolescents

Emotional maturity is the tendency to deal with extreme emotions at adverse phase of life. Emotional ups and down are commonly observed at adolescent stage. It is a transitional period from childhood to being an independent adult; characterized by physical, psychological, social and emotional changes. Positive changes could only be achieved if parents maintain healthy home environment to rear their children. Adolescents tend to recognize with groups of peers based on common traits. Peer group has a great role to play in shaping the personality of adolescents. Adolescents flourish and become emotionally stable when parents understand and support, when the child is in dire need of it. This paper explores the home environment and peer involvement and its influence on emotions of adolescents.

IMPACT OF GENDER AND PARENTING STYLE ON EMOTIONAL MATURITY OF ADOLESCENTS

The purpose of the present investigation was to study the impact of gender and parenting style on the emotional maturity of adolescents. There were two independent variables, the first independent variable was a gender that was varied at two levels male and female and the second independent variable was parenting style, which varied at two levels, positive parenting style and negative parenting style, the dependent variable was Emotional maturity. For this purpose, the sample consisted of 80 subjects, 40 males and 40 females of the age range 14-18 years of age. The emotional maturity of subjects was measured by an emotional maturity scale constructed and standardized by Dr. Yashvir Singh and Dr, Mahesh Bhargava (1990). The parenting scale was used in this study for categorizing the positive and negative parenting styles, constructed by R. L. Bhardwaj, H. Sharma and A. Garg (1998). Obtained data were analyzed by using the Mean value, S.D value and two-way ANOVA. The results indicate that parenting style significantly affects the level of emotional maturity of adolescents and gender is not an influencing factor for the emotional maturity of adolescents.

EMOTIONAL MATURITY AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN RELATION TO THEIR GENDER AND TYPE OF SCHOOL

Emotional maturity means right decision taken in a right time in a right manner. We observe in our environment and surroundings, emotional maturity is very vital to all inhabitants for living with peace and harmony in their life. The current study intended to identify the emotional maturity among secondary school students in relation to their gender and type of school. The sample consists of 200 school students of private and government school. Out of which 100 were from private school students and 100 from government. The data was collected from Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh. Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) developed by the researcher was used for data collection. Mean, SD & t-test were used for data analysis. The findings revealed that there exists no significant difference in emotional maturity of male and female students but students from private and government school shows a significant difference in their emotional maturity. The study revealed that the students who studying in private schools are emotionally more matured as comparison to students belonging to government school.

The present research has been designed to study emotional maturity which is an important aspect of our daily life. Directly or indirectly it is affecting everyone living in a society. The study aimed to find out the significant difference in emotional maturity among senior secondary school students with respect to their gender (i.e. male and female); type of schools (i.e. government and private); streams (i.e. science, arts and commerce); type of families (i.e. joint and nuclear); social category (i.e. general and scheduled castes): and type of locality (i.e. rural and urban). The Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) by Dr. Yashvir Singh and Dr. Mahesh Bharagava (2012) was employed to study emotional maturity. The sample consisted of 120 senior secondary school students, out of which 60 were males and 60 were females. Collected data was analyzed through mean, standard deviation and t-test. The results revealed that there was no significant difference in emotional maturity among senior secondary school students in relation to their gender (male and female); type of school (i.e. government and private); stream (i.e. science and arts) and locality (i.e. rural and urban). There was a significant difference in the emotional maturity among senior secondary school students in relation to their type of family (i.e. joint and nuclear) and social category (general and scheduled castes).

The home-environment primarily consists of the prevalent customs, codes & traditions of the community, it is at the sametime made highly personal by the human interaction involved – Due to former fact it can safely be said that a child first comes in contact with the mysteries of a community like as he sees it reflected in the mirror of family. The Purpose of the study was to assess the Home environment and type of school on emotional maturity of adolescents.

A study on emotional maturity in an adolescent group studying at a higher secondary school in Western India

The purpose of this study was to investigate the emotional maturity in an adolescent group of 14 to 17 years of age. 173 students from a higher secondary school of Anand district participated in the study. The emotional maturity scale developed by Dr. Tara Sabapathy was used for assessing the emotional maturity of the participants. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze and understand the participants’ emotional maturity using STATA14 software. The majority of the participants (70.5%) had average emotional maturity, 21.3% participants had above average emotional maturity, 5.2% participants had below average emotional maturity and less than 3% of the participants had emotional maturity levels in the extremes (i.e. extremely low, low, high and extremely high). Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the emotional maturity levels between boys and girls.
