Financial Performance of Islamic Commercial Banks Before and During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Indonesia

The covid-19 pandemic has dropped the economy of the world. Islamic banks as part of the economy are also affected by this pandemic. The study aims to provide an overview of the performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (BUS) in Indonesia before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The measurement of financial performance will use several financial ratios, namely ROA, CAR, NPF, FDR, BOPO, and NOM. The research sample is all BUS in Indonesia. The years 2018 and 2019 will be used as the period before the Covid-19 pandemic, while 2020 and 2021 will be used as the period during the Covid-19 pandemic. It uses a quantitative method with measurement tools: independent sample t-test and multiple linear regression. The Corona Virus Diseases (Covid-19) pandemic that hit the world resulted in a decline in the performance of most companies, including reducing the performance of the world economy. Banking as a business group was also affected because the decline in company performance had an effect on the decline in banks, including Islamic banks especially the probability effect. This is due to the large number of affected customer companies causing a decrease in financing which in turn reduces profitability. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia. The performance of Islamic bank consist of capital adequacy ratio (CAR), non-performing financing (NPF), profitability as measured by return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and net operating margin (NOM)., operating expenses to operating income ratio (OEIR) and financing to deposit ratio (FDR). The population in this study were 13 Islamic commercial banks operating in Indonesia. From this population 12 banks were taken as samples and one bank was not taken because the data were incomplete. The data is taken quarterly, namely 4 quarters before the pandemic and 3 quarters during the pandemic. To test the hypothesis, the independent sample t-test was used. The results showed that the profitability as measured by ROE and NOM has a significant effect, as well as the financing to deposit ratio is also significantly different. Meanwhile, CAR, NPF, ROA, and OEIR were not affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Determinants of Indonesian banking profitability: Before and during the COVID-19 pandemic analysis

The purpose of this paper is to substantiate the determinants of Indonesian banking profitability before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and net interest margin (NIM) were used to measure banking profitability. The research population is 43 banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2020. Purposive sampling has been used to determine the research sample. The criteria are banks issued annual reports during the observation period (2019–2020). The data collection method used is documentation. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis methods and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that banks experienced a decrease in profitability during the pandemic compared to before the pandemic. ROA before the pandemic was 0.82 and dropped to 0.62 during the pandemic; ROE from 1.76 to 1.32; and NIM became 4.79 from 4.91. Comparison of Indonesian Banking Performance Pre and Post Pandemic Covid-19

This research aims to determine and analyze the performance of Indonesia's Banking Sub Sector before and during the pandemic. We apply the CAMEL method to assess the Bank's performance via CAR (Capital Adequacy Ratio), NPL (Non-Performing Loan), NPM (Net Profit Margin), ROA (Return on Assets), and LDR (Loan to Deposit Ratio) in both situations. The sample uses 42 banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 – 2020. The results show that the CAR, NPL, and NPM values during the pandemic have increased compared to before the pandemic. However, the ROA and LDR values decreased during the pandemic compared to before the pandemic. The other findings exhibit no significant differences in CAR, NPL, NPM, ROA, and LDR on bank performance before and during the pandemic. Almost all economic sectors in the world have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, including the national banking industry in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze and compare the financial performance of PT. Bank SUMUT before and during Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This study uses the CAMEL method in the selection of financial ratios to be compared. The financial ratios to be compared are the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), the Non Performing Loan (NPL) ratio, the Return on Assets (ROA) ratio, the Operating Cost and Operating Income (BOPO) ratio, and the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR). Data analysis techniques are independent sample t-test on data with normal distribution and Mann-Whitney on data that are not normally distributed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the financial performance of Indonesian State-Owned-Enterprise in banking sector before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. So far, state-owned banks have had superior financial performance, but the economic slowdown during the COVID-19 pandemic has hit their performance hard. Secondary data used in this study are collecting from each bank financial report. Financial performance analysis conducted towards Cash Acquisiton Ratio, Non Performing Loan, Loan to Deposit Ratio, and Return On Assets. Then each ratio is compared with the composite banking index. Furthermore, statistical descriptive analysis and paired sample t-test complete the data analysis. This study concludes that there are significant differences in state-owned banking financial performance before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the decline in Non Performing Loan.

Performance of Conventional Banking, Impact of Indonesia's National Economic Recovery Program Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic

The goal of this study is to look at how traditional banking has performed over the previous three years, specifically the impact of LDR(X1), CAR(X2), BOPO(X3), and NIM(X4) on ROA(Y), where stimulus measures have been used to keep the economy moving forward after the COVID-19 epidemic. Research methodology: Financial services authorities provide time-series analysis of traditional banking performance reports from 2018 to 2021, processing with Stata 16 and the multiple linear regression techniques. Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the banking economic sector, both Islamic banks and conventional banks. This article attempts to reveal a comparison of the financial performance of Islamic and conventional banking as measured using the CAMELS ratio. The camels ratio component consists of aspects of capital, assets, management, earnings, liquidity and sensitivity. This component is measured by the ratio of CAR, NPL/NPF, BOPO, ROE, LDR/FDR. The method used is the difference test with the Independent Sample T-test. The results of the study show that there are significant differences between the financial performance of Islamic and conventional banking for CAR and BOPO ratios. Meanwhile NPL/NPF, ROE and LDR/FDR did not show a significant difference.
