One of the major problems facing the Pitesti city is the road congestion that occurs in the central area of the city during the peak hours. With all the measures taken in recent years-the widening of road arteries, increasing the number of parking spaces, the creation of overground road passages-it is obvious that the problem can only be solved by a new philosophy regarding urban mobility: it is no longer possible to continue through solutions to increase the accessibility of the central area of the city, but it is necessary, on the contrary, to promote a policy of discouraging the penetration of vehicles in the city center, coupled with a policy of improving the connection between urban public transport and county public transport. This new approach is also proposed in the new Urban Mobility Plan of Pitesti city, under development. The most convincing argument for the necessity of this new orientation in the Pitesti city mobility plan is based on the analysis of the current situation of passenger transport on the territory of Pitesti city: the analysis of "public transport versus private transport" reveals a very low occupancy rate for cars and the fact that the road surface required for a passenger (the dynamic area) is much higher in the case of private transport than in the case of public transport. Measurements of passenger flows and vehicle flows on the 6 penetration ways in the city have been made and the calculations clearly demonstrate the benefits of an urban public transport system connected by "transshipment buses" to be made at the edge of the city, to the county public transport system. In terms of inter-county transport, it will continue to be connected to the urban public transport system by existing bus Station, within the city: South Bus Station and North Bus Station. The usefulness of the paper is that it identifies the solutions for sustainable mobility in Pitesti city and proposes concrete solutions for the development of the integrated passenger transport system.
Optimization Possibilities of the Urban Public Transport in Timisoara

In spite of the difficulties of the transition period, city authorities managed to preserve the functionality of the urban transportation system in Timisoara and even to perform important modernization actions. Timisoara holds several national premieres in the public transportation sector: the first electric tramway on the present territory of Romania (1899) and the first trolleybus in the country (1942). The public transportation network developed continuously, so that the Municipality of Timisoara has at the moment a dense public transportation network which serves all the quarters of the city. Study on the Opportunity to Develop an Unitary Transport System Within Pitesti-Mioveni Area
Based on the latest studies on public transport at the level of Pitesti city and suburban area, and considering the economic evolution of the Pitesti-Mioveni area, there have been identified the opportunities to develop an unitary transport system in this area by capitalizing effectively the existing transport infrastructure. In the new transport system there will be found various modes of transport, developed based on the studies proposed to be done.

In these years, the urban planning system has been reconsidered in terms of sustainable policies. The sustainability in urban areas involves attempts of urban development including environmental, social and economic improvements, policies and practices in the next generation stage. In most of Japanese cities and towns, transport planning was based on the efficiency of car vehicles use until these years.

Road traffic congestion has become a daily phenomenon in the central area of Pitesti in the peak traffic periods. In order to achieve the mobility plan of Pitesti, an important stage is the diagnostic analysis of the road traffic. For this purpose, the urban road network was formalized through a graph containing the most important 40 intersections and traffic measurements were made at all these intersections and on the main roads connecting the periurban area. The data obtained by traffic macrosimulation confirmed the overloading of the street network during peak traffic hours and the analyzes made for various road traffic organization scenarios have shown that there are sustainable solutions for urban mobility only if the road network is fundamentally reconfigured (a belt outside the city and a median ring). Thus, the necessity of realizing the road passage in the Prundu neighbourhood and the finishing of the city belt by realizing the "detour West" of the city is argued. The importance of the work is that it brings scientific arguments for the realization of these road infrastructure projects, integrated in the urban mobility plan, which will base the development strategy of the Pitesti municipality.

The article discusses the types of urban electric transport used in Belarusian cities, gives a detailed classification and comparison of available vehicles. Various options for increasing the share of environmentally friendly transport through the use of electric buses and trolleybuses are considered, an assessment and a comparative analysis of the options are given. Features of the drivers' work planning and drawing up of the schedule taking into account safety requirements are considered. A methodology for assessing the efficiency of urban passenger transport has been developed, taking into account the development of electric vehicles.

Ways to increase sustainability of the city transportation system and, particularly, measures to promote safe public transport and nonmotorized means of transport are considered in the article. Analysis of the existing positive experience shows that complex decisions for a sustainable development of the city transportation system are necessary. Technical and organizational ways to increase the transportation system's sustainability and safety are studied. The results of solution of separate tasks, aimed at completing the goal, are presented: defining transport preferences of the citizens of Naberezhnye Chelny, perspective model of bus route network, a model of an adaptive smart-bicycle. It is shown that the proposed solutions for strategic and operational management will help to enhance efficiency and safety of transportation system.
The Concept of Sustainable Development of Public Passenger Transport in Koszalin

This article aims to build the concept of sustainable development of public passenger transport in Koszalin. The analysis and evaluation concerned communication network that is planned to be used to carry out public transport, as well as transport needs, financing transport services, preferences towards means of transport, the rules of the organization of transport market and the desired standard of transport services. The conclusions include scenarios for the development of the studied public passenger transport process in Koszalin.

The traffic management systems are implemented on a large scale during the last decades in urban areas due to their feature to optimize the traffic capacity, in a simultaneous and real time, not only at the individual junctions but also the entire city level. This is achieved through the short term predictions, using the traffic data bases collected by the specific sensors from the traffic controlled crossroads or from other places into the city street network, data that's used on-line in order to optimize the traffic lights cycles onto all the controlled crossroads. In this way it is accomplished a optimal capacity for a certain traffic volume over a period of time. Using this method good results are obtained considering the reduction of the fuel consumption and of the pollution level. Another result is the increasing of the average speed of vehicles and the decreasing waiting times on the crossroads, which is beneficial for both cars and public transport. The case study for the Pitesti city highlights these aspects and shows how the urban transport model could be used for quantifying the effects of implementing the traffic management systems.
