Waste Reduction Strategy Using Lean Manufacturing Methods
Increasing the productivity of a company must be done continuously so that allows companies to compete and grow. Therefore, planning must be done well include the improvement and control activities that occur within the company so it can eliminate waste which reduces productivity. One method that can be used to eliminate waste is lean manufacturing. Lean is an ongoing effort to eliminate waste and increase the value added of products (goods and/or services) in order to provide value to customers. The goal of lean is to promote continuous customer value by improving the ratio between the value added to the waste (the waste-to-value ratio). Reducing waste in production by lean thinking - A Case study
Lean manufacturing or lean thinking is one of the widely used industrial technique worldwide and in India now widely used to improve the production efficiency of the industry by reducing the waste ('muda' in Japanese ) which is the main problem of reducing the production. In presented case study, by using the Poka-yoke, tool of lean manufacturing which means error proofing eliminate the root cause because of which defects or waste are produce in the system. Errors may be in operating or in operation carried out on the particular part. In the presented case study, seventeen percent improvement is done by eliminating root cause of rejection which improves the quality of the product and customer satisfaction.
Applying Lean Tools and Principles to Improve Sustainability of Waste Management: A Case Study
Lean is one of the systematic approach to achieve higher value for organizations through eliminate non-value-added activities. It is an integrated set of tools, techniques, and principles designed to optimize cost, quality and delivery while improving safety. In Vietnam, industry waste management and treatment has become serious issue. The aim of this research is to present the effective of Lean application for industrial wastes collecting and delivery improvement. Through a case study, this paper showed the way of Lean tools and principles applied for wastes management and treatment such as Value Stream Mapping, Pull system, Visual Control, and Andon.... to get benefit on both economic and environment. In addition, the results introduced a good experience for Vietnamese enterprises in cost saving and sustainable development in waste management.

WASTE MANAGEMENT OF AN INDUSTRIAL PRODUCT USING LEAN MANUFACTURING
The presence and development of the organization at the level of employing equipment and available resources faces significant challenges for managing waste from lean perspective for both industry and service systems. There is also a greater aspect and need to manage lean waste as it may reduce resource consumption. Al-Kufa / Iraq cement plant is employed as a case study, and evaluation of the relationship between lean management of the inventory, transportation and production is conducted. In this research, lean waste ,and 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) were employed for quantification. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to quantify these variables. Results were generated using Minitab software Version 17. Lean management contributes to reduce waste by 55%, while the lowest contribution was to recycle waste by 18%.

In the current environment of high competitiveness between companies, production systems can constitute threats if the performance of their operational processes is not able to reduce costs, waste, controlling environmental impacts and increase productivity. So, this study aims to investigate the contribution of lean production (Lean) and environmental management (Green) to reduce waste in production processes. This is an exploratory and qualitative research and it was conducted through a multiple case study applied in three companies from Ceará state in different economic sectors, using the lean production system associated with the practice of environmental management. The results provided evidence indicating that lean production associated with environmental management contributes to reducing waste in production processes.

Lean Manufacturing (LM), a manufacturing system and philosophy, was originally developed by Toyota, Japan and is now widely practiced by many manufacturers throughout the world. Lean manufacturing is a systematic approach to identifying and reducing waste (non value-added activities) through continuous improvement by flowing the product at the pull of the customer in pursuit of perfection. LM is important, primarily because of waste reduction and reduction in lead time. The objective of this paper is to identify Lean manufacturing practices in small scale industries. For this purpose some case studies were chosen and critical observations are identified. Some of these annotations are improper utilization of resources, quality tools for improvements and improper plan for location and layout. This paper includes one case study with the initiatives, observations, results and conclusions of the study carried out in a small scale industry.

Managing Waste Throughout Lean-Green Perspective
Managing waste has been known as a crucial need as it may reduce resource consumption, rigid regulations regarded to the environment and occupational health and safety. Lean and green management are two approaches of management that validate waste. Since performance measures are crucial to improve waste management as its goals of to promote the performance of organizations .In this research four primary KPIs have been employed that are significant to lean-green management; operational, environmental, economic and social performance factors, subdivided further into sixteen as (Value stream mapping, life cycle assessment,-etc). Also in this research determination and ranking of these performance measures and their influence on waste minimization is conducted. Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) methodology is applied to the classification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) according to the priority of their importance and the correlation between them and their impact to waste minimization. Cronbach"s Alpha coefficient is employed to assess the reliability of performance measures to minimize waste, and increase customer satisfaction. Results showed that Al-Kufa Cement plant has bad overall performance toward lean green waste management perspective. The highest individual score is for operational performance (6.6) rated as medium. But the lowest individual score is for economic performance [very bad (2.0)].
