2018, Challenges of Working with Gifted Pupils in European School Systems

Abstract: Information and communication technology (ICT) today has a huge impact on the way of life and the functioning of the world in which we live. The possibilities that ICT brings change the established attitudes towards numerous existential issues, especially impacting human development in the social, intellectual, and psycho-physical aspects. These changes are reflected in the field of education, especially in the domain that directly affects the development of competence in children and young people. The world trend in education today is also the question of the development of creativity as a component of the personality, and in this field, the question of the possibility of supporting creative development through the use of ICT in teaching has emerged. Throughout history, art teachers have applied different tools and media in the teaching process, thus moving these boundaries. Today, this same desire can be seen in the aspiration of art teachers to integrate traditional and contemporary media in their teaching in the context of didactic means. Availability, multimedia, flexibility, speed, and interchangeability of digital data are what make contemporary media necessary in the teaching of art, and the ways of using them have been changed by their development and understanding of their possibilities, which are being improved on a daily basis. ICT represents a unique opportunity to support and extend the visual arts beyond traditional art techniques. In this context, the educational domains of the application of ICT in the teaching of art, as well as the work with the talented ones, are also explored. Computers, computer peripherals, and the Internet create new aesthetic experiences, with their enormous potential as a tool for visualizing ideas and encouraging and developing the creativity of children and young people, especially in working with the talented. Key words: ICT, education, teaching of art culture, creativity, giftedness. Keywords: ICT, education, teaching art, creativity.
