Abstract

The society, which cares for children, leads to a healthy nation. But, it is noticed that more than fifty percentage of children are experiencing right violations in India. The Indian society is almost not aware about the children’s rights. Media are also not properly covering the news related to children. They cover children related news with less care. Using content analysis as a methodological tool, this paper analyse the ethical practices practiced by the leading Tamil newspapers Dailythanthi, Dinakaran, Dinamalar, The Hindu (Tamil) and Dinamani while covering children related news. This study concludes that except Dinamani the other Tamil Newspapers are having unethical way of covering children related news and this study recommends that special training should be provided to the media professionals about the ethical norms of children related news coverage.
