In the recent years, there was an increasing demand for discovering antiviral agents from medicinal plants having high activity and economically cheap. The medicinal plants have become very important because they have a main importance for determination, isolation and purification of natural chemical compounds in order to use them in many medicinal application. The scientific researches proved that plants extracts have antiviral activity against corona virus . The explanation of this activity belongs to presence of active chemical compounds act to stop the viruses in living body by multi different mechanisms. This review will provide an overview about the perspective of used some various medicinal plants against corona virus as antiviral drug and compared with antibiotics to reduce/prevent corona virus risk. An Insight Into Potential Phytopharmaceuticals for COVID-19

Novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has triggered respiratory disease outbreak worldwide and is affecting more than 200 countries. This pathogenic SARS-CoV-2 can have serious complications not only on the respiratory system but also affects the heart and nervous system. Currently, there is no specific treatment for COVID-19 and the vaccine administration isalso in their trial stages in healthcare workers. The non-specific drugs recommended for COVID-19 that have shown efficacy are Hydroxychloroquine, Remdesivir, Lopinavir, Tocilizumab, Darunavir, Chloroquine, Interferon-alpha, Favipiravir, Umifenovir, Corticosteroids, etc. However, their disadvantages are their adverse effects like fatigue, extrapyramidal disorders, vertigo, ataxia, confusion, neurosis, seizure, etc. Natural plants have shown promising antiviral and immunomodulatory effects which are now being validated on experimentalmodels. The objective of our research study is to focus on the phytopharmaceuticals that can contribute to the prevention and control of COVID-19. For achieving this target, a survey questionnaire was also designed and circulated to the community to understand the extent of the usage of herbs in management of COVID-19.

Since the last months of 2019 the whole world is facing a pandemic called COVID-19 (Novel Corona Virus). In a country like India which is densely populated, any infectious disease can spread rapidly. After disastrous first wave, we have already entered the second wave of the pandemic. As the vaccines are not such effective for new strains of the virus and also will not be available for all the people in a very short duration of time, so there should be an alternative to boost our immune system to reduce the chance of getting infected. In December 2019, a new coronavirus originating from the city of Wuhan in China started an epidemic that brought many countries into chaos and despair. SARS-CoV-2, as identified, gave rise to the severe acute respiratory syndrome called COVID-19. Its transmission happens through droplets of saliva, hand or contaminated surfaces. Since its discovery, COVID-19 has led many to death, therefore, researchers from around the world have joined efforts to develop strategies to contain the virus. In this race, drugs such as Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine have become possible options for showing an antiviral effect, however, studies contest their efficiency, generating uncertainties. has been the most devastating pandemic in human history. Despite the highest scientific efforts and investments, a reliable and certified medication has yet to be developed regarding to immune or cure this virus. However, while synthetic medications are gaining the focus of attentions, it appears from a significant number of recent studies that plant-based substances could also be potential candidates for developing effective and secure remedies against this novel disease. Citing such recent works, this review primarily demonstrates the antiviral potentials of medicinal plants for inhibiting human coronaviruses. It also shows the importance of antiviral plants substances, particularly in the development of a broad spectrum medication for coronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2 responsible for COVID-19.

The current COVID-19 pandemic is an exceptional challenge for the human population all over the world. Scientist, medical practitioners, and researchers are desperately seeking a proven cure for this disease. Moreover, when the conventional antiviral drugs such as lopinavir, ritonavir, chloroquineand hydroxychloroquine are not found as effective as expected, the screening potential active compounds from traditional herbal medicine can be a viable strategy that should be considered seriously. There are numerous promising herbal candidates under consideration for development of herbal medicine against COVID-19 virus. However, it requires more clinical trials for more insight of exploration of the biological activities of these herbal compounds or natural products which can be incorporated. Plants have always been a source of reliant phytochemicals for development of drugs against several pandemic outbreaks in the past. The longstanding knowledge of the use of plants and modern scientific evaluation of the potent constituents of these plants is a promising area of R&D to confront the menace of COVID 19 or a similar viral diseases. Apart fromtreating the viral infection, these herbs can be utilized to boost immunity without any side effects. Recent reports from different corners claimed that a sizable population have been cured from the pandemic with traditional herbal medicines without visible side effects and many of them have been used for several decades as immunity booster in humans. Pandemic coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered virus "Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2)". Considering the present scenario of COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on humankind, holistic remedies with respect to herbal medicine validated from ethnopharmacological rationale are now targeting approaches globally as a preventive care against SARS-CoV-2. Aim: This review is primarily focused on to deliver a concise fact of the coronaviridae family, pathophysiology, mechanism of action, ethnopharmacological validated Indian herbs for inhibiting the virus with possible targets. Experimental procedure: In this study, science mapping tool Bibliometrix R-package was used to perform bibliometric analysis and building data matrices for keywords co-occurrence investigation, country-wise scientific production; collaboration between the countries worldwide, co-word analysis on topic "keywords associated with SARS-CoV-2 and medicinal plants". Results and Conclusion: Our findings is to deliver a concise knowledge about the coronaviridae family, pathophysiology, possible targets for managing the SARS-CoV-2, in addition to potential medicinal plants and their phytoconstituents against COVID-19. Target-specific inflammatory pathways due to post infection of SARS e.g. NLRP3, p38-MAPK, Metallopeptidase Domain 17; endocytosis pathways e.g. Clathrin, HMGB1 pathways are primarily highlighted along with relevant interleukins and cytokines, which directly/indirectly triggering to immune system and play a significant role. Based on selective pathways and potential lead, the outcome of our elaborated study put forward selected Indian medicinal plants that hold a very high probability as preventive care in this global crisis.

Medicinal plants, because of their chemical composition, pharmacological properties, and the action of biologically active substances, can stop and relieve the symptoms of the disease. Reconsidering Traditional Medicinal Plants to Combat COVID-19

COVID-19 is a deadly disease, caused by a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that is rapidly spreading across the globe and causing many fatalities. WHO (World Health Organization) has declared this disease as pandemic. Currently the disease has no treatment available in the form of medicine or vaccine. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of medicine, been practiced in India for nearly 5000 years and relies majorly on plants for its formulations. These herbal formulations and immunity boosters may show us the path to come up with a broad-spectrum antiviral product, which is the need of the hour. In this review, we have selected plants like Phyllanthus spp., Andrographis paniculata, Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale, Glycyrrhiza glabra, and Withania somnifera with reported antiviral properties. While others like Tinospora cordifolia and Emblica officinalis that have immunity boosting properties. The exact mechanisms of action for all the plants may not be clear as per modern medicine, but their history of safe use is in place.
