Local and global stability analysis of a two prey one predator model with help
Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation, 2014
In this paper we propose and study a three dimensional continuous time dynamical system modelling a three team consists of two preys and one predator with the assumption that during predation the members of both teams of preys help each other and the rate of predation of both teams are different. In this work we establish the local asymptotic stability of various equilibrium points to understand the dynamics of the model system. Different conditions for the coexistence of equilibrium solutions are discussed. Persistence, permanence of the system and global stability of the positive interior equilibrium solution are discussed by constructing suitable Lyapunov functional. At the end, numerical simulations are performed to substantiate our analytical findings.
Complex behavior of prey-predator system exhibiting group defense: A mathematical modeling study
Defense mechanisms are very important to all animal life. Predators in every biome must eat to survive. With predators being top on the food chain and always on the lookout for a meal, prey must constantly avoid being eaten. In this paper, we have proposed and analyzed a tri-trophic predator–prey model of one prey and two predator exhibiting group defense mechanism. We have assumed Monod-Haldane functional response for interaction between species due to group defense ability of prey and middle predator. We have performed Kolmogorov and Hopf bifurcation analysis for the model system. Linear and global stability of the model system have been analyzed. Lyapunov exponents are computed numerically and 2D scan for different parameters of the model have performed to characterize the complex behavior of the model system. The numerical simulations shows the chaotic and periodic oscillations of the model system for certain range of parameter. We have drawn bifurcation diagrams for different parameter values which shows the complex dynamical behavior of model system. This work is an attempt to study the effect of group defense mechanism of prey in predator population and effect of immigration within top predator population is investigated. It is also observed that in the presence of group defense, the model system stabilizes after adding a small amount of constant immigration within top predator population.
A Dynamics Behaviour of Two Predators and One Prey Interaction with Competition Between Predators
IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
This research focuses on the dynamical of a Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with competition on predator populations. The model represents an interaction between one prey and two predator populations. The analysis shows that there are four equilibrium points, namely the extinction of predator populations point, the extinction of the first predator population point, the extinction of the second predator and the interior point. The existence of the interior equilibrium point is investigated by using Cardan criteria. Local stability analysis shows that both predator populations have never been extinct together. The second and third equilibrium point is local asymptotically stable under some conditions. Numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the stability of the interior point as well as to show that more than one equilibrium point may be asymptotically stable together for a set of parameter.
Predator–Prey Dynamical Behavior and Stability Analysis with Square Root Functional Response
International Journal of Applied and Computational Mathematics, 2016
One of the main characteristics of the ecological systems is the relationship between species and their living environment. For that reason modeling of predator-prey interactions are one of the important factors in mathematical biology. For the classical predator-prey models, the crucial components are the growth function of prey species in the absence of a predator, the mortality function of predator species in the absence of prey and the functional response function of the predator to the prey. In this paper, we consider a different predator-prey model in which the prey exhibits herd behavior so that the predator interacts with the prey along the outer corridor of the herd of the prey. The purpose of the work is to study the local stability, global stability and limit cycle of our proposed model. Some numerical simulations are carried out to support our analytical findings.
Stability analysis of coexistence of three species prey–predator model
Nonlinear Dynamics, 2015
In this paper, we have proposed a preypredator model for the study of dynamical behaviors of three species such as toxin-producing Phytoplankton, Zooplankton and Fish in a fishery system. The stability condition, existence condition of equilibrium and bifurcation have also been established. In this paper, Holling type II functional response function has been considered to analysis of the proposed model. All equilibriums of the proposed system are determined, and the behavior of the system is also investigated near the positive equilibrium point. At the end, local stability of the system is analyzed by numerical illustrations.
A mathematical model was proposed and analysed to study the dynamics of a system of a prey, primary predator and a super predator in which the predators show Holing Type II functional response to their respective prey. The study substantially provides mechanism for improving the survivability of honeybee population and to halt the negative impact of Varroa-mite infestation on honeybee population by introducing Pseudoscorpion to serve as a super predator of Varroa-mite. Also, the study significantly shows the impact of virus on honeybee infested with virus-carrying Varroa-mite. The global stability analysis and Hopf-bifurcation of the interior steady state existence of the system are studied and explored. The analytical results matched with the numerical results of the model developed.
Mathematical Model of the Dynamics of three Different Species in Predator-Prey System
2024
In studying the interrelationships of organisms and their environment, there is need to investigate science of coexistence of two or more species. To this end, it is natural to seek a mathematical formulation of this prey-predator problem and to use it to forecast the behavior of populations of various species at different times (Vahidin, et al., 2017; Ma et al., 2017). Nonlinear differential equations are utilized in the study of Lotka-Volterra prey-predator relationships (Canale, 1970). Mathematical models of the interaction between predator and prey populations are generally expressed as systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (Bai and Zhang, 2022; Canale, 1970; Xu and Wu, 2013). In animal ecosystems, interspecies interaction is inevitable (Ashine and Gebru, 2017). Interactions between various species occur on a regular basis when they live in comparable habitats. By offering havens, the natural world can offer a certain level of defense to prey populations (Ashine and Gebru, 2017). Such refugia can help in prolonging prey-predator interactions by reducing the chance of extinction due to predation (Ashine and Gebru, 2017).

This paper concerns with a predator-prey model with ratio-dependent functional response and predator harvesting. The model, which represents the growth rate of prey and predator population, is a two dimensional nonlinear dynamical system. 1402 Maya Rayungsari, Wuryansari Muharini Kusumawinahyu and Marsudi Dynamical analysis involving determination of equilibrium points and investigation on their local stabilities is presented. There are three equilibrium points, namely the prey extinction point, the predator extinction point, and coexistence point. The predator extinction point is unstable, while the prey extinction and coexistence point are stable under some certain conditions. Numerical simulations are conducted to illustrate the analytical result as well as to investigate the effects of predator harvesting to the system.
Global dynamics of a predator–prey model
Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2010
This paper deals with the dynamics of a predator-prey model with Hassell-Varley-Holling functional response. First, we show that the predator coexists with prey if and only if predator's growth ability is greater than its death rate. Second, using a blow-up technique, we prove that the origin equilibrium point is repelling and extinction of both predator and prey populations is impossible. Third, the local and global stability of the positive steady state coincide when the predator interference is large. Finally, for a typical biological case, we show instability of the positive equilibrium implies global stability of the limit cycle. Numerical simulations are carried out for a hypothetical set of parameter values to substantiate our analytical findings.
Global stability analysis on a predator-prey model with omnivores
Applied Mathematical Sciences, 2015
This paper concerns with a stability analysis of a three species predator-prey model, which describes interaction between prey, predator, and omnivore. Some parameter combinations resulting at most five equilibrium points under some sufficient conditions for their existence. It can be shown that all solutions which start from positive initial conditions are bounded. Local stability analysis of the equilibria is performed by using standard method of ODE. The analysis results can be classified into two categories of parameters. For parameters in the first category, there is no positive equilibrium and we rigorously prove that all solution trajectories converge to the boundary equilibria. We also perform some numerical simulations to support the analytical results. For parameters in the second category, we provide some numerical simulations and find that beside global stability, chaotic phenomenon is also captured.
