Biomass IGCC at Värnamo, Sweden - Past and Future (original) (raw)

This paper presents an overview on EQTEC`s biomass gasification technology, applying the proprietary EQTEC fluidised bed gasification (FBG) process. After testing a broad variety of biomass, the EQTEC FBG process is commercially used for the gasification of a mixture of biomass and various grades of municipal waste at the different facilities since 2000. The purpose of this study was to determine the conversion possibility of the agricultural based industrial wastes in to clean energy as an alternative and renewable fuel in Turkey. For this reason, intense in the country (mainly to corn, cotton and wheat), agricultural waste and forestry waste of energy as a product that will allow the assessment of plant / facilities to investigate of availibility. In this study, in order to determine the potential of renewable energy in agriculture and forestry waste for energy-producing sample will consist of a gasification plant syngas amount, calculating the cost of renewable energy potential and the system, focuses on the importance of renewable energy. Contribution to development of syngas production plants in Turkey, maintaining competitiveness, the advantages provided by aspects of reduction of environmental problems, agricultural and forestry waste of electricity and heat production from the facilities will be established for the duration of repayment of the existing conditions were found to be short. Incentives provided by law to be installed plants and other renewable energy applications with gasification will return be much shorter periods determined by the analysis. The physical properties, calorific values, proximate analysis and ultimate analysis of biomass samples were also elaborated on. In this study, also a briquetting machine was used to briquette raw biomass waste materials. After first observation of biomass characteristics with the optimum characteristics of a plant feasibility studies are discussed for the waste to energy process using biomass. Additionally, the economic analysis of different power capacity from 1 to 10 MWel using by patented EQTEC Iberia fluidised bed gasification system with combined heat and power station will be set up for energy conversion of the residues Turkey was calculated and designed. The investment will become profitable at the economic analysis results were determined included feasibility studies, sensitivity analysis, net present value, internal rate of profitability, pay-back ratio, benefit/cost ratio, internal ratio etc. The cost of electricity produced from the power station by biomass gasification was calculated as quite reasonable for invesment at this moment in Turkey.
