In fact, every human being is a leader, either for himself or for others. The nature of leadership is closely related to a leader. Leadership is a trait that can influence, move or encourage others to achieve a predetermined goal. The essence of leadership in Islam leads a servant to true servitude to Allah. In Islam, a leader must be an example for his group, such as the Prophet Muhammad saw. The personality of the Prophet Muhammad saw. as a leader is exemplary because of his toughness which is not affected by the circumstances of the surrounding community which are still ignorant. This study is basic research, which aims to reconstruct the leadership in the Islamic perspective. The problems that arise are the leader has lost its way so it no longer trustworthy, leadership as exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. Leadership theories more adopting the ways of the capitalist, in running the organization, even to Islamic organizations. So that the necessary research to reconstruct the theory of leadership in accordance with the Islamic sharia. The approach used in this research is explorative to dig deeper into the theories to solve the problems. Data collected by literature studies, by digging the leadership of the Prophet and the Qur'an and hadith. The characteristics of leadership in Islam is the Islamic perspective , faithful and devoted to Allah, ihsan and noble character, honesty, giving a good example, knowledgeable, trustworthy, fulfilling the promise, justice, humanity, discipline, leaving the useless, do not get angry / patient, has a shy nature, istiqomah, have sciences/ knowledge, commanding the good and forbidding unjust, deliberation, humble / modest. Abstrak Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dasar, yang bertujuan merekonstruksi kepemimpinan dalam perspektif Islam. Permasalahan yang mengemuka adalah pemimpin telah kehilangan arah sehingga tidak lagi amanah, sebagaimana kepemimpinan yang diteladankan oleh Rasulullah SAW. Teori-teori kepemimpinan lebih banyak mengadopsi cara-cara kapitalis dalam menjalankan organisasi, bahkan untuk organisasi Islam. Sehingga diperlukan penelitian untuk merekonstruksi teori kepemimpinan yang sesuai dengan syariah Islam. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksploratif untuk menggali lebih dalam tentang teori-teori untuk memecahkan permasalahan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi literature, dengan menggali kepemimpinan Rasulullah dan dari Al Qur'an dan hadits. Adapun karakteristik kepemimpinan dalam perspektif Islam adalah Islam, beriman dan bertaqwa kepada Allah SWT, ihsan dan akhlak mulia, kejujuran, memberi teladan yang baik, berilmu, amanah, memenuhi janji, keadilan, kemanusiaan, disiplin, meninggalkan yang tidak bermanfaat, jangan (tidak) marah/ bersabar, memiliki sifat malu, istiqomah, menjaga lisan, amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar, bermusyawarah, rendah hati/ sederhana.
Islamic Perspective of the Followers: A Neglected Aspect in Locus of Leadership

The field of leadership consists of three main parts- leader, follower(s) and situation. Numerous researches had been conducted on the leader in different capacities. The qualities or characteristics, virtues, styles, and types of the leader or leadership had been dealt with extensively. However, little if there are any tangible researches are known about the followers. Therefore this paper aims at looking into the follower as a locus of leadership from Islamic perspective. A leader cannot be emerged without followers and situation. The researchers engaged the qualitative research methodology in conducting this work. In other words, content analysis is directed to the secondary data collected through the library. The finding shows that a good leader should first be a good follower. Kubang Pasu, Kedah Darul Aman. There were three leadership traits investigated in this research; leaders' personality, religiosity, and motivation to lead or MTL. Moreover, imams' educational background as well as managerial and past leadership experiences were also investigated as predictors for their leadership behaviors. A structured, Malay version-self-administered questionnaire was distributed to 30 imams in the district of Kubang Pasu, Kedah Darul Aman. In the regression analysis, the traits of imams tested explained 56.2% variance of leadership behavior. Specifically, results demonstrated leadership behavior could be potentially influenced highly by personality-extraversion and affective-identity MTL. Moreover, this research found that personality-conscientiousness also tends to influence leadership behavior. The same was also found for personality-neuroticism and social-normative MTL. However, the two predictors showed negative influence toward leadership behavior.

In this life, you need a leader to lead, guide and manage life because a leader is considered someone who can do these things. Leadership is a classic topic of discussion, but it is still very interesting to study because it determines the continuity of an organization. Leadership is essentially accountability, so a leader must understand the concepts and theories of leadership itself. From this, the purpose of this article research is to understand the concepts and theories of leadership. The type of research used is library research. The data collection technique uses documentation, which is a way to obtain data and information in the form of books and journal documents that can support research. The results of this research study show that the concept of leadership in Islam is identical to the term khalifa which means representative. Besides the caliph is also called Ulil Amri, which means the highest leader in Islamic society. In Islam, a person who becomes a leader must meet six requirements, namely: having strength, trustworthiness, the conscientiousness of conscience, being professional, not taking opportunities, and placing the most suitable and appropriate person. Thus, according to Islam, the ideal leader is fair, trustworthy, fathonah, shiddiq, qona'ah, siyasah, and patient. To be a leader, of course, it is not easy; there must be concepts and theories of leadership that are understood to be able to carry out their duties and have an impact on the surrounding environment. Therefore, it is important to understand the concepts and theories of leadership in life to be able to become a responsible leader and protect its members.

This paper aims to discuss and analyze the concept of development of Islamic personality and spirituality. Nowadays, the morality issues are increasing in the society. The unpredictable personality and spirituality of human beings have called for various social illnesses as reported in the previous study of Yusoff, Othman, Abdullah, Omar, N. and Omar (2018), Tunggak, Ngadi and Naim , Ahmad, Don, Abdullah, Ibrahim and Hussain (2014), Kadir, Paad and Ghapar (2013) and others. This study however focuses on the concept of development of Islamic personality and spirituality from the Islamic scholars for instance al-Ghazali, Hawwa, Raiya and others which analysed to present the full explanation of the concept. The study employs qualitative research method -the data of the study is gathered from both hard and online materials, and analysed through typical qualitative analysis method: inductive and deductive.

The Basis of Leadership in Islam

This article discusses the basis of leadership in Islam as applied by the Prophet (pbuh) in managing affairs according to Islamic teachings. The purpose of this article is to analyse current Islamic leadership. The effectiveness of ledaership during the Meccan period is considered the early stage in the formation of Islamic leadership. The Muslim ummah needs to make the Prophet (pbuh) as a role model for the responsibility of implementing more efficient management of Islamic affairs based on al-Quran and al-Sunnah. In order to fulfill the criteria of the best leadership, a leader has to satisfy the prerequisites of having a sound physique and being spiritually steadfast with a strong belief and faith in Allah swt as well as practising all the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) in leading the ummah, while being virtuous in conduct, knowledgeable, sharp-witted and morally firm, for the sake of building a dynamic Islamic society.
Prophetic Leadership: Examining The Prophetic Leadership Concept of The Prophet Muhammad SAW

In the study of Islamic Education Management (MPI), it is necessary to develop a theory or concept of leadership based on Islamic values, one of which is the concept of prophetic leadership. This study aims to analyze how the prophetic leadership concept of the Prophet Muhammad SAW can be applied in organizations. This research was conducted qualitatively with a literature review. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which consisted of three activities: data analysis, data reduction, and verification. The study results explain that the concept of prophetic leadership is leadership based on prophetic (apostolic) values. The prophetic leadership character of the Prophet Muhammad is known by four characters, namely Fatanah, Amanah, Sidiq, and Tabligh. Apart from these four characters, The Prophet Muhammad SAW is also known as a prophet whom Allah SWT sent to be a mercy for the universe. The implication of the Prophet Muhammad's Prophetic Leadership is that each of his followers is encouraged to imitate these characters and apply them in their daily lives.

Leader is that person who is followed by other persons and not following other persons. Leader inspires other persons and makes more leaders rather than making followers and he is enthusiastic about future and leads a group towards successful and prosperous future. Islamic Law is revelation of Almighty Allah revealed on the last Prophet Muhammad for betterment of human beings in both worlds. Islamic Law is a complete code of life provides guidelines required to be followed in all aspects of life to achieve success. Prophet Muhammad led a group later conquered more than half world by following teachings of Almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad. The vision of a leader is comprised of (i) Motive, (ii) Intention, and (iii) Object. Motive is an idea developed by leader, intention is an action upon motive and object is the reason of struggle. Some leadership qualities include (i) Truthfulness, (ii) Trustworthiness, (iii) Justice, (iv) Knowledge, (iv) Fearlessness, (v) Calmness, and (vi) Selflessness. This study is a qualitative method of research point out and describe qualities of a leader under verses of Holy Book Quran and authentic traditions of Prophet Muhammad. Almighty Allah says “O’ believers! Fully enter in Islam and do not follow footsteps of an evil, indeed he is your true enemy”. Prophet Muhammad said “Muslim can do other sins but he cannot tell a lie”. Similarly, a Muslim cannot defraud his followers otherwise he cannot be considered a good leader. Knowledgeable and powerful person is given more importance under Islam Law over a lay man and a weak person and he who accepts Islam and believes in (i) Almighty Allah, (ii) His angels, (iii) His books including Holy Quran (iv) His messengers including Prophet Muhammad, (v) day of judgment, (vi) good-bad fate, and (vii) resurrection after death has no fear of future and he is not sad on his past. It is therefore recommended that youngsters are required to follow teachings prescribed in Holy Quran and authentic traditions of Prophet Muhammad for benefits in this world as well as in hereafter.
