ENGLISH: Nowadays, the discussion about textual analysis especially social representation in the media either printed or online media is apparently moved to the surface as a priority subject for investigating linguistic inquiry. It is caused by textual analysis is not only represented upon the text it self, but also the context such as social representation. The chosen texts or clauses are able to portray the journalist characteristic as a results. The text which is displayed will be the mirror of the readers construction. Riots in Moluccas were one of the biggest conflicts in Indonesia that occurred in 2000-2002, no wonder the incident was a concern of many parties, especially the mass media. This study analyzes and investigates several online news launched by 3 mass media (CNN Indonesia, Detik, and Tirto) related to PB Djarum vs KPAI Polemic in September 2019, using Van Dijk’s discourse analysis. It aims was to explore how different each article used its standpoints in reporting the issue, by looking at Text, Social Cognition, and Context dimensions. In text dimensions, it examines how the articles constructed through micro structure, super structure, and macro structure. Moreover, it is also trying to look beyond the written text, while analyzing in social cognition and context dimensions. This study concludes that the media, in this case the online news media, can be a powerful channel to influence readers through its construction of the polemic issue. A CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLOOD FEUD MURDER NEWS BY CUMHURİYET, HÜRRİYET, POSTA AND YENİ ŞAFAK NEWSPAPERS

This article explores blood feud, which still appears to trouble Turkey by carrying out a critical discourse analysis of the news stories about a blood feud-related murder committed in Batman, Turkey. The analysis of the reports of the incident in Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Posta and Yeni Şafak newspapers shows that the murder was presented through a narrative. The critical discourse analysis done with the help of linguistic concepts indicates an ideology production in the newspapers' discourse. Such analyses might add to the solution of the blood feud problem in Turkey, as well as making a clear contribution to the development of critical discourse analysis. This kind of analysis can be considered as an attempt to contribute solving the blood feud murder problem as well as development of the critical discourse analysis.

This study aims to describe the discourse fight campaign of Indonesia President election in 2014 and the impact of the mass media as the public column. The unit analysis of the study is the campaign news headline of Indonesia President election in 2014 of Seputar Indonesia and Media Indonesia newspapers. Van Dijk discourse analysis model was applied in the study. The research result showed that in the construction process, when the news goes to reductor level which had been done by the juornalists was always changed and suit to the character and media policy including the policy of the tittle statement and the language used. The newspapers have become different and provocative. So, in the discourse fight in Indonesia President ellection in 2014, there were representations to the candidates which was done by both of the mass media, and then went to the actors' charater assassination and the distortion of the public column become not authentic. This was because of the mass media in their news had taken sides the candidate who is being the prominent figure.

Critical Discourse Analysis on KOMPAS.COM News: 'Gerakan #2019GANTIPRESIDEN

This article is a result of critical discourse analysis (CDA) to the news entitled Gerakan #2019GantiPresiden di Antara Ambiguitas Hukum dan Syahwat Politik at Kompas.com. The approach employed in this research is the three-dimensional CDA developed by Norman Fairclough. The purposes of this research are to describe the micro, mezzo, and macro as well as the social, political and cultural situation from the linguistic aspects in Gerakan #2019GantiPresiden di Antara Ambiguitas Hukum dan Syahwat Politik text. The results show that there are linguistic aspects in the form of diction in the direct sentences that are used by Kompas.com with the theme #2019GantiPresiden. This movement is considered as a constitutional movement indicated as a rebellion because it is supported by political interests towards their current government rival. This is closely related to the background of Kompas.com as a pro-government online mass media. It is also acceptable if Kompas.com creates a positive image of the current government. The main point of information that is conveyed in the news of #2019GantiPresiden is that this movement possibly threats the government of Jokowi Widodo who will run again for the presidential election in 2019.

Representing Victim of Violence in News: Female Victim of Ugm’s Case in the Jakarta Post’s Articles

This study investigates the existence of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in one of Indonesia English language newspaper The Jakarta Post. This research aims to reveal the existence of this GBV practice in five selected articles under the case of sexual assault happened to Agni, one of UGM students. This research uses qualitative research where there are 131 clauses selected to be analyzed. The analysis uses the Critical Discourse Analysis Fairclough’s model (1989) as a framework, involving Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) (2004), Wood’s gendered media (1994), and mass media discourse. The result shows that gender-based violence practice does exist on those selected articles through the use of linguistic tools applied by the journalists. This indication related to three things. This study explores attitude as a language appraisal strategy employed by Indonesia’s newspapers in reporting news on attacking incidents. The study aims, firstly, to reveal the types of attitude system employed by Indonesia’s local media in news of attacking incidents and, secondly, to investigate the potential meanings that can be inferred from the attitude system. This study follows interpretative−descriptive approach to data collection and analysis. The data were taken from Pikiran Rakyat and The Jakarta Post to give an equal representation of Indonesia’s newspapers and analyzed with reference to Martin and White’s (2005) Appraisal System focusing on attitude sub-system. This study aims to analyze the portrayal of women through the subject-object position and the position of the reader. This study applied a qualitative method with the Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach developed by Sara Mills. The result of this study indicates that through the subject-object position, VICE Indonesia illustrates women as parties who are often marginalized in polygamy. Additionally, women are considered economically helpless figures and only depend on men. Women are also considered as sources of defamation and sin for men. Polygamy becomes one of psychological violence that is often ignored by women because of the promise of heaven. Hence, an understanding of gender equality in a family is really necessary. Women must get educated as high as possible and have a better knowledge of religion. Meanwhile, according to the viewpoint of the readers, VICE Indonesia generally wants to make the readers as if they appear as women. Whereas, through direct greeting, there are two ways, namely mediation and cultural codes.
