Analysis of the Implementation of Character Education at Junior High School in Sumbawa Besar Regency

Education is the most important aspect in a person's life. Through education, a person can be seen as respectable, have a good career and can behave according to the norms. Besides that, education also has a very important role. With high education, a person can have a good job, live a good life and improve his social status. Higher education will able to change a person's behavior and character to be better. This study aims to determine the implementation of character education at Sumbawa Besar Regency. The approach used in this research was qualitative research, since it was focusing on the understanding of social phenomena from the perspective of the participants. Data collection techniques used in the study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis techniques in this study are data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusion or verification. In order to obtain the validity of the data so that will obtain the valid findings, it is necessary to examine its reliability by using technical triangulation and source triangulation. The results of this study are that planning for character education in Sumbawa has been arranged by the principal and then the teacher is instructed to make a syllabus and lesson plans to insert those values in the learning process. The implementation of character education in teacher learning activities inserts some character values in the learning process. Furthermore, the most common characters that implemented in learning processes are religious, honesty, discipline, responsibility, and hard work.

The Implementation of Character Education in the Civics Education Syllabus at SMA Negeri 1 Sleman

Students ' behaviour lately is becoming more concerned with being far from virtue values, needing to improve students ' character to be better. This research aims to know: 1) The values of the character in the syllabus, 2) Implementation of character education in the PKn-bus, and 3) supporting factors and inhibiting the implementation of character education in PKn syllabus in SMA Negeri 1 Sleman. This research uses qualitative methods. Data retrieval is done with observation and interviews. PKn teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Sleman implements character education in PKn syllabus in the sidelines of the subject matter, provide for example, and habituation. The implementation of character education in syllabus is quite effective in forming students ' character, indicated by good student behavior during school. The contributing factor to the implementation of character education in syllabus is the teacher's cooperation in character education, support of the headmaster by providing literature, direction and coaching, as well as the instruction of 18 character values that must be applied. The factor is that when there is solid material, the teacher sometimes forgot and did not get to instill the character values related to the material. Teachers need to plan learning better, so that the subject matter can be completed and character planting is also possible.

Character Education from the Students’, Teachers’, and Schools’ Perspective

In 2016, the Indonesian Government emphasized character education by sparking a Character Strengthening Program or Program Penguatan Karakter/PPK to build and strengthen the students’ character. This program focuses on character building but it mainly highlights five main good characters which are religiosity, nationalism, integrity, independence, and cooperation. The Character Educators of Future: What Do They Know? What Do They Need?

Providing the wholistic development of individual in terms of personal and psychological characteristics guiding our actions with educational processes forms "the character education". Teachers as an important figure in this process should be aware of character education and what they are responsible for. To achieve this, teacher education should include the essentials of character education and prepare teachers for their inevitable role within their professional life. This study aimed to reveal what the preservice primary school teachers know about character education and what their needs through their education for becoming a character educator are. The participants were preservice teachers from primary school education department in Cukurova University. The data was collected with an open ended quesitonnaire and analyzed using content analysis. According to findings, it is obvious that preservice teachers are mostly aware of the importance and content of character education and they see what their future roles are. They came up with many recommendations for teachers and teacher education. This study is thought to be beneficial in terms of revealing the situation within preservice teachers regarding character education awareness and also helping teacher educators to see what preservice teachers need to be efficient character educators.

The Development of Assessment Instrument for the Character Education at the State University of Medan

The aim or this study was to develop a set of instruments to asses.~ the character education in the learning process at the State University of Medan. The study adopted the research and development method by following the principles of instrument development synthesized from instrument development experts. The developed instruments include assessment of the six pillars of character, namely trustworthiness, fairness, caring, respect, citizenship, and responsibility. To assess the instruments developed, qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out. Qualitative analysis is carried out with the assessment of experts and practitioners which shows that the instruments developed have good content validity in the range of 0.67 to 0.97. Implementation and Development Models of Character Education in School

Character education has become an educational policy in Indonesia. It aims to prepare a generation of nations who are superior, advanced, and competitive in the global arena. However, the implementation and development models in schools are different. Each school has a program, strategy, and method for implementing it. This study aims to determine the implementation and development so that the model can be found in schools. The hope is that it will become a means of replication, modification, dissemination, and innovation by other schools. The research was conducted with field research at junior high schools in the city of Samarinda, East Kalimantan with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques by observation, interviews, Focus Group Discussion, and documentation. Analysis with critical analysis and content analysis. The results showed: 1) schools have awareness of the importance of character education; 2) there are 5 implementation models in schools, namely integration through curricular, co-curricular, self-development / extra-curricular programs; routine habituation and integration of thematic interconnections between curricular and co-curricular programs; 3) each school has different models in terms of management policies, program quality, priority character values, and implementation strategies.

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of character education in schools. It is said that character education is not new, scientific studies on its effectiveness have only been applied sporadically for the last thirty-five years. Therefore, most of the application of character education is not motivated by a scientific basis. This article introduces a scientific perspective on character education and summarizes the basic research examining the student impact of school-based character education. This article uses the literature study method. Sources from previous articles related to the purpose of this study. There are 5 sources of journal articles that are used as literature reviews. Research results explaining the relationship between character education and academic achievement should include greater representation of schools in the average and below average achievement categories. In particular analysis, a study of the extent to which character education is implemented in schools that may have test scores under the spectrum, but never less than expected by their socioeconomic characteristics, would be an important contribution to our understanding of the relationship between character education and academic achievement. Researchers recommend the need for more in-depth research on character education in early childhood education, before entering elementary school so that moral values are instilled from an early age. The Indonesian nation intends the formation of a nation's next generation that is morally upright and intellectually intelligent. Numerous examples of pupils who are educated yet lack moral character, and hence cannot be expected to be the nation's future builders. This requires stakeholders to take strategic steps in regulating the education system in Indonesia. As one of the proclaimed character education programs, this program is expected to reintroduce hope for the future of Indonesian education by instilling good values ​​among all involved and as school residents, enabling them to have knowledge, awareness, and action in carrying out character values. As a matter of fact, the concept of good character education will fail if teachers who educate and teach in schools are unable to serve as positive role models for students'
