Background: Natural farming (NF) is a farming system that uses environmentally friendly pest and disease management practices. In contrast to chemical farming, it avoids use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and fungicides and hence, offers an alternative way for the eco-friendly pest management for the sustainable crop production. French bean crop is ravaged by wide array of insect pests wherein, sucking insect-pests like aphids, leaf miner and pod borer causing considerable damage. To manage these pests, farmers are spraying both recommended and non-recommended synthetic chemical pesticides having adverse effects on environment and human beings. An approach to eatablish IPM program for some sucking pests infesting garden beans plants was carried out in two successive seasons of 2004 and 2005 under field conditions in Alexandria, Egypt. The sucking pests included the aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch (Homoptera: Aphididae), the white fly, Bemisia tabaci Genn. (Homoptera: Aleyroidae) and the spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch Pymetrozine, thiamethoxam, carbosulfan, abamectin, azadirachtin and the detergent (Masrol 410) were tested for their efficacy in this study. Thiamethoxam, carbosulfan, and pymetrozine proved to be highly effective against Aphis craccivora Koch, while abamectin, azadirachtin, and the detergent (Masrol 410) provided a moderate effect. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of some insecticides and biopesticides against aphid Aphis craccivora (Koch), leafhopper Empoasca fabae (Harris) and whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) on Indian bean during kharif, 2019 at the SKN College of Agriculture, Jobner, Jaipur. On the basis of reduction in incidence, spiromesifen 22.9SC, diafenthiuron 50WP and standard check (alternate spray of dimethoate 30EC and malathion 50 EC) were observed to be the most effective. The pyriproxyfen 10.8EC, emamectin benzoate 5SG, chlorfenapyr 10SC and spinosad 45SC were moderately effective; whereas, the Beauveria bassiana 1.15WP, Metarhizium anisopliae 1.15WP, azadirachtin 0.03EC and NSKE (5.0%) were the least effective. The maximum pod yield of 91.25 q/ ha was obtained with spiromesifen 22.9SC at par with that of diafenthiuron 50WP (88.32 q/ ha). An experiment has been conducted to know the efficiency of some promising pyrethroids and bio-rational insecticides for controlling the major sucking pests of country beans under field conditions during the winter season September 2020 – March 2021. The different treatments were Cypermethrin 10 EC (T1), Lambda-Cyhalothrin 2.5 EC (T2), Emamectin benzoate 5 SG (T3), Abamectin 1.8 EC (T4), Spinosad 45 SC (T5), and untreated control (T6). The rate of leaf infestation at the lower, middle, and top stages of country bean ranged from 8.82–17.78, 13.89–36.39, and 13.72–33.33% in T5treated and untreated control plots, respectively. The present experimental study was conducted under laboratory conditions in the department of Entomology, School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus during 2017 to 2018. For bioassay on the toxicity of plant extract on Aphids (Aphis craccivora Koch) in French beans, five botanicals were used namely, Neem (Azadirachta indica), Datura (Datura stramonium), Lantana (Lantana camara), Nigeria Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globules) and Citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) with one chemical i.e. Dimethoate 30 EC and control. The laboratory bioassay was done using dipping method and the LC 50 values were calculated using Probit analysis. The results from the Probit analysis at 24, 48 and 72 hours showed that the standard check Dimethoate 30 EC was the most toxic @ 0.01%. Efficacy of IPM Modules Against Major Insect Pests of Common Bean Phaseolus vulgaris

This experiment evaluated some IPM modules against pests of common bean Phaseolus vulgaris, and observed that the module with soil application of carbofuran 3G @ 32.5 kg/ ha+1st of spray with dimethoate 30EC @ 0.03% (45 days after sowing- DAS) and 2nd with dichlorvos 76SC @ 0.076% (70 DAS) was the most effective. This resulted in maximum reduction of pests (76.85, 75.43, 69.97% of aphid, whitefly and weevil, respectively) and resulted in maximum gross returns (`₹94,068), net returns (``₹64,017) and benefit cost ratio (2.13). Besides, these effect of intercropping of beans with maize revealed a reduced population density of all the major pests, as compared to sole bean crop.
QUALITY AND SAFE BEAN PRODUCTION USING BOTANICALS IN CONTROLLING BLACK BEAN APHID

A good and green technology conceptual study was conducted in Bangladesh Agricultural University campus farming area as well as field laboratory during 2015-2016. The study incorporated country bean as test crop, on which five botanicals namely jute seed, arahar leaves, nisanda, lantana and kalomegh were tested to know the effectiveness in controlling black bean aphid. The adult mortality test performed in field laboratory. The botanicals linked field crop study included control ones. The black bean was reared under laboratory condition. In the laboratory different doses of botanicals along of control were tested, but in field only best treatment (10% doses) were accompanied. The laboratory experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications. On the other hand in case of field experiment Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was followed with also three no. of replications. The study revealed that based on the performances (ensured insect mortality) the botanicals ranked as jute seed, kalomegh, lantana, nisanda and arahar leaves in decreasing order, where jute seed kept the cent percent efficiency. The other botanicals ensured near about 50% or above mortality of black bean aphid, respectively. The study also detected the highest % mortality in 10%, as increasement of mortality with concentrated formulation and advancement of treatment duration. It is also dominant that jute seed showed the 1 st highest plant height (307.21 cm), no. of twigs/plant (11.01 no.) and no. of leaves/plant (16.50 no.), total no. of pod (212.37 no.), pod length (12.73) and pod yield (1.73 kg/plant). Numerically, kalomegh, lantana, nisanda and arahar leaves ranked in the 2 nd , 3 rd , 4 th and 5 th positions. Control treatment gave the worst performance.
