INTRODUCTION TO SPECIAL ISSUE: PAPERS FROM THE SESSION ON MARITIME ARCHAEOLOGY AT THE INDO-PACIFIC PREHISTORIC ASSOCIATION 2014 CONFERENCE (original) (raw)
In January 2014, another session on maritime archaeology was organised for the 20th IPPA Congress in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This time, maritime archaeologists working on Southeast Asia presented their work in front of an audience composed mainly of land archaeologists. Six Southeast Asian countries were represented in the session, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines. This special issue of the Journal of Indo-Pacific Archaeology (JIPA) gathers some of the papers presented during the conference and provides a unique view into the current state of maritime archaeology in Southeast Asia.
