STUDENTS' OPINIONS REGARDING STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT COURSE INSTRUCTION IN THE GRADUATE PROGRAMS AND THEIR LEVEL OF BRINGING QUALIFIED EMPLOYEE IN BUSINESS: A STUDY AT GAZI UNIVERSITY

At the point of monitoring developments taking place in the internal and external environmental conditions of the businesses, gaining the necessary skills is critical. To gain these skills, conscious and visionary individuals are trained in strategic management course in the universities at the associate degree, undergraduate, graduate and doctor's degree. In this study, students' opinions regarding the level of strategic management course's benefits on business with qualified employee were given. To serve this purpose, a research was conducted with students taking a strategic management course at master's and doctoral level in 2015-2016 fall term at the Institute of Social Sciences at Gazi University. With a parametric method analysis, an independent Sample T-Test for comparison was performed on the data obtained. As a result of the study, it was observed that students educated in master's and doctoral level expressed their opinions concerning the strategic management course as an important tool to function in providing qualified employee to business in the middle level. As a result of analysis, it was observed that gaining qualified employee to business in a strategic management course is the level of 3, 32 in graduate students and 2, 63 in doctoral students.

The Relationship between Strategic Thinking and Strategic Management Practices in Higher Education Institutions in Yemen

In today's environment rapid changes and technological explosion, almost all the management writers' emphasis on the need of updated and sophisticated techniques to outperform others or at least to survive. Strategic management and strategic thinking are among those valuable tools if not the most important. Despite this importance, most of the studies did not have the relationship between these two concepts evidently. This research is attempted to address the relationship between strategic management and strategic thinking variables and furthermore, their availability and level in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Yemen. To study the relationship between strategic management and strategic thinking, a quantitative descriptive approach was used using questionnaire tool. The questionnaire consist of two parts, the first part, measured the availability and level of strategic management, the second part measured the level of strategic thinking. The questionnaire has been distributed to the institutions' top management (Rectors and their Vices, Deans and their Vices, and Head of Departments). It has been found that the relationship between the two variables was a weak positive relationship in HEIs. The level of strategic management was average, and the level of strategic thinking was good. The study also found that there is a significant difference between public and private universities in the relationship, availability, and level of strategic management and strategic thinking.

STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF LEARNING SCHOOL ON PROMOTION OF MANAGERS’ COMPETENCE

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the use of learning school on the improvement of competency criteria of managers in Bank Saderat Iran and determine the effect of each criterion of the mentioned school. By using Morgan table, assuming the unlimited population size, 384 individuals were randomly selected from among them. After selecting six core competencies of managers, the data were collected through questionnaire containing 47 questions and were distributed among employees. After confirmation of the validity of the questionnaire with SPSS using Spearman's test, the significant correlation of all criteria except personality traits and implementation of learning school was established, and finally using Topsis method, the criteria were ranked respectively: public credit, professional credit (inversely proportional), attitude, knowledge, capability and personality traits (directly proportional) were ranked. The results of this study can be used in decision making for the selection, appointment and improvement of qualified managers in the country for senior managers of economic organizations.

Factors influencing strategic thinking Among Master of Business Administration graduates in Kenya: A survey of University Campuses in Nairobi Central Business District

Master of Business Administration (MBA) has recently gained popularity as a degree program in Kenya, with most of its students and graduates gaining different strategic skills and knowledge as a result. The continued industrial growth and technological advancement has paused a challenge in the management of many organizations calling for need for strategic thinking approaches to address these issues. The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing strategic thinking among MBA graduates from Kenyan Universities in Nairobi County. The specific objectives were; to find out the influence of personal attributes, education background , structural characteristics and industrial environment on strategic thinking among MBA graduates from Kenyan Universities. Descriptive survey was employed on a sample size of 54 respondents obtained using snowball sampling method was used. The findings revealed that both personal characteristics (β =-.176, p ˃ 0.05) and education background (beta =-.071, p ˃ 0.05) constructs did not significantly influence strategic thinking capabilities of the MBA graduates. However, structural characteristics (β = 0. 556, p < 0.05) and industrial environment (β = 0.365, p < 0.05) significantly influenced strategic thinking levels among the MBA graduates with structural characteristics having stronger influence. Additionally, it was established that the multiple linear regression model developed for the study could explain approximately 37.9 % of the variations on strategic thinking among MBA graduates from Kenyan universities campuses located in Nairobi County. The study, therefore, recommends that the management of the universities invest in more resources that can make their programs more oriented to strategic thinking. The study also recommends that the universities lecturers should find more ways of enriching the MBA programs by giving the students more assignments that would encourage strategic thinking. It is also recommended that graduates take up assignments in structure design and reorganization especially at small scale level so as to further develop their strategic thinking capabilities.

Comparative Study of Strategic Management Schools (Prescriptive, Descriptive and Integrated)

This article seeks to compare the schools of strategic management in three paradigms, especially descriptive and descriptive schools, and considers the integrated schools of strategic management as a combination of the other two types of schools. In this article, to achieve this goal, we first try to explain the concepts of strategic management, model, theory, approach, school and paradigm and schools of strategic management. Then, using the qualitative comparative research method and the type of close comparison, the researcher came to the conclusion that the schools of strategic management are not incomplete. They are complementary and it is necessary to use each of them in organizations. Then, we will compare the relationship between these concepts, especially the concepts of strategic management and strategic planning, with schools of learning and planning, and finally we will find out. The prescriptive and descriptive schools are complementary and supportive according to the integrated schools.

Developing propositions for empirical testing of the schools of strategic management; pattern and remarks

Strategic Management research. Firstly, it is about the differences of the philosophical approach between realism and constructivism as the two most employed approaches in the development of Strategic Management. Apart from the development of topics, there was a very moderate research of the development of the fi eld itself and the foundations for its development. There had been just several discussions of the philosophical foundations of strategy. Secondly, it is about the extensive historical overview of the research on the process of strategic management. The authors have developed a pattern of existing schools of strategic management in the three groupings. Thirdly, it scales down the level of research from the macro level down to the individual level-the top manager. Fourthly, it suggests the bridge between the theoretical concepts of schools of strategic management and the empirical testing in order to prove its relevance and practical use for top manager in everyday lives. The paper proposes a new classifi cation of the schools of strategic management. The further research should be directed toward elaborating propositions into hypothesis and following the suggestions and remarks when performing empirical testing on four suggested schools of strategic management.

The Effects of Strategic Management Practices on the Performance of the Universities in Turkey

In the present study strategic management practices of the universities in Turkey were investigated and the effects of these practices on the performance of the universities were analyzed. The research investigated whether strategic management processes were implemented in universities in Turkey or to what extent they were implemented and the effects of these processes on the performance of the universities tested by means of a model which was developed. Concrete suggestions were made depending on the results. In the study, it was concluded that the universities operating in our country did not closely follow the changes and developments mainly about higher education in Turkey and in the world and that they did not pay enough attention to the competitive conditions and use strategic management practice adequately.

The Perception of Management Students Towards Management Education Programme in the Faculty of Business Studies Educational, College of Technology Education, Ghana

The study examined the perception of Management Students towards Management Educational Programme (MEP) in the Faculty of Business Studies Education, College of Technology Education, University of Education, Winneba. The study adopted the quantitative research approach through the multi-stage sampling technique to sample 300 management students from the College of Technology Education. Data was analyzed through the use descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, regression and rank order analysis. The result showed overall positive perception of students towards the educational management programme as each indicator was significant (PUM: p < 0.05). On individual cases, the average values showed that “MEP” has enhanced my leadership qualities” was the most positively perceived statement for respondents. The result indicated a strong positive correlation between Perceived Usefulness of Management Programme and learning outcome/performance (.853, p< 0.001; .850, p < 0.05). Fu...
