Reflection Paper on Renato Constantino's "The Philippines: A Past revisited" (Chapter 4 to Chapter 12) (original) (raw)
We live in a world formed by past periods of colonialism and other historical events, and that defines our history, a word that describes both our past and present. It has always been emphasized in school how important it is to study our own history, since it provides us with knowledge and understanding of the culture in which we live. The Filipino historian Renato Constantino has created another masterpiece. He authored a book that will cause you to question yourself, others, and the world around you. The title of the book was "The Philippines: A Past Revisited," implying that our past is revisited. It reveals the horrors of Spanish colonization, the lesser-known revolutions, the rivalry between Bonifacio and Aguinaldo, and the original American designs.
