Conceptual Approaches Regarding The Company Logistics
Polish Journal of Management …, 2010
Abstract. The approach of a new domain of company's management, the logistical one, imposes the knowledge of own aims and methods of study. But, in order to facilitate the implementation, its main components must be prevalently set forth. Impelled by the ...
A role, significance and approaches for studying logistics
Vojnotehnički Glasnik, 2020
Introduction/purpose:The paper presents the development of logistics as a specific field of military branch, a contemporary field of business and a scientific discipline which inspires many researchers, theorists and practitioners to approach logistical problems from various aspects. The essence of logistics is an integrated approach to all its constituent activities, which reduces costs and increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the logistics system in supporting the primary activities of an organization or a technical system. Due to intensive and multidimensional development of logistics and its applications in various fields, the need for highly educated logistics personnel with specialized knowledge for performing a wide range of activities in the logistics system is becoming increasingly necessary. Methods: Based on the description of military, business, national and humanitarian logistics and a comparative analysis, their mutual relationship is shown. Results: Based on the performed analysis, an explanation of the importance of studying logistics as a multidisciplinary science and pointing out the need for specific training of logistics personnel was given. Conclusion: Logistics is intensively developing in various fields depending on the goals of the system (organizational and technical) it supports. In general, commercial logistics is evolving faster than military logistics, and many innovative commercial logistics solutions are being deployed in 80
Tasks and Aspects of Modern Logistics
Consumers and companies need products, material and other physical objects at a time when and a place where they are generally not produced. This leads to the 4R-task of operative logistics:
Logistics in Production Processes
Journal of Machine Engineering, 2013
Integration of production planning and logistics is currently becoming more and more widespread in many companies. The role and tasks of production logistics in a company are dependent on many factors as well as on an appropriate definition of logistics. The development of the concept of the supply chain has resulted in a broader view of logistics. The primary goal of production logistics can be formulated as expansion of the capabilities for the implementation and reliability of deliveries with the lowest logistical and production costs. In such an approach production systems are those in which input quantities are temporally and spatially transformed into products. With logistical supply networks at the input and distribution networks at the output of the system, production and logistics are closely linked. The approach proposed within the framework of Lean enterprises is interesting. It requires first defining a stream of values, then mapping and improving it. The methods appeari...
Location and Importance of Logistics in the Company’s Organisational Structure
Taking into account the commercial evolutions, the three components (dimensions) of operational management may be emphasised, which support logistics, such as: management of flows necessary for responding to the intensification of the commercial exchanges; management of the interfaces used for responding to issues occurred and formation of the networks; management of sustaining the product, having as aim the improvement of the service at the client. The involvement of logistics leads to satisfying the client and reducing costs. In order to accomplish this performance, it is recommended to use four organising principles, namely - knowing and accelerating the flows of information; knowing and accelerating the flows of products; knowing and complying with the mutual commitments; knowing and managing the risk.
LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT IN THE ADEQUACY OF PROCESSES IN A FOOTWEAR DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN MACEIÓ, AL (Atena Editora), 2023
The contemporary market scenario has demanded from companies and their managers a unique strategic vision in the management and conduction of operational sectors. In this context, logistics management plays an essential role in improving business performance in an increasingly competitive market. When companies directly depend on the efficiency and effectiveness of sectors related to logistics, operational processes must be oriented towards the continuous improvement of daily attributions. In the city of Maceió/AL, a shoe company depends intrinsically on the efficiency of its distribution center, given that several products are received, processed, organized and shipped daily. However, even with consolidated functions and assignments, there are problems that directly affect the effectiveness of logistics management, such as: adequacy of the order of arrival of products, detailed checking of goods, lack of standardization of some procedures, among others. Therefore, this work aims to carry out the analysis of the logistics management of this distribution center, with the aim of identifying and adapting the organizational processes, in order to propose improvements for the company's management. This way, it was necessary to establish a case study in the selected company, so that the daily processes of the logistics sector could be identified and highlighted, in addition to a qualitative analysis of the information collected for the proposition of structured improvements. The results show that logistics management must be constantly evaluated and adapted, so that its operational processes do not affect the efficiency and effectiveness of organizations.
Logistics and Supply Chain Management
1992
In this paper an introduction to the principles and methods used in logistics and supply chain management is presented. It begins by a discussion on fundamentals and explains the relevant terms. Next policy and practice associated with logistics and freight services are regarded with a focus on the EU policy for the sector which greatly influences the development of logistics chains and services. Mathematical formulation of typical transport and logistics-related problems is also presented followed by a discussion on the concept of sustainability.
The logistics streamlining of the material flow at the production company
Research in Logistics and Production, 2017
The main practical problem in the Logistics Department at the company is overstaffing in the unit responsible for the flow of materials. Carried out by the authors of the article, some detailed research on the process analysis in the discussed company indicates that the main cause of such a situation is related to an increase in the amount of transported material and a lack of redesigning the material flow in spite of the increased levels of production and acquisition of new projects. At present, at the company the material is prepared and transported by eleven employees whose work is not standardised and impossible to control. Such a large number of people working at the same time at the warehouse and moving through the transport corridors seriously affects the level of safety in a negative way. Therefore, the authors of the publication have suggested three solutions which involve some logistic changes in the existing process in order to increase safety and to reduce the number of staff involved in the transport.
