Clinical profile of patients with fibroadenoma of breast.
Aims and Objectives: To study the clinical profile of patients with fibroadenoma of breast. Methods and Materials: Fifty cases with histologically diagnosed cases of fibroadenoma were included in the study and were compared with previous data from literature. Result: All the fifty patients included in this study were indoor patients. Maximum number of patient were in third decade [64%]. Urban females have higher incidence of fibroadenoma [72%]. Most fibroadenoma are unilateral [86%]. Fibroadenoma are commonly present in upper lateral quadrant of breast [34%]. Large sized fibroadenoma are common [58%]. Pericanalicular pattern is most common histopathological finding [84%]. Surgical excision is the commonest mode of treatment [36%]. Conclusion: Fibroadenoma are common in third decade, urban female population. Fibroadenoma are usually unilateral, large size, pericanalicular, type situated in upper lateral quadrant. others skin condition. Aberration of normal differentiation and involution of breast consist of cystic nodularity and mastalgia, cysts and fibroadonoma [3].
Clinico-Histomorphological Variations in Fibroadenoma
Introduction-Fibroadenomas are the most common benign breast tumors, which typically present as a mobile palpable breast lump. It accounts for approximately 75% of all breast lesions in young females. It can undergo a variety of histological variations, Like Apocrine metaplasia, adenosis, leaf like pattern, stromal growth and myxoid change. Therefore, this study was done to evaluate the clinico-histomorphological variations in fibroadenoma. Materials and Methods-A retrospective study was done over a one year period from January 2015 to December 2015 at S. Nijalingappa Medical College and HSK Hospital, Bagalkot, Karnataka, India. All cases of breast lump confirmed as a fibroadenoma on histopathology were included in this study. A total of 224 cases were analyzed. Results-The most common affected age group in the present study was 21-30 years of age (50.45%). The majority of them presented as a unilateral lump (56.70%) and very few bilateral (4.02%). The size varies between 3-5 cms and commonly located in upper lateral quadrant (54.91%). The predominant growth pattern noted is mixed intracanalicular and pericanalicular (55.35%). The common histological changes noted were stromal overgrowth (12.05%) followed by apocrine metaplasia (9.37%) and cystic dilatation (8.92%). Rare variations such as lactational change (1.33%) and infarction (1.78%) are also noted. Conclusion-There is numerous clinico-histomorphological variations in fibroadenoma which can be confused with other benign breast diseases. Therefore, a thorough knowledge of these changes is necessary for accurate diagnosis of fibroadenoma.

Fibroadenomas are the most common benign breast tumour in young women of 20-30 years of age. In last 5 years an increase in the incidence of breast lumps in females of less than 20 years has been observed. The present study has been done to evaluate the pattern of various clinicohistopathological parameters in younger age group in comparison to elder patients (<20 & >20 yrs). 188 lumpectomy specimens of female patients, histologically diagnosed as fibroadenoma breast, were studied retrospectively for various clinichistopathological parameters (size, number, ipsilateral or bilateral, growth pattern, apocrine metaplasia, adenosis, fibrocystic changes, leaf like pattern, hyperplasia & others). Patients were divided in two groups taking the 20 years as cutoff. All the findings were compared to find out any difference in young (< 20yrs) and elder group (>20 yrs). There was increased incidence and frequency of changes like apocrine metaplasia, adenosis, leaf like pattern, stromal growth and myxoid changes in <20 yrs of females. However further larger studies are needed to know the exact etiology and pathogenesis of these changes.

Fibroadenomas (FAs) are the most common benign tumors of the breast in young females. Most of the time, it presents as a wellcircumscribed, painless, firm to hard, mobile, and slow-growing unilateral or bilateral breast lump. The median age of its presentation is 25 years with rare occurrence after menopause. The exact etiology of FA is still unclear. Unopposed estrogen in the growing breasts of young females is considered as a main factor in its pathogenesis. Family history and development of FA in identical twins are suggestive of genetic contribution to the pathogenesis of these tumors. This is a case report of young twin sisters who presented at a tertiary care hospital in Lahore with a complaint of a synchronously developed unilateral breast lump. Fine needle aspiration cytology was planned after taking a detailed history and clinical examination of both patients. Diagnosis of FA was confirmed radiologically and through cytological examination. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first case of its kind reported from Pakistan.
A SYSTEMATIC STUDY ON FIBROADENOMA OF THE BREAST
Background: Fibroadenomas are one of the main benign diseases of breast. Though considered as a risk factor for development of breast cancer its reporting has been over shadowed by that of breast cancer. Early diagnosis and treatment can relieve anxiety associated with non malignant conditions of breast. Analysis of pattern and prevalence should provide a valuable guideline for clinicians in India for comparison with other countries. Methods: A prospective study was undertaken during 6 year period and all cases with breast lesion underwent FNAC or excision biopsy. Confirmed cases of fibroadenoma were studied for clinicopathological features. A total of 210 cases were analyzed. Results: Of the 210 cases of fibroadenoma most were married urban women of age group16-30(66.1%) with average 12 months of symptoms (80%). Majority of fibroadenomas (51.9%) were 3-5 centimeters located in upper outer quadrant (43.8%).Most of the cases (78.1%) underwent excision and none presented with recurrence or carcinoma within the lesion. Conclusion: Fibroadenoma are the most common benign lesions of the breast with average age of presentation 27yrs. Excision is the best treatment for women over 35yrs to exclude malignancy.
Frequency of Fibroadenoma in Patients Presenting with Breast Lump
Journal of Postgraduate Medical Institute, 2018
Objective: To determine the frequency of fibroadenoma in patients presenting with breast lumps. Methodology: This descriptive cross sectional study was conducted in the De- partment of Surgery, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar (from 1st March 2016 to 30th May 2017) recruiting a total of 165 patients who presented with breast lump. These patients were subjected to ultrasonography, fine needle aspiration cytology and tru-cut biopsy to detect fibroadenoma. Data was ana- lyzed with SPSS 17 and presented as tables. Results: The mean age was 23.2 ±4.6 years. Maximum patients were between 15 to 25 years of age (66.7%). Left side was involved in 58.8% while right side breast lumps were present in 41.2% of patients. Breast lumps in the superi- or-medial quadrant were in 26.7% of patients, superolateral quadrant 32.7%, inferomedial quadrant 13.3% and inferolateral quadrant 27.3% patients. Fibro- adenoma was detected in 33.3% of women. Conclusion: Fibroadenoma was a common benign breast dis...
Breast Fibroadenoma an Overview
