2020

วารสารวิชาการและวิจัย มทร.พระนคร, 13(2) : 106-118The Thai wisdom knows the benefits of Carissa carandas L. to be used as a traditional herbal medicine. However, there was no scientific evidence to show that Carissa carandas L. of Thailand can treat gout or not. In this research, the Carissa carandas L. fruit extract in semi-ripening and ripe stage were studied for the phytochemical and inhibitory activity of xanthine oxidase, one of the causes of gout. The result of hytochemical indicated that the crude extract from semi-ripening stage fruit contained many substances; phenolic compounds, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins and deoxy sugars. While the ripe stage fruit contained the similar substances excepted saponins. The extract solution of Carissa carandas L. showed the xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity, as the ethanolic extract solution gave the higher activity than water extract solution. The crude extracts of semi-ripening stage fruit presented the higher activity th...

Volatile extracts obtained from 3 kinds of zingiberaceous plants, Boesenbergia pandurata Alpinia galanga and Zingiber officinal were tested for their unfavourable effects towards radial growth and spore germination of 6 postharvest disease fungi, Colletotrichum capsici (2 isolates), Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (2 isolates), Dothiorella sp., Lasiodiplodia theobromae, Pestalotiopsis sp. and Pythium aphanidermatum. The results demonstrated inhibited growth and spore germination of the tested fungi exposed to the medium poisoned with Boesenbergia pandurata or Zingiber officinale oil(1,000 ppm). B. pandurata oil caused no colony formation by C. capsici (isolate 170), Dothiorella sp. and P. aphanidermatum while 88 % reduction in radial growth of Pestalotiopsis sp. Z. officinale oil caused radial growth reduction on C. gloeosporioides isolate 163, C. gloeosporioides isolate 458, L. theobromae, Pestalotiopsis sp. and P. aphanidermatum by 69, 73, 82, 65 and 64 %, respectively. B. pandurat...

Conclusion: Data from BoodKhao books could be used...

The Study of Optimum Conditions for Hot Air Drying of Spirogyra sp. Using Response Surface

2015

The aim of this research was to optimize the drying process of Spirogyra sp. undergoing a laboratory-scale hot air drying from 8.55±0.20 g water g dry matter-1 to 0.15±0.01 g water g dry matter-1. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to determine the optimized conditions of drying of Spirogyra sp. for a minimum total color difference (TCD) while maximing total phenolic content, antioxidant activity of scavenging activity of ABTS radical and DPPH radical. Optimization factors were air temperature (60-75ºC), air velocity (1.0-2.0 m s-1) and layer thickness (0.2-0.4 mm). By using the RSM technique found that the most ideal conditions for hot air drying of Spirogyra sp. was a temperature of 69.57ºC with an air velocity of 1.60 m s-1 and material thickness of 3.05 mm. These conditions produced a total color difference value of 16.92, a total phenolic content equal to 2,502.02 mg GAE 100 g dry matter-1 , an antioxidant activity of scavenging activity of ABTS radical and DPPH radical value of 2,017.40 and 3,722.50 mg TEAC 100 g dry matter-1 , respectively.

Diversity of Macroalgae and some Water Quality Parameters in Huay Tham Khae Reservoir, Trakan Phuet Phon District, Ubon Ratchathani Province

วารสารวิจัยและพัฒนา มจธ., 2016

This research was conducted to study macroalgae diversity and some water quality parameters in Huay Tham Khae Reservoir, Trakan Phuet Phon District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The samples were collected from March to September 2013 in 3 seasons at different 10 stations in triplicate. Water samples were analyzed for some water quality parameters. The results showed that the dominant macroalgae species were Spirogyra sp. 1; this was followed by Spirogyra sp. 2, Oedogonium sp. 1, Microspora sp. and Spondylosium sp. The average observed values of water quality parameters were air temperature of 29.3°C, water temperature of 28.0°C, pH 6.56, DO of 7.95 mg/l, BOD 5 of .02 mg/l, Secchi depth of 109.2 cm, conductivity of 47.94 µs/cm, alkalinity of 25.58 mg/l, chlorophyll a content of 5.4 µg/l, orthophosphate content of 0.024 mg/l, nitrate content of 0.039 mg/l, total coliform bacteria of 300 MPN/100 ml and fecal coliform bacteria of 208.05 MPN/100 ml. The water quality in Huay Tham Khae Reservoir was classified as oligo-mesotrophic and categorized as class 2 to 3 of standard surface water. The result of PCA revealed that Spirogyra sp. 2 was positively correlated with chlorophyll a.

Immediate Effects of Thai Herbal Hot Pack Treatment on Pain and Lower Back Flexibility: A Pilot Study

Both parameters were measured at baseline and immediately after treatment. Results: The results showed that there were statistically significant difference in pain and flexibility immediately after 30 minutes of using Thai herbal hot pack…

Using Dominant Phytoplankton as a Bioindicator of Water Quality in Huay Samran, Sisaket Province

วารสารวิจัยและพัฒนา มจธ., 2015

This work studied the use of phytoplankton as a bioindicator to assess the quality of water in Huay Samran, Sisaket province. Sampling was taken from 6 stations during December 2013 to August 2014. Water samples were filtered through a plankton net with an opening size of 21 micrometers. A total of 5 divisions with 104 species were found. The largest number of species was in division Chlorophyta (58 species); this was followed by Euglenophyta (20 species) and Chrysophyta (15 species). Top three dominant species were Closterium sp. 1; this was followed by Ceratium furcoides (Levander) Langhans and Navicula sp. 1. The AARL-PP Score (Applied Algal Research Laboratory-Phytoplankton) of 5.0 was noted, implying that Huay Samran could be classified as being in a mesotrophic condition. The correlation between the dominant species and water quality was then determined. Closterium sp. 1 positively correlated with the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of the water. C. furcoides (Levander) Langhans positively correlated with the transparency, pH and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) of the water. Navicula sp. 1 positively correlated with the transparency but negatively correlated with the phosphate concentration at a confidence level of 95%. Based on the observed data, it is concluded that Huay Samran could be classified as in the Category 3 of the water quality standards for surface water.
