An Analysis of Students’ Speaking Anxiety Faced by the Fourth Semester Students of English Education Study Program of English Department of Universitas Negeri Padang

This research was conducted to find out the type and the level of speaking anxiety faced by the forth semester students of English Education Study Program of English Department of Universitas Negeri Padang. This descriptive research used a quantitative descriptive method. The research instruments are questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire used in this research is adapted from the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) designed by Horwitz. It consists of 33 statements which have three categories as well as communication apprehension, fear of speaking test, and fear of feedback by peers and lecturer. Based on the research analysis, it was found that the level of students’ speaking anxiety is in the middle level with the percentage was 82%. It was significantly different with other levels which had 9% for low level and also 9% for high level. Students’ anxiety factors in speaking English : a case study at the 8th grade of SMP N 16 Semarang in the academic year of 2016/2017

This study is to investigate foreign language anxiety of EFL junior secondary school students at the 8th grade of SMPN 16 Semarang. Spesifically, it sought to identify what factors that may contribute to students’ anxiety in speaking English based on the students’ perspectives. The method used in this study was qualitative method with case study approach. Eleven perceivedly-anxious students were selected as the participants. The data were gathered through structured classroom observations and interviews. Anxiety is uncomfortable feeling that someone feels in facing any situation. Anxiety is common problem in speaking especially to learners.The purpose of the research was to find out the factors and the types of students’ anxiety in speaking at second semester students of English study program at University of Pasir Pengaraian. This research was design a descriptive qualitative research and instrument that the researcher used in collecting the data is questionnaire. The sample of the research were 15students. The finding result of the research showed, there were 14 students classified into state anxiety, and 1 students classified into trait anxiety. So the most of second semester students were classified into state anxiety.This result was taken from open-ended questions.

An Analysis of Students Speaking Anxiety of Eleventh Grade Students at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam

The objective of the research is to know the causes of students' anxiety in speaking English, the types of students' anxiety, and the level of students' anxiety in speaking English in the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. This study uses qualitative methods by collecting data through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that there are 3 factors of student anxiety in learning English according to Horwits' theory (2011), namely (1) Communication Apprehension, where students have difficulty speaking English because they do not have much knowledge about English, (2) Test Anxiety, where students feel anxious when they have to take an English test, and (3) Fear of Negative Evaluation, where students are afraid that the teacher and their friends will laugh if students make mistakes. Students’ Level of Speaking Anxiety of the Third Semester Students of English Education Study Program of Fkip Uki Toraja

The purpose of this research is to find the level of speaking anxiety of the third semester students’ of English education study program FKIP UKI Toraja. In analyzing the data of this research, the researcher employed quantitative method. The subject of this research were the third semester students’ of English education study program FKIP UKI Toraja. The data of this research was collected by questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using likert scale techniques to analyze data. The results of the research indicate that speaking anxiety is experienced by most students. The data obtained from the positive statement is 66,5% and from the negative statement is 65,9%. Speaking is a productive skill that can be directly observed by considering several aspects. It can trigger the students’ anxiety as a psychological factor to communicate foreign language with others. A STUDY ON STUDENTS' ANXIETY IN SPEAKING ENGLISH

This research explains students’ anxiety in speaking English at the Fourth semester of English Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah University of Palu. This is qualitative research. In collecting data, the researcher used interviews. The researcher used three major phases of the data analysis, they were: data reduction, data display, and data verification. From the data analysis, the researcher came across some conclusions: first, researcher found that the factors of students' anxiety in speaking English are: come from the teacher (threatening acts, incomprehensible input, and pressure). Second, it comes from the students (lack of knowledge, fear of negative evaluation, low self-esteem, and should speak perfect). Third, comes from the environment (from non-intensive English school and unsupportive classmates).

The objective of this research was to find out what factors cause the anxiety in speaking English by the Second Semester Students of English Department of FKIP UKI Toraja. In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research with survey design. The researcher used interview as the way to get the data. An Analysis on Students’ Speaking Anxietyat Tenth Graders of Ma Mu’Allimat NW Pancorin the Academic Year 2017-2018

This study is aimed at investigating students' speaking anxiety at the tenth graders of Religion class of MA Mu'allimat NW Pancor in the academic year 2017-2018. The purposes of the study were: 1) to know what kinds of anxiety the students experience in speaking English; 2) to find the factors of students' speaking anxiety; 3) to learn on what proper method and technique to decrease students' speaking anxiety. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The participants were consisted of 15 students and have been chosen using purposive sampling. Finding reveals that there are three types of students' anxiety, which are trait anxiety, state anxiety and specific-situation anxiety. For the result of questionnaire, the formula that used was the gained score of respondent divided to total score of five aspects times 100%. The result showed that there were 73.3% agree respond which indicated students faced English speaking anxiety, 17.62% chose neutral, and the rest chose disagree option with 9.05% percentage. Beside questionnaire, the observation and interview result also showed that majority of the students had English speaking anxiety with various factors.
