Inequality–Conflict Research Beyond Neo-Liberal Discourse (original) (raw)

This paper discusses the necessity for a paradigm shift in peace research, particularly in the context of growing inequalities within neoliberal frameworks. It highlights the historical evolution of peace research from a focus on international relations to intrastate conflicts influenced by identity issues, emphasizing the importance of situating people and their needs at the forefront of conflict resolution strategies. By advocating for a micro-structural approach, the author argues that tailored solutions considering local contexts can effectively address the socio-economic discontent that often leads to violence, thereby fostering social justice.
