WEBOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF WEBSITES OF CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES OF EASTERN INDIA: A STUDY

The study presents the webometric analysis of the websites of 7 Central Universities of the Eastern India region. The study aims to identify and evaluate the web presence, Domain Name, Domain Authority, Page Authority, Google PageRank, Rich files, Language, and Social Media presence of the selected websites under study. To accomplish the objectives of the study, the Google search engine, some search engine optimization (SEO) tools, and manual website visits have been used to analyse the websites under study. Major findings of the study include that all universities' websites have the same Google PageRank value i.e. 4, the website of Visva Bharti has the highest Domain Authority, Central University of Jharkhand's website has the highest Page Authority, the website of Nalanda University is the single website which uses only one language, i.e. English. All universities have their presence on social media at different platforms. The study is unique and latest in the website analysis category. Very few webometric studies have been conducted on the universities of the Eastern region of India. This study is an effort to fill this gap. The present study concluded with some suggestions that will be helpful for Policymakers and Website developers to enhance their websites and their visibility on the Web.

Websites of Central Universities in India: A Webometric Analysis

Webometrics is concerned with measuring aspects of the web: websites, web pages, parts of web pages, words in web pages, etc. This study examines 40 central universities websites in India. Investigates domain systems of the websites, analyses the number of webpages and link pages and calculates the simple web impact factor, self link web impact factor, external link web impact factor and revised web impact factor for Central universities in India and ranks the websites as per the WIF. It also develops a novel network diagram showing link structures between web nodes in webometric analysis. This study warns against taking the analogy between citation analysis and link analysis too far.

Webpage Analysis of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) : A Webometric Study

The purpose of this research is to look at the website analysis of the 43 Indian institutions (IIT and IIM). The research focused on webometric analysis, which looked at the domain name, domain age, external and internal linkages, as well as all three types of web effects on all responder websites. The study also looks at how stakeholders from both inside and outside the country use websites. The goal of this study is to look into the webometric elements of India\u27s all IIT and IIM institutions. A ranking of the university websites based on several webometric variables was attempted. The domain age, domain extension, internal link, external link, page speed, web impact factors and Alexa Ranking of the websites were all calculated in the study

Webometric analysis of Central Universities in India: A study

Web presence of Indian Universities has been reflected in general and Central Universities in particular. Webometric data have been collected through Yahoo! and Google search engines using special query syntax. An attempt has been made to rank Central Universities in India using appropriate webometric indicators. Results reveled that University of Delhi becomes top rank (with score 4.28 and Sikkim University occupied the last (with score 1.64) among Central Universities in India.

Websites of Top-Ranked Indian Higher Education Institutions: A Webometric Analysis

This paper explores a webometric study of the top25 institutions in India as ranked by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), a nodal ranking agency of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Efforts were made to establish a sort of ranking among these institutions' websites by applying various webometric indicators, the important ones being web impact factor, WISER index, Alexa traffic rank, search engine optimisation, the security rank of website, the number of social media followers, and external backlinks. Indian Institute of Technology, Indore, ranked first regarding web impact factor (WIF) (8.678343949), whereas Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee ranked first regarding search engine optimisation. Calculating Web Impact Factor for University Websites of Jammu and Kashmir: A Study

This paper examines and explores the web impact factor through a webometric study of the present 12 University Websites of Jammu and Kashmir. Identifies the domain systems of the websites; analyzes the number of web pages and link pages, and calculates the External Link WIF or simple web impact factor (WIF) and external web impact factor of all the University websites. Also reflects that some university websites have higher number of web pages, but correspondingly their link pages are very small in number and websites fall behind in their simple and external link web impact factor.It found that the Cluster University of Jammu ranked 1(0.9018)in Internal Link WIF of Websites in Jammu and Kashmir. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University ranked 1 (0.7249) in External Link Web Impact Factor.

Webometrics is concerned with measuring aspects of the web: web sites, web pages, parts of web pages, words in web pages, hyperlinks, web search engine results. Webometrics is huge and easily accessible source of information, there are limitless possibilities for measuring or counting on a huge scale of the number of web pages, the number of web sites, the number of blogs) or on a smaller scale. This study found the traffic rank in India, especially Central Universities of North East Region, the best-ranked Central University of North East Region are NEHU and TU with traffic ranks of 8484 and 8,511 respectively. Nagaland University has the highest number of average pages viewed by users per day (4.1), Sikkim University has highest (55.7%) upstream site of Google among other Central Universities of North East Region in India, 100% of sub domain at “manipuruniv.ac.in” for Manipur University website and “cau.ac.in” for Central Agricultural University. North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and Sikkim University (SU) shows higher rate of bounce percentage (42.50) shows its weak performance.

A WEBOMETRICS ANALYSIS OF INDIAN AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES

A Webometrics analysis is carried out to analyze the impact study on the accessibility of e-resources from web pages of all the agricultural universities and colleges of India. Webometrics is tool for measuring the impact of the web. At present institutional websites become an indicator on the quality of the institution. In the case of agricultural university websites, it has more responsibility in providing information to the stake holders of agriculture rather than showcasing its achievements. This paper aims to find out an impact of the web usage on agricultural universities in India by applying webometrics tool in comparison with 2010 alexa page rank for agricultural universities and colleges in India. A total numbers of 70 universities in India are taken for analysis by the application of Alexa rank tool and Google page rank tool for better understanding of web traffic and its state wise impact.

Webometric Analysis of University Websites in Sri Lanka

Abundant research has been done on webometrics regarding the control of websites on each other and the trustworthiness of Web Impact Factor (WIF) as a quantitative instrument to demonstrate the visibility and brunt of websites. The main intention of this investigation is to learn the impact of 19 universities spread over the country of Sri Lanka on the web. Consequently, total number of web pages and links into every university were calculated by advance search skill of AltaVista search engine. On the whole, inlink and self-link WIFs for all website were calculated. In wrapping up the universities ranked according to these parameters. The outcome demonstrates that The universities of Srilanka are possessing varied domains for their home pages namely .ac .net and .lk but most of them (89.47%) prefer the sub level domain like .ac, University of Colombo, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, University of Peradeniya ranked one by possessing highest web pages, inlinks and selflinks respectively. University of the Visual & Performing Arts of Sri Lanka topped one for web impact factor for inlinks, The Open University of Sri Lanka ranked one for web impact factor for selflinks and here once again university of Colombo is first in the WISER ranking
