The Capital adequacy, Asset quality, Management efficiency, Earning and Liquidity are taken as independent variables (financial measures) with a view to study their impact on the firm‘s performance. Earnings per share (EPS) is used as a dependent variable. Measurable apparatuses like descriptive statistics, Correlation and regression analysis were used to gauge the execution of the banks. The results show that total deposit to to equity, non-performing loans to gross advances, non performing loans to equity, Admin Exp to Interest Income Ratio, Gross Advances to Total Deposits Ratio were significantly but negative correlated with a bank’s performance. The Return on Assets and Return on Equity were significantly and positively correlated with a bank’s performance. The interest income to total assets ratio is statistically insignificant with bank’s performance, whereas the regression result show that INT is statistically significant with bank’s performance. The cash ratio is also showing insignificant correlated bank’s performance, whereas the regression result shows that the cash ratio is statistically significant with a bank’s performance. Key words: Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management Efficiency, earnings & Profitability, Liquidity, bank’s performance (earning per share)

To determine capital adequacy in the current research, we took into account: Capital Adequacy Ratio and Government Securities to Total Investments Ratio. To measure asset quality we considered: Total Investment to Total Assets and Net NPA Ratio. To measure Management efficiency we considered: Business per employee and Profit per employee. To measure earnings quality we considered: EPS (Earnings per share); Operating Profit to Average Working Funds and Dividend payout ratio. To measure liquidity we considered: Investment to total deposits and Government securities to total deposits. The study has considered a period of six years i.e., from 2017 to 2022. The primary objective of the present study is to focus on the performance appraisal of five Indian banks all the banks are public sector banks viz., SBI, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, PNB and Union Bank. REST Journal on Banking, Accounting and Business, 2022
In this study, a range of multi-criteria decision-making approaches is used to analyze the performance of Indian private-sector banks. Data was collected and performance was evaluated by taking into account a variety of inputs and outputs using annual reports from the relevant banks. For data analysis, PROMETHEE, a crucial multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) technique, is employed. The research indicates that HDFC is the private sector bank with the best performance and establishes a standard. By the implementation of MCDM techniques i.e. PROMETHEE ICICI is ranked first followed by HDFC at the second spot. Different methodologies have led to different rankings for other institutions. To extend the time range of analysis after the PROMETHEE rankings have been obtained, future studies on the performance of banks may compare various bank types. According to the findings, private sector banks should invest in areas that will provide income to improve their performance. Efficiency needs to be raised if businesses are to survive in the market and compete with the government and foreign institutions. These findings are beneficial to a wide range of participants, especially investors who want to comprehend the value of banks as possible investment targets. For the first time, scientists have combined MCDM strategies like PROMETHEE. MCDM techniques have been used to examine specific inputs and outputs for private sector banks to determine performance.
Performance Analysis of Select Private Sector Banks in India
A study is made on performance analysis of select private sector banks by choosing seven banks on the basis of high deposit volume and total assets. The objective is to analyse the performance of these banks, selected by Judgement Sampling Technique, by using various ratios under CAMEL Model. Data analysis and interpretations were made with special reference to Capital Adequacy by analysing ten years profit and loss account and balance sheets of these banks from 2006 through 2015 under CAMEL Model. The statistical data of other ratios for Asset Quality, Management efficiency, Earning efficiency and Liquidity efficiency are alone considered for better understanding of composite ranking of these banks under all parameters. One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test has been used as part of statistical analysis and to test the hypothesis that whether these ratios are normally distributed. The findings, suggestions, limitations of the study and conclusions have been given accordingly.
