Labour migration, social incorporation and transmigration in the New Europe. The case of Germany in a comparative perspective (original) (raw)
This paper examines the dynamics of labour migration and social incorporation within the context of a transforming Europe, using Germany as a focal point for analysis. It discusses the demographic challenges faced by various European countries, particularly the impacts of low fertility and ageing populations, which necessitate a re-examination of migration policies. The text highlights the complexities of national integration traditions and the challenges posed by globalization and transnationalism, suggesting that a successful New Europe will require a genuine transnational collaboration that intertwines social networks and everyday experiences across borders.
