Intellectual Property Rights and Economic Growth: The Case of Middle Income Developing Countries (original) (raw)
This paper examines the relationship between Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and economic growth in middle-income developing countries, highlighting IPRs' potential impact on productivity, innovation, and poverty alleviation. Using a comprehensive dataset spanning several decades, the analysis indicates a negative correlation between IPRs and GDP per capita in the studied contexts, suggesting that while IPRs are intended to support economic development, they may inadvertently hinder growth in specific scenarios.
