Myofascial Techniques and Kinesio Tape in Musculoskeletal Spine Dysfunction
Despite advances in assessment and treatment methods in recent years, chronic back pain remains a serious challenge. It leads to a significant deterioration in the functionality and performance of people suffering from this pathology. On the other hand, the high intensity of pain restricts movement and daily activities and worsens the quality of life of people. Kinesio Taping has become an important adjunct to kinesitherapy treatment in recent years. Modern understanding of fascia and specialized myofascial techniques is increasingly entering the therapeutic practice. Aim: The study aims to investigate the effect of myofascial technique in combination with kinesiotape in patients with musculoskeletal dysfunction in spine. Methodology: The study included 48 persons, mean age 44.81±5.07years with a proven musculoskeletal dysfunction in the spine. Patients were randomly divided into two groups control (CG) (n=23) and experimental (EG) (n=25) where we applied specialized myofascial tech...

The article presents an unstructured review of publications that describe methods and technologies for determining the parameters of spinal deformity in the horizontal plane in patients with the scoliotic disease. Descriptiveness and clinical suitability of the most well-known and practically significant methods are investigated. At X-ray investigation, the character and parameters of curvature are studied in three planes. In the frontal plane, the magnitude of the lateral arcs of deformation is determined; in the sagittal plane, the state of the spine profile is assessed. When studying the parameters of spinal deformation in the horizontal plane, there are rotational displacement and torsional deformation. The authors noted that medical scientists often equal and confuse the two concepts. Determining the characteristics of spinal deformity in the horizontal plane is an important tool for preoperative planning, while in conservative treatment and dynamic monitoring, the main attenti...

Objective. To investigate the effectiveness of the application of hardware myofascial release with thermal influence and longitudinal traction in patients with dorsal pain, caused by spine degenerative diseases. Methods. A prospective study of the results of treatment of 297 patients with dorsal pain, caused by spine degenerative diseases. All patients were divided into 3 groups: D (158) — dorsal pain; DIK (31) — dorsal pain with irradiation in the lower limb; DIS (108) — dorsal pain with irradiation in the buttock. The comparison group consisted of 43 volunteer athletes. With the help of the Nuga Best N5 device, all participants underwent a course of treatment (10 sessions within two weeks, thermal influence — 45‒60 °C, depending on the comfort of the patient). Before and after treatment, patients were examined according to the visual analog scale (VAS), the Oswestry questionnaire, volunteers — according to the Oswestry scale. Statistical analysis was performed. The results. ...

Objectives. To determine the biological response of growing spine to rigid segmental fixation. Summary of background data. Pedicle screw is gaining popularity in pediatric deformities. Yet, biological response of actively growing spine to rigid pedicle screw fixation remains unclear. Methods. Twelve mini pigs in actively growing period were subjected to posterior segmental screw-rod instrumentation spanning 9 levels and creation of experimental scoliosis. There was no attempt of posterior arthrodesis. The pigs were subjected to periodic radiological examinations and were euthanized at 18 months for analysis. Results. There was no significant fixation failure despite conspicuous growth of the animals. Initial scoliosis of 31 ± 5° was reduced to 27 ± 8° at 18months, but there was no statistical significance (p=0.37). Though there was no change in length of the implant construct, the vertebrae within the instrumented section showed mean longitudinal growth of 6 ± 3 mm (p = 0.000). The ...
Features of Sagittal Spino-Pelvic Relations in Patients with Hip-Spine Syndrome
Hirurgiâ pozvonočnika, 2012
To analyze principal parameters of sagittal spinopelvic relations in patients with hip-spine syndrome. Material and Methods. Clinical examination protocols and X-ray images of 42 patients with unilateral or bilateral grade 3 hip arthrosis and vertebrogenic pain syndrome were analyzed. Four principal sagittal parameters of spino-pelvic balance were measured, statistically processed, and compared with normal values. Results. The positive correlation was found between the sacral slope and the lumbar lordosis. Normal spino-pelvic relations were noted in 6 (14.3 %) cases, an excessive anteversion of the pelvis with compensatory hyperlordosis-in 34 (81.0 %), and retroversion of the pelvis with flattening of the lumbar lordosis-in 2 (4.7 %) cases. Conclusion. Changes in hip joints cause compensatory responses of the spine. Unilateral or bilateral hip joint arthrosis in most cases leads to excessive anteversion of the pelvis and hyperlordosis of the lumber spine with overloading of its segments. Another variant of compensatory posture is retroversion of the pelvis with a loss of lumbar lordosis. Both types of compensatory vertical posture are associated with vertebrogenic pain syndrome and degenerative-dystrophic changes in the spine.

Osteochondrosis incidence statistics worldwide indicates that more people suffer from this disease 80% of the population. And more than half of these people unaware of his pathological condition because of the disease is in a latent period of its development. Due to the frequent duration of the disease in therapeutic, as well as a variety of therapeutic options, the treatment of lumbar vertebrae is a special challenge. Today, lumbar osteochondrosis is considered a serious disease that occurs in people of all ages and has a steady tendency to youth, more and more often the disease is diagnosed in people under 20 years of age. The basic treatment and the most widespread diseases on an osteochondrosis on department of a backbone are listed. Yes, according to the data statistics of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, already in 2001 osteochondrosis spine was 2.91% of disability in diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, and primary disability was 1.5 per 100 thousand populat...
