The aim of this study is to describe there is significant between students’ writing skill in descriptive text before and after being taught by using picture of the first year students of SMAN 1 Karangrejo. The design of this study is quantitative design. The research was students of X-3 class that consists of 38 students. The instrument of this research was test that consists of pre-test and post test. The result is known that there is significant difference before and after being taught by using picture. It means teaching writing descriptive text by using picture of the first year students of SMAN 1 Karangrejo is effective. It is recommended to the teacher to use picture as a medium in teaching descriptive writing and to increase the students writing skill.
The Use of Picture and Picture Technique in Improving Student Writing Skill

This study is aimed to know whether picture and picture technique can improve students’ writing skill. The method used was quantitative research with one group pre-test and post-test research design. The population was the 11th grade students at SMK Tunas Bangsa. The sample was one class of mechanical engineering major and consisted of 35 students.The result showed that null hypothesis of this study was rejected. It is proved by the data from T-test that shows the Sig. 2 tailed is 0.000. This value is less than 0.05. Null hypothesis, therefore, was rejected. Improving The Students’ Writing Skill by Using Picture

The objectives of this thesis are to describe whether picture improves students’ writing skill and to describe the classroom situation when picture is used in writing class. The method of the research was classroom action research. The action research was conducted from January to April 2013 and was carried out in two cycles in 32 students of VIII A in SMPN 1 Jaten. The researcher collected the data using observation and questionnaire. After collecting the data, the researcher analyzed the data using qualitative and quantitative technique. The research findings show that the using of picture could improve the students’ writing. It can be seen from the mean scores improvement of pre test, post test cycle 1 ,and post test cycle 2, were 51.62 for the pre-test, 68.00 for the post-test in cycle 1 and 78.31 for the post-test in cycle 2. The using of picture in teaching writing also could improve classroom situation in writing class.
The Effect of Picture and Picture on Students' Achievement in Writing Descriptive Text

This study aims to determine whether the picture and picture method has a significant effect on the text description writing skills of students at SMP Al-Hidayah Medan or not. This study used quantitative method. The results of this study were obtained from the t test with a significance level of α = 0.05 and the accumulated results of two different groups, namely the experimental group (which applied picture and picture) and the control group (which did not use picture and picture). In the pre-test experimental group the average result obtained was 51.15 while the average post-test result was 83.75. In the pre-test control group the average result obtained was 53.45, while the average post-test result was 79.65. The results of the hypothesis obtained are ttest = 2.831 ≥ ttable = 1.685. This proves that the value of the experimental group is better than the control group, so it can be concluded that the use of pictures and picture methods can have a significant impact on students' descriptive writing skills.

The writing skills are complex and sometimes difficult to teach , The difficulties are due to weaknesses in grammar and vocabulary. Another problem, the students have a lot of ideas in their minds but they worry to start and even they don't know how to develop ideas. Uninteresting topic and unsuitable teaching techniques can influence students interest in writing English. To solve this problem, the English teacher should have to be more creative in choosing the material and techniques which can make the writing class more interesting, exciting and enjoyable. Materials are divided into two points they are visual and non visual material. Visual material offers, an attractive and stimulating framework for writing practice. One of the visual materials is picture. Picture is very suitable to be applied to the students of senior high school as a method writing skill. The objective of the research will find out the improvement students writing ability by using sequence picture and the interest of the students to use sequence picture at SMAN 1 Sungguminasa this research will use class action research that consisted two cycles the research population was the first grade of SMAN I Sungguminasa academic year 2015/2016the sample of this research consisted of 30 students. In Indonesia English is a foreign language, not a second language.
