Students with high academic anxiety can cause a decrease in motivation to learn. This kind of situation will harm the learning achievement achieved by students. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of social cognitive career theory on improving student career decision making. This study used a randomized experimental pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 16 students of VHS Boyolali were the subjects in this study. Selection of subjects using purposive sampling technique which is based on the criteria of low career decision-making ability, obtained from the score of career decision making scale. The data analysis technique used was the Wilcoxon test. The results of statistical tests show that there is an effect of social cognitive career theory on increasing student career decision making. The findings of this study prove that the social cognitive career theory is effective in improving student career decision making at VHS Boyolali.
The effect of a career decision-making group guidance program on career decision-making difficulties
This study analyzed the effect of a career decision-making program on high school students' decision-making difficulties. In this study, the placebo control group with pretest, posttest and follow-up test experimental design has been used. Students have participated in experimental group (female:8, male:7) and placebo control group (female:7; male:8). These students have been selected randomly among 400 students from two different high schools in Turkey. Career decision-making difficulties have been measured by the scale of Career Decision-making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) which was originally developed by Gati and Saka and adapted to Turkish adolescents by Bacanli. Covariance analyses have been conducted to examine possible differences in students’ responses before and after the career decision-making guidance program. All levels of career decision-making difficulties of the experimental group have significantly decreased in comparison to those of the placebo control group. Furthermore, career decision-making program was applied to the experimental group for 11 weeks after treatment and, in general, the decrease in the levels of difficulty still existed. However, the decrease in the external conflicts has not continued. These findings indicate that it is effective on decreasing the career decision-making difficulties of the 9th grade students. These findings and suggestions with regard to the scientific study on the field of career counseling and guidance are offered.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavior Group Counseling to improve career decision making self-efficacy of high school students. This research is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The research design was the pre-test and post-test control group design. The population in this study were 144 students of class XII SMA Negeri in Singaraja district who had a very low level of self-efficacy in career decision making. The research sample consisted of 12 students obtained through purposive sampling technique. The sample consisted of 6 students as the experimental group and 6 students as the control group. Data collection uses a career decision making self-efficacy measurement scale. Research on the effect of career counselling on career decision making of young adolescents

A long thirty years of experience as a teacher and career counsellor for the high school and higher secondary students was the inspiration behind this research. Adolescent stage is a stressful period as it is a transition from childhood to adulthood. In addition to this, education is found to be very stressful to many, even to a bright one. Egbo(2013) stated that " the total development of a child can only take place in an environment conducive for teaching and learning". Students need guidance at this time not only for their personal and emotional issues but also for making decisions on selecting future courses and career.This paper aims to explore the gender differences in making career decisions among young adolescents.

Career guidance and counselling is a vaguely implemented concept in most educational institutions, governmental and non-governmental organisations. The severity of the problem and scarcity of relevant information among university students have prompted the undertaking of this study the aim of which was to assess career development among undergraduate students of Madda Walabu University. Crosssectional study design was employed to gather quantitative data through self-administered structured questionnaires. The participants in the study were 605 undergraduate students of Madda Walabu University who were recruited through multi-stage sampling. The analysis employed SPSS-20.0 to calculate t-test and ANOVA. The findings suggested that socio-demographic variables were important in determining the factors, levels and variances in career development. The participants' perceived benefit of career development has shown that there is a statistically significant difference between the expected mean and the observed mean, t (604) =29.11, p<.01. However, they had only some unsatisfactory information on career development and most of them (47.4%) did not have a bright future. The result of this study showed that career development is important in understanding students' personal values, clarifying their goals, career choice directions and job-searching skills. Because the respondents' reported information on career development is so poor, lack of future direction and decreased performance are inevitable. It is suggested that career counselling services are seen to be highly recommendable in advancing students' career development in many aspects.

The aim of this study is to discover the various career decision-making difficulties experienced by high school students as a basis for developing career guidance applications. This study involved 1913 high school students in grade 10-12 in the area of DKI Jakarta and West Java using convenience sampling techniques. The instrument used in this study is SKPK (Career Decision Making Difficulty Scale – the Indonesian version). The results showed the level of difficulty of career decision making for high school students at the moderate level, especially in the aspect of lack of information and inconsistent information.

Effects of Career Choice Intervention on Components of Career Preparation

This randomized experimental study (N = 1,034) examines both the direct and the indirect effects of the Towards Working Life intervention on 2 components of adolescents' career preparation: preparedness for career choice and attitude toward career planning. The intervention comprised a 1-week workshop program, the proximal goals of which were to enhance 9th graders' career choice preparedness and attitude toward career planning. Participants were assessed at baseline and immediately after the intervention. The results showed that the intervention had directly improved the students' career choice preparedness, which in turn increased positive attitude toward career planning. Implications for both theory and practice are discussed. Career preparation has been viewed as a major developmental task for adolescents, the successful performance of which improves personal development, social adjustment, and future well-being (Erikson, 1968; Super, 1990). Savickas (1999) summarized that career developmental theories view "awareness of the choices to be made and information and planning that bear on these choices" (p. 334) as the main predictors of successful career choices and smooth transitions from school to work. Since the early work of Crites (1978), career theories generally have stressed two distinct factors that affect educational and vocational decisions and the implementation of career choices (Savickas, 1999). The first is a competence factor. Crites formulated the model of career maturity, which includes five career choice competencies: (a) selfknowledge, (b) occupational information, (c) goal selection, (d) planning, and (e) problem solving. One of the biggest challenges that have to be faced by students of university is deciding on a specific career after graduating from university. The aims of this study are for knowing what students needed (study 1) and for testing whether career counseling can increase CDSE students of the university (study 2). In study 1, we use qualitative and quantitative approaches. On the other side, study 2 uses Quasi-Experimental within-subject pre and post-tests designed to monitor the role of career counseling on students. Study 2 involves (N=15) students CDMSES-SF is adopted in Bahasa and Culture. Using the Wilcoxon test on SPSS 24, we intend to know the significance of changes in students' CDSE. Self-efficacy and career decision making difficulties in senior high school students

This research aims to determine the correlation between self-efficacy and career decision-making difficulties in senior high school students, also to determine the differences in career decision-making difficulties between public school students and private school students. The dependent variable was career decision-making difficulties, and the independent variable was self-efficacy. This research used a quantitative method. The samples analyzed were 193 students of senior high school N and S in Semarang. The data collection of this study used methods of career decision-making difficulties questionnaire and scale of self-efficacy. Career decision-making difficulties questionnaire amounted 38 items with item-total correlation 0.380-0.768 and internal consistency equaled to 0.960. The scale of self-efficacy amounted 29 items with item-total correlation of 0.399-0,614 and internal consistency equal to 0.911. In this research, the data analysis used a bivariate correlation from Pearson and Independent-Samples t-Test. Based on the results of Product Moment analysis, it obtained r =-0.528 with significance level p=0.000 (p<0.05). The result showed that there was a significant negative relationship between career decision-making difficulties and self-efficacy in senior high school students. The result of statistics of independent-samples t-test was F=1.496 with significance of 0,319 (p>0.01) and mean value for senior high school students N of 66.14 was higher than the mean value of senior high school students S of 62.44. The result showed that there was no significance in career decision-making difficulties between public and private senior high school.
