Abstract

This thesis from the IFCS (Institute for Training in Healthcare Careers) represents a practical guide to respiratory physical therapy in adults. Execution of this therapy is essentially based on five physical phenomena namely gravity kinetic effort the mechanics of airflow outside forces and vibrations. After a review of anatomy and physiology the guide reports two physical therapy evaluations comprised of patient interviews targeting the age and functional symptomology the functional signs characterized by dyspnea coughing and expectoration. The subjective assessment focuses on the morphological study of the thorax and the neighboring regions its inspection and palpation and the observation of respiratory symptoms in the subject. As for the objective assessment it targets thorax expansion evaluation of the strength of the respiratory muscles thoracoabdominal coordination and current spirometric parameters and a standard physical therapy chart used in current practice.
