WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT USING PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF KANKE DAM RANCHI, JHARKHAND
The study was aimed to assess the water quality of kanke dam, Ranchi. Seasonal variations in physico-chemical characteristics such as temperature, pH, turbidity, Total dissolved solids, total hardness, dissolved Oxygen, BOD, COD, chloride, nitrate, sulphate and phosphate etc were analysed for a period of one year. The results indicated that most of the physico-chemical components found within acceptable limit whereas the value of some components found beyond the permissible limit, which causes unsuitability of water for the use of various purposes.
A systematic study has been carried out to assess the Water Quality Index of Chandola Lake, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. Water samples from ten sampling sites were collected and analyzed for physico-chemical parameters (electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, pH, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, total hardness, calcium, magnesium, chloride, nitrate and biological oxygen demand). The study area experiences a seasonal climate and broadly divided into three seasons as monsoon (June to September), winter (October to January) and summer (March to May). The samples were collected and analyzed for one year from September 2013 to August 2014. Each parameter was compared with the standard desirable limit of that parameter in lake water as prescribed by different agencies. The analytical data of various physico-chemical parameters indicates that some parameters like total dissolved solids, pH, alkalinity, total hardness and calcium was beyond the permissible limit according to WHO and BIS standards for drinking purpose in the year. The WQI value indicates that water samples of summer and monsoon season were unsuitable for drinking.
ASSESSMENT OF WATER QUALITY USING PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS OF A LENTIC WATER BODY OF JAMMU, J&K
The study of physical and chemical characteristics of water provides a considerable insight into quality of water present in water body. The present investigation was centralized in a pond for one year from May 2012 to April 2013. Various physico-chemical parameters such as water temperature, air temperature, pH, free Co 2 , dissolved oxygen, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, sulphate and phosphate were analysed. The results revealed that there was significant seasonal variation in some physicochemical parameters and most of the parameters were in normal range and indicated better quality of pond water.

Water resources have great importance for the existence of life. Freshwater resources in the plateau area in Sangamner Taluka of Ahmednagar district are limited. Therefore, there is a need of sustainable use of water resources especially lakes. The physicochemical analysis is necessary to know the water quality. This study aimed at the monitoring of water quality for its sustainable use by assessing the physicochemical parameters of small lakes in the plateau region of Sangamner Taluka. In the present study, the water samples were collected from the spots selected for the study in different seasons. The physicochemical parameters viz. temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, dissolved Carbon dioxide, alkalinity, hardness and T.D.S. were recorded by using standard methods. The present investigation study about the Physico-chemical and biological charectarestics of Adilabad district town lake, Andra Pradesh, India. A peice of research work done during the period from June 2014 to May 2015.It is situated 1 ½ distance from bus stand. In this research ten Physico-chemical parameters were analysed by standed methods, plankton, fish species also identified. In Research period Physico-chemical parameters ranges between above moderated polluted water levels that's why in summer season deoxygenated problem in this lake, it is cause to fish species died in summer season, floating on the surface of water body. In this lake low number of plankton species identified. The result of the present investigation reveal that commonly occurrence of 11 fish species were identified. Tovoid sewage consult, drainage water consult, washing of clothes, buffallow cleaning and domestic activities surrounding the lake. Establish waste water recycling plants to protection of Lake Environment. Finally i am concluded lake water quality above moderated pollution level. For future generations some precaution should be taken to the sarrounding lake environment. Adilabad district town people it is a very good water resource for sustainable development of future generations.
EVALUATION OF WATER QUALITY STATUS OF LAKES OF TASGAON TEHSIL, DIST. SANGLI (M.S.) INDIA

Water is an essence of life every living thing, all living things on earth are totally dependent on water. Nowadayswater quality is affecting due to the pollution, industrialization, and overuse of chemical pesticides, fertilizers, etc. The present study reveals that the influence of environmental parameters and anthropogenic activities on water quality at different lake regions of Tasgaon Tehsil Dist. Sangli (M.S.) India, namely, Siddhewadi, Anjani, Agrani (Gavhan), Bastawade and Gaurgaon (Balgavde) on the basis of water quality index. The present Water quality index was determined for a period of one year from October 2017 to November 2018. Water quality index was determined on the basis of various physicochemical parameters like Temperature, pH, Total alkalinity, acidity, Total hardness (Ca & Mg), Chlorides, Total dissolved solids (TDS), Chemical oxygen demand (COD) and Biological oxygen demand (BOD). All the recorded parameters from different lakes were found fluctuation and within the desirable limits of tolerance as computed by WHO.

In order to understand the water quality of five selected fresh water lakes of Bhandara district, Maharashtra (India), physicochemical characteristics viz. water temperature, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), total hardness (TH), dissolved oxygen (DO),chemical oxygen demand (COD) were investigated. Samples were collected from fifteen different points of five lakes (three samples from each lake) during the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon season. To understand the spatial distribution of physiochemical parameters with the help of Geospatial Technology, we used the Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) interpolation method. The consequences of study were validated by comparing with World Health Organization (WHO) and Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) criteria for drinking water. All physicochemical parameters were recorded more or less similar ecological status under permissible limit during the study period. This study also reveals that, water quality parameters were found apparently lower during post-monsoon season, which could have been due to dilution of water in post-monsoon season.
Article History Laxmi Tall situated in Jhansi city located in Bundelkhand region of Central India, receive rain water as well as waste water from various nallas. Some physico-chemical parameters like temperature, pH, DO, BOD, COD, alkalinity, total hardness, Ca hardness, Mg hardness, and chloride were analyzed. Sampling of water was done during January to June 2010 from five different sites around the Laxmi Tall. Analytical results of the water have been observed as pH ranging from (7-9.4), temperature (10 0 C-32 0 C), DO (0.89-2.96 mg/l) l, BOD (2.8-9.8 mg/l), COD (6.01-24 mg/l), alkalinity (155-355 mg/l), total hardness (323-142 mg/l), chloride (4-24 mg/l). The water shows alkaline nature throughout the year indicating highly polluted characteristics. The values of DO and BOD fluctuate according to seasons but a very low value of BOD/COD ratio was found, which represents high chemical pollution. From the observations, chloride and total hardness were recorded under permissible limit.
We all know that water is our most important life survival factor, but due to urbanization our surface water bodies are being polluted day by day. In order to maintain the water quality of any surface water body it requires accessing the physiochemical and biochemical aspects of water periodically. This investigation is one of the most overlooked aspects of pond management system too. Present study highlights the preliminary investigation of physiochemical characteristics of four pond ecosystems viz. Halar Talav, Nanakwada Talav, Rakhodiya Talav and Segvi Talav. From each pond randomly 11 samples were collected and mixed to make four better representative samples. These samples have been assessed on the basis of various qualitative parameters like pH, temperature, turbidity, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), total hardness (TH), Total Alkalinity (TA), Chloride (Cl), dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD). The results obtained from the present work indicate that there are some diverse contaminations and pollution in these ecosystems. Therefore it is unsafe to use directly for human uses and hence needs more attention for its sustainability factor.

Water is the primary need for all vital life processes. Water itself is an environment, which support large number of organisms. However, it is highly affected due to increased population, industrialization and unplanned urbanization that makes pure water scanty to human beings. Day by day, water bodies are being highly contaminated and are becoming biological deserts. At the same time, the quality of standing water is becoming more and more unfit for humankind due to unwise use, negligence and mismanagement. The quality of life is linked with the quality of environment, hence biological components of fresh water depend solely on better physico-chemical conditions, and therefore, analysis of physic-chemical parameters of water is essential. The present study was conducted at two different stations in the Rangawali Dam, from tribal area. Samples were collected between June 2007 and May 2009 on a monthly basis and evaluated quantitatively. The study carried out for two years included following physicochemical parameters of the water samples. The regional climate at the site of study is distinctly marked in to three seasons, namely Monsoon (June to September) winter (October to January) and summer (February to May).
