Abstract

A new Pavement Management System called "AIRPMS" (AIRport Pavement Management System) with a related software for Windows has been developed for airport pavements. This PMS is based on specific procedures for input data processing, structural deterioration models, structural performance of maintenance strategies, and optimization algorithms. Pavements are divided into sections with homogeneous typology, subgrade, traffic and history. The optimization model is "disaggregated": maintenance strategy is definited for every homogeneous section, using a new structural deterioration model. If historical data on pavement condition are available, it's possible to fit the structural deterioration curves to the effective performance of pavements, and develop appropriate maintenance strategies.
