The study investigated theavailability and accessibility of informationresources and services in Federal Polytechnic libraries in north eastern Nigeria with library users and staff as the respondents. The survey research design was used and questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collected was analysed using inferential statistics, mean, and standard deviations in answering the research questions. The study reveals that there is very high level of availability and accessibility of information resources in Federal Polytechnic libraries in north eastern Nigeria. The problems faced by the library users is that majority of the respondent agreed that inability to get relevant materials was their greatest problems. The strategies to enhance their resources availability and accessibility includes: to acquire and make available current information sources, as well as assisting the users in sourcing of information from other information technologies, organize the library materials for easy access, they should engage in information packaging and repackaging. The study concluded by recommending among others that libraries in the Federal Polytechnics should acquire up to date, current and relevant information resources to improve the quality of their collections in terms of adequacy, relevance and currency. Information retrieval tools should be made available and accessible to library users for ensure easy accessibility of needed information resources. The library should provide current awareness service to their users; this will make the users aware of what is available in their field of study.

The study investigated the effect of current and relevant information sources on the use of library services in the university libraries in the southeast of Nigeria. Two objectives, two research questions and two hypotheses guided this study. The population for this study was made up of 12,500 registered users out of which a sample of 2000 was taken using proportionate sampling technique. Data were collected using the questionnaire and were analyzed through the use of frequency tabulation and percentages .The hypotheses were tested using statistical method of Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis with the use of computer programme of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS)version10.0. The hypotheses testing were conducted at 0.05 level of significance (p<0.05) for rejection or retention. The currency and relevance of information sources therefore have significant relationship with the use of library services. Recommended adequate funding to acquire current and relevant information sources as well as the provision of ICT and Internet facilities to encourage the use of library services.
The study examined the economics of demanding for information resource, with emphasis on the critical factors affecting the demand for information resources among university library users in 5 out of the 7 federal universities that were fully operational in NorthWest Nigeria during the study period. The study adopted descriptive survey and used quantitative methodology to collect data, via the use of questionnaire from 376 registered users that were randomly sampled for the study. Based on a response rate of 75.2%, the study revealed that both library users and their libraries are responsible for the observed critical factors affecting demand for information resources, among the university libraries in NorthWest Nigeria. While users were not following the appropriate technique for demanding information resources, it was discovered that university libraries were not good enough in providing current and up to date information resources to their users. The study shows that users of university libraries in NorthWest Nigeria are fairly satisfied with information resources they demand because of the poor articulation of their information needs and their inability of using catalogue to demand for information resources. Other issues critically affecting demand for information resources include users' inability of using boolean search techniques, outdated or non-current resources as well as inadequate computer and other information technology hardware for accessing information resources. Introduction Libraries are a critical of any higher education. The very earliest universities were built around their libraries and the very newest will continue to need a library at their heart. They provide vital resources, facilities and services to learners, teachers, scholars and practitioners (Harle, 2009) To fulfill these essential goals, the university library must necessarily have the benefit of adequate information sources of the heritage of mankind's accumulated knowledge and wisdom. These information sources must be adequate in size and quality. Purpose and Objectives of the Study The purpose of this study was to examine the information sources variables and the use of library services in the university libraries in the southeast of Nigeria. The specific objectives are: 1. To determine the relationship between the size of information sources and the use of library services. 2. To ascertain the relationship between the qualities of information sources and the use of l...

The study investigates the availability and accessibility of electronic information resources in federal college of education libraries in Northern Nigeria. The research adopted mixed research methods with a concurrent triangulation research design. The population of the study is 34, 846 library users and 12 college librarians. The sampled respondents were 378 and 9 college librarians. The research used interview and questionnaire for data collections. The data collected were analyzed using thematic analysis and descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study revealed that electronic information resources were found to be available on the platform of e-databases, institutional repository, e-Granary and CDS. Majority of the users had access to e-journal, e-newspapers and audio visual resources available. E-manuscripts, e-dissertations/theses/projects, e-discussion and e-images available were not accessible by majority of the respondents. The libraries had invested in EIRs development and provision of good access is a prerequisite to maximum use of the resources to enhance research, teaching and learning. The study recommended that libraries should acquire resources that are relevant to all users and provide unlimited access remotely, and network facilities should be boosted. Also, training on search skills should be given to enable users have access and use the resources without difficulty. Lastly, the management of the college and their libraries should ensure that all the challenges, such as power outages, denial of access and network fluctuations are minimized in order to encourage access and use of the resources in the libraries.

This study examined "utilization of information resources and services among undergraduate students in federal university libraries, in South-South, Nigeria". To achieve the purpose of this study, 3 research questions and 3 hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Literatures related to the variables under study were reviewed; accordingly, Ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was the registered users of the libraryfor2018/2019 academic session. With a total population of 16620 students and a sample of 831 respondents was selected for the study representing 5% of the population. The selection was done through the stratified and purposive random sampling technique. In this case only the student's library user that were available in the library as at the time of this research were used for the study. Questionnaire instrument was used for data collection. A total of eight hundred and thirty-one (831) copies of questionnaire were administered and eight hundred (800) copies were retrieved and found usable. Data was analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Analysis. The results of the analysis revealed a significant relationship between the librarian's selective skills and students' use of library resources. Based on these findings, it was recommended, among others that; Librarians should continue to make sure that the right materials are purchase in the library for optimal utilization.

The study was conducted to investigate the Availability, Accessibility and Satisfaction of Users of Information Resources in the Faculty of Agriculture University Libraries by Non-Academic Staffs of OAU and UI, Nigeria. Three research objectives guided the study. 380 copies of questionnaire were distributed to the respondents in the faculty of agriculture university libraries and in response only 315 (82.89%) were received from the nonacademic staffs. stratified random sampling technique was employed for the study due to the largeness of the population. In the data analysis, frequency counts, simple percentages, and charts were used for the statistical analysis. The findings revealed that the access to information resources such as newspapers, journals, text and reference books, theses and dissertations, E-journals, E-News papers, E-Books and CD-ROMs; It also indicated that the level of usage of information resources for research among non academic is relatively fair and textbook, j...
